I have had no negative effects from this treatment and have been taking it for almost 3 years. I think this goes to show that all types of birth control effect women differently. The only side-effect that I experience is that I do not have a period anymore, which to me is a good thing.

I have no idea why this hasn't worked well for other people. It's been the absolute best pill I have ever taken. On it I did have light to no period monthly which I did not mind, I had no cramping, headaches or breakthrough and it stabilized me emotionally. My insurance company stopped prescribing it, and everything thing I have tried since has been awful cramping, headaches, some making me seriously ill, breakthrough all month, etc..I need how to find out how I can find and start using Gildes again.Read More Read Less

For a YEAR this birth control caused the worst acne/period of my life! I would have extremedy heavy/painful periods lasting up to two weeks. They would make me nauseous/dizzy, double over from sharp pains. If I forgot to take it for HALF A DAY, the period would start all over again!! I went to my Dr. to find out if I had endometriosis & ran a bunch of tests, even ultrasounds, but nothing was present. Eventually, I couldn't afford the health insurance increase so I went without the birth control for a yr+. During that break, all my acne went away & I no longer had pain/issues with my period. I went back on Gildess Fe a few months ago & everything came back! WORST BC EVER! I use Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 now. Light 2-3 day periods no pain/acne!Read More Read Less

I am happy about how consistent my period had been since I started this pill but the fever I get occasionally and the muscle tightness is unbearable. I will be switching off this brand soon.

I was taking Gildess FE 1/20 before this, which never gave me issues. However, the first month of taking this drug has been absolutely miserable. I've had ridiculous bloating to the point where I can't put my jeans on, nausea, fluctuating appetite, extreme mood swings (my boyfriend would agree), fatigue, and weight gain. I'm an active person, but I have gained about 5-10 pounds in the past month whilst working out every day. The only benefit of this pill is my period was much lighter and only lasted 3-5 days. Overall, it hasn't been worth it. Thinking of switching immediately after I finish the second pack. Read More Read Less

This pill should be taken off the market! My insurance sneakily changed me to it about a year ago because it was cheaper than what I was taking and my doctor told me not to worry about it. It made me CRAZY; sudden marathon crying, mood swings, depression, hyper aggression. I got sent to therapy and my OBGYN put me on Lexapro because I was hysterical (why didn't she check my birth control?!) Finally I looked it up on this website and realized this is apparently REALLY common! Within two days of switching off it back to my "name brand" birth control I was suddenly sane again. I'm so upset this ruined a year of my life. I bawled my eyes out when I finally realized what my irresponsible doctors had done to me. This pill does prevent pregnancy and makes periods more manageable, but it's not worth riding the crazy train.Read More Read Less

I started this birth control a few days ago. I do get some pimples , but it's mostly cause my body is getting used to it. In fact now i think it's clearing up my forehead acne.I do not have any extreme side effects.I don't get head aches . I don't know if it helps to regulate menstrual cycles because i havent finished my 21 day pack , im one day away. I feel a little nervous to miss a period but so far this drug has been great for acne. I know that in like 3 months i will begin to see more changes in my acne. Oh ! and one side efect i do have is sore breasts ! I would only get sore breast a few days before my period , but now my breast have been sore all month. However that is no problem at all. I can tolerate that.Read More Read Less

I'm a generally happy and exciting person. After about a year of taking Gildess, I started having severe mood swings, paranoia, getting pretty anxious, acne would come from time and again. It helped with my endometriosis for the first 11 months but now it feels like it just came back and even harder. It does what it's supposed to do and that would be preventing pregnancy, but the way it makes me feel is absolutely horrible. Would not recommend to anyone.

I'm only on my first month of this pill, and I'm extremely emotional. My self esteem is as low as I feel it's ever been. I almost bawled my eyes out at the stupidest thing. I may be switching very soon.

I have taken birth control for about 15 years, but only started on Gildess last year (less than 6 months ago). I never had side effects from birth control until I started taking this pill. I had rapid weight gain (despite healthy diet and exercise) -- approximately 20 pounds in a 3 month span. Fatigue, dizziness, changes in mood, night sweats, increased appetite, extremely sore and tender breasts (only time I have had this issue before was during the early stages of pregnancy), spotting for a month (was always regular with no spotting before). I've been using Gildess for 4 months, I've experienced, weight gain (bigger breast and hips), mood swings, cramping in my abdomen, and my period has stopped (two months). In regards to avoiding pregnancy... IT WORKS!!! The only other option for me is the permanent solution.

