wow! it has been very effective. i have severe allergies and asthma. i had a sinus infection for 14 months treated with anti biotics, singulair, advair, flonase, clarinex. ent gave me a sample and within days i had no symptoms of nasal allergies! i still have some sinus pressure and the taste is nasty, but overall i am thrilled to be rid of the sinus infections, swelling, sneezing and nasal dr...

My nasal passages are reminding me of every fist they ever caught. No relief, just new pain. Phewie!

I used to have chronic sinus infections. But never longterm relief until I was started on the Patanase inhaler. I liked that it is non steroidal. It became costly and figured out I could get by taking it once daily for eight of the twelve months. I was paying at the end over two hundred dollars. Finally a generic brand came along but unfortunately it caused me horrible headaches and had to return to name brand. Finally a few years ago found out t here were two other manufacturers. The third one has the closest to the original ingredients and now pay $21 for three months supply. I don't go without it and need to use year round. I'm very sensitive to medication but greatful I cab tolerate this. It does dry me up when I take it twice daily. Using it regularly for at least ten years now. It helps too with post nasal drip I get when eat dairy. Read More Read Less

This medication works well to clear nasal passages, however it caused me to have severe anxiety, jitters and an irregular heart rate and increased heart rate to about 160 where I had to go to the emergency dept to be evaluated. The side effects started slowly where I was jittery with 1-2 sprays a day. As I continued to use for a couple of weeks, I started to feel more jitters where I couldn’t even drive. I’m sensitive to nasal sprays as they absorb fast into nasal passages providing instant relief, but I cannot tolerate the side effects. Read More Read Less

This medication works wonders for me. One suggestion is, read the directions. It says to sniff when you spray your nostrils, so it doesnâ??t get into your mouth.

Doctor wrote to spray twice each nostril TWICE a day. Seems excessive, especially since, even with head down for a minute, it ends up draining into my throat/mouth with an intense bitter taste. RE: effectiveness I can't speak, since I'm only on my 4th day of it.

Generic now available = CHEAP! This stuff is AMAZING! (para 1 is my allergy history, para 2 is my review of Patanase). I have horrible allergies. Initial arm prick tests: arms whelped up so badly you couldn't tell one reaction from another (they all ran together). I also have horrible allergies when other people wear fragrances (perfume, cologne, lotions, etc.) I have to ask everyone at work to refrain from applying any fragrances and coming to the office. Most medical professionals say these are vasomotor (non-allergenic) reactions that don't involve an immune system response (which would typically be stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing, postnasal drip and would rarely cause itchy nose, eyes & throat). I beg to differ. I can rarely smell the fragrance (or the perpetrator for that matter) because my allergies, in general, cause a good bit of everyday nasal stuffiness. However, I can tell as soon as I'm exposed to an offending fragrance. In a matter of seconds, my nose and eyes start to burn. My eyes become very red and bloodshot. If I can't remove myself from the area immediately (like that time I sat by a perfume user on an airplane or that lady that walked in an sat next to me while I was getting a pedicure) then the inflammation and irritation to my sinus passages takes hold, my ears get clogged & I'm sick for a good week or two. Sounds like an allergic/immune system response to me! When I'm exposed to an allergen, perfume or pollen, etc., Patanase can squash it within seconds and keeps me from getting sick. It's a miracle! Since it's a nasal spray applied intranasal, it works extremely fast. While not marketed as a decongestant or specifically marketed for vasomotor rhinitis (non-allergic rhinitis), it works amazingly on both aspects! They should label it as a decongestant (it works better than pseudoephedrine & phenylephrine put together). I'd say it's as good if not better than Afrin (and doesn't come with the rebound congestion/potential addiction).Read More Read Less

I have terrible allergies and bad sinus infections for decades... Recently had the sinus surgery and now taking this spray and it works like no other. Now heres there real combo, before doing this spray my doctor has me using a Nelimed nose cleaner with a 0.5mg Budesonide solution. After clearing the nose and sinus with this solution I then use the spray. Oh boy Ive never been this clear before and now I can sleep uninterupted and no more snoring either. Its the miracle combo!

Given this for allergies with constant nasal drainage affecting my vocal cords, and feeling of mucus build up in my throat. It helped somewhat, but after two weeks, I'm experiencing painful joints, in knees and shoulders to the point pain was waking me up at night. Unable to find this symptom among other reviews or side effects, but I'm afraid it may be damaging my joints, so have stopped taking it.

I've developed a chronic cough with long history of allergies. This seems to be helping reduce the amount of coughing significantly.

I found this to be no more effective than nosonex or flonase. This drug gave me a constant runny nose and sore throat. Also had increase in headaches - almost daily. Pantanase is also expensive as my insurance will not cover the formulary

It does make you feel more 'symptomatic' of illness because it moves from having completely blocked/swollen sinuses to opening those sinuses which releases drainage making you have sore throat, scratchy speech, etc. I have tried to keep the spray in my nose but it still gives me side effects of feeling high as a kite (unintended, inconvenient, but I'm saving on wine...). I am an active taskmaster and I never lie down during day. But on Patanase I literally lay down in my tracks like Dorothy in the poppy fields in Wizard of Oz. Again, fun but not if you have kids and a life to maintain. Nevertheless, if you've been up at 2am suffering from congestion, and if bromelade, flonase, nasonex and all the others haven't worked, this does the job. Just be ready. Read More Read Less

It is important to have your head down when you use the spray so you will not get the taste in your throat. I also wait a minute or so before I use the spray a second time.

My ENT prescribed Patanase for my stuff up sinuses. The first time I used it I was very hopeful as I thought I could see an improvement. However, after taking it for about 3 days I started having an allergic reaction of intense itchy of the palms of my hands and the soles of my feet. I stopped taking it and the itching stopped. A couple of weeks later my sinuses were stuffed up again so I thought I would try it again but this time only use it in the morning and not twice a day like I had before. The second time I broke out in a hive like rash on my neck along with itching again. I guess I am allergic to the ingredients and won't be able to use this medication.Read More Read Less

Tastes bad going down the back of your throat, but well worth it when everything else fails.

I have only been on this medication for a 3 days. It does work and it works quickly. After using it with in 5 minutes I can feel the congestion in my sinuses break up. With that said, I can also feel MANY side effects. When I feel the congestion breaking up, it slides down my nasal passages and into the back of my throat (very normal) but the medication burns my throat and I can taste it at times. The taste is awful but all this I am ok with-it just means that it is doing its job. I have a constant runny nose instead of a stuffy nose... which led to sores from a constant need to use tissues. Again all ok. Mild side effects. The side effects that are NOT OK are severe drowsiness and very painful ear pain. An hour- to two hours after taking this medication I am beyond tired. I feel loopy and slightly disoriented. I didn't associate these symptoms initally with this medication since I am on other allergy medications too (allegra and singulair which I only take at night), BUT since this is taken 2x a day and the others only 1x.. Ive noticed that an hour or so after taking this in the morning by itself- I feel these side effects in the morning as well as in the evening. My ears were filled with fluid prior to taking this medication. I am very used to fluid in my middle ear and barely felt it but after taking this medication they hurt almost every time I swallow and will randomly ache. Which makes me think that this medication is effecting my eustachian tubes somehow. Read More Read Less

This stuff is the ONLY thing that works for me!! Zyrtec in combination with Patanase is a good idea as well. Patanase is a little expensive, but WELL worth it!! LOVE IT! Could deal with my allergies without it!
