I have been on Tegretol XR since 2002; prior to that I was on regular Tegretol. The Extended action has greatly decreased the frequency of seizure and, according to the blood tests my doctor has ordered (about once a year) has stayed in my system. I went on this after having a gran-mal seizure after having what i foudn out were partial-seizures for 10 years previously. before the drug i would get the partial-seizures (can't talk right or move to well or think straight) about once every 3-4 months. I'm still having them. Havent' had any gran-mal's though, so not sure if it's truly helping or not.