Although the pain associated with my periods decreased and also decreased my flow making them much more bearable, it also caused severe depression and thoughts of self-harm. I would fluctuate between sadness and anger taking out frustrations on all of those around me.

I started this pill three weeks ago and am about to start taking the placebos, but after that, I will not continue this particular pill. I notice a change in my mood. I feel much more emotional as well. In addition, my breast are very tender and I have been spotting. The week after I started this pill, I got my period and since then, I have been spotting on and off. I just don't feel comfortable continuing this.

I had VERY light periods, which was great, but i had severe emotional problems and it caused so many problems in my last relationship. It led to my fiancé breaking up with me because it got that bad. I switched to Mirena, and i feel like myself again

This pill is awful. I started taking it to rid myself of periods all together. I had less painful periods but had constant bleeding. This past period was two weeks of bleeding. Then I started developing eye twitches. I was also noticing muscle spasms through out my body. Didn't realize it was the pill at first but started getting suspicious when I realized it started happening when I started taking this pill. Stopped taking it 3 days ago and the spasms have subsided. That's pretty scary knowing this pill was causing muscle spasms. I'm not talking spams that were a slight inconvenience but severe enough to potentially have to go to the doctor. I do not recommend this pill.Read More Read Less

I had SEVERE muscle pain & weakness (myalgia) in my shoulder along with numbness & tingling while taking this pill. I didn't put it together that the pain was related to the pill (although both started at the same time) until I spent nearly $1000 on physical therapy and nothing was helping - not the pain meds, not the PT exercises, nothing!! Within a week of stopping the pill, my pain was totally gone. I have been on BC pills for over 20 years and never had anything like this before. I only started taking this after switching health plans & my new health plan no longer offered a discount on Lo Loestrin. The pharmacy chose this generic over the others for Loestrin. I may have had better results on another generic, but after the 3 months of PT & the expense, I wasn't willing to risk another "trial" with generic Loestrin. If you have pain and/or suicidal thoughts with this pill - please stop immediately!Read More Read Less

This pill did tremendously help with my cramps and lighten my period and my sex drive is still high for the most part. But I have thought I was losing my mind since I started it. Very depressed all the time, extreme highs and way more extreme lows, extremely tender breasts, my skin has never broken out like it has since starting this pill, I've gained almost 40 pounds no matter how i cut back and exercise more i can't get rid of it (something I've never had a problem with), my hair is literally falling out, I'm so achy and sore all day everyday, and i don't even know what sleep is anymore. Funny enough I didn't connect any of these symptoms to this pill even though it all didn't start until after I started this pill, it was just another sleepless night on the net. I'll just deal with the cramps, not worth itRead More Read Less

I have been on this pill now for 7 months because the last one made me gain so much weight. I don't have cramps or anything crazy on this one and haven't Gaines any additional weight but OH MY GOSH, my mood swings are insane! I get extremely emotional at times and I'm not normally like that. Iv noticed it's made me depressed and I never seem to be happy anymore. I now have almost no sex drive and my mind is always in a blank fog. Also effects my memory a lot! It's causing a lot of problems for my relationship And at first I thought it was just me, but now after having such similar experiences to all the other reviews I know it's not me! I'm definitely going to go off of it!Read More Read Less

Irted this for terrible cramps during my period, they were so bad I shook and shivered each cramp. I started this to help, and it has helped my period! While I still have cramps for a week before, they are not as bad. I broke out with acne the first month, but that cleared up (mostly back to normal) by month 2. A problem I did have though, was weight gain. Very recently before starting the pill, I started eating healthier and exercising. However, this pill made me hungry all the time in the first month, and I couldn't stop eating second servings without still being hungry! Being already overweight, this was not good. My breasts felt sore one night and seemed to have grown 1/2 a cup size; now my bras are tight in the cup. I gained 8 pounds the first week, despite good lifestyle choices. I can't seem to lose weight, even though the cravings and overeating habits are gone! Overall, it is doing its job though. Read More Read Less
