I was completely against medication but decided to try Intuniv for my son who was doing very very poorly socially and academically in kindergarten. He was so hyperactive and careless that he had no friends and was already labeled the "bad boy." My son is 5 years old and we started 1mg of Intuniv five days ago. He takes one pill every morning. So far, his side effects include sleepiness a ... Show Full Comment

IF YOU HAVE LOW BLOOD PRESSURE, DO NOT TAKE INTUNIV! My psychiatrist gave me the starter kit, and I took 1 mg. I also have a fairly low blood pressure, so the medication made it drop even lower. The first night I took Intuniv, I was so tired, I couldn't remember what happened, but when I woke up, I was so groggy, I was literally paralyzed for ten minutes. The next night, I took intuniv again, ... Show Full Comment

I am a 37 year old big boy with the triumvirate of ADHD, OCD and Tourette's since early childhood. Overall, I feel being on Intuniv has been a good experience with few problematic side effects. High intelligence and a lot of help got me through grade school and college, but I had difficulty with employment, and first started meds while struggling to earn my PhD. Intuniv was of interest b ... Show Full Comment

My 6-year-old son was prescribed Intuniv 1 mg a day. During the first week, it works. He was calm and was able to sit still in the restaurant. His teachers reported he was able to sit well in class and focus. However, on the second week, his old self is back. He ran around like crazy in the museum. He plays pranks on his older brother. He falls asleep around 3 pm which he never does in 4 years. He ... Show Full Comment

I am a 62 yr old male with depression, anxiety, adding up to a atypical bipolar with ADHD, all diagnosed late in life. We decided to try an ADHD. Ritalin made me more hyper than ever. Intuniv at 3mg once day seems to work with focus and staying calm. BUT is lowered my blood pressure to under 100/50 and I have gained 10 lbs in less than a month. Stopping and moving on to next whatever.
