After putting off 1st colonoscopy until I was nearly 53 from sheer dread of the day-before prep, I'm so thrilled that I did because it allowed the time for Prepopik to be approved in the US. It was the easiest prep I could ever imagine, just 2 five-oz glasses of pleasant citrus-tasting drink at 2 and 8 pm the day before my procedure. They kicked in within an hour each time, each time they led to...

After insurance I paid $118.00 for this prescription. After finding out it only came out in 2012, I started researching it online and discovered as of March 15, 2015 it is manufactured in China. That is according to the actual documents you can find online by searching Prepopik, March 15, made in China. I looked at the outside of the box and it gives the address for the pharmaceutical and it is...

First of all these reviews are mostly old. Very old. This product has been taken off the market a few years ago. Today’s date is 12-24-2023. I had my last colonoscopy 7 years ago so in 2016. I used this and had a horrible reaction with my body turning very red like blisters and couldn’t even touch the bottom hardly to wipe. Made it through the colonoscopy but now I have another one scheduled for next Friday using Plenvu. I pray the ingredients are not the same.

Caused intense nausea halfway through prep that intensified overnight to the point that, on admission for colonoscopy, I received anti-nausea meds - that still didn't help. Puking in the car on the way to the procedure!

Prepopik is the best prep for colonoscopies. Easy to use and tastes good. I used the powder form and mixed with water and it stayed liquidy. I will never use anything but prepopik ever again! This is the best stuff ever!

Colon cancer survivor with about 5 colonoscopies on my record. Have tried several preps this is the BEST tasting prep.Split dose. It had NO bad taste (orange flavor)but it actually tasted like lemonade. Little in comparison with others clear liquids to drink and within a very doable time frame.Your choices of clear liquids. I had mostly water. Doctor instructed to mix it well as per instructions since it appears there must be a chemical reaction. If you do not mix it well you might not clear all the colon. Drank it fast all the dose at the same time. No need for straws, hard candy, lemon sucking etc. Expensive. Worth every dollar in comparison with other alternatives. Used GoodRX for a discount. My second choice would be SUPREP.Recommend a low fiber diet days before the procedure.Withe doctor's permission had two boiled eggs the day before the procedure, late breakfast. Previous awful preps golitely halflately Too bad of a taste and too much liquids.I waited way too much for my first colonoscopy and wad diagnosed with cancer. Had to be surgically removed. With Prepopik its a picnic. Read More Read Less

This was the first time I have used Prepopik and I will never use it again. It barely emptied my bowel and I have no medical issues that would prevent it from working. The product has two parts: you drink Part One the day before the procedure and drink Part II the next day, both within a specific timeframe before your procedure. I followed all doctors orders and followed the product instructions exactly. The first part of the process did NOTHING at all. This was my first hint that it wasn't going to work. The 2nd part provided some success, but was very minimal. I've had a couple colonoscopies in the past and never had this problem with other products. The hospital still got me ready for the procedure, but decided at the last minute to send me home because they knew that I would not have a successful colonoscopy. It was very embarrassing for me to have to explain to each and every medical person that my bowel was not clear. Also, it was just a complete waste of a lot of money and time (product cost, time off of work for my spouse and I, scheduling doctors and medical staff, my hospital costs that will still have to be paid, etc.). Now I have to do it all over again and spend more money, time, and my spouse and I will have to take more time off work. Read More Read Less

Iâ??d read so many horror stories so I was nervous but this was such an easy experience for me!! The only downside was that I didnâ??t sleep at all until the propofol knocked me out. No side effects- no nausea, headache, or cramping. I drank broth and coconut water for electrolytes because I get dehydrated easily, and I had cinnamon hard candy in my mouth while I drank it through a straw so I wouldnâ??t get sick of the taste. The taste wasnâ??t bad at all though, the orange one was kind of like emergen-c. Overall very happy, this will be my go-to when I have another one in 3 years!Read More Read Less

Used Prepopik to prepare for a colonoscopy. I have to say it was easy to take, effective without side effects, and produced a cleanse that was completely acceptable to the GI physician. I don't understand the negative reviews of this product, but I guess different people can react differently. In any event, if you are considering this product, my advice is not to hesitate; it is much easier than other products and worked well in all respects.

First colonoscopy for me at age 52. I have avoided before this, due to horror stories of the prep and my propensity for nausea. A positive Cologuard is what made me go through with the colonoscopy. This prep was fully covered under my insurance as preventative so no copay or cost to me, but I was ready to pay whatever it took to not drink the large jug. The first dose took about 4 hours to take effect for me. Nothing violent and I had full control; just more liquidy bms. Went a few times and then went to sleep. Slept through the night except to get up at midnight and went one more time. Started next dose in morning an hour earlier than recommended since it seemed to take longer for me to be effected. Don't stress if it takes a while to have effect and seems too easy! Did not nauseate me at all or have any negative effects. Read More Read Less

I was scheduled for a colonoscopy a few years ago but I couldn't drink the 4 liters of motor oil they gave me so this time I got the doc to prescribe this stuff. You only need to drink 5 ounces of the solution in two separate doses, evening and morning, and 40 ozs of water with the first dose, 24 ozs of water with the second dose. It has a lemon-lime flavor--I wouldn't use it as a cocktail mixer, a little thick, but not too bad, and only 5 ozs. It took effect about 1 1/2 hours after the first dose and again about an hour after that. The only side effect was very mild cramping. I slept through the night without any problems. The second does in the morning was a little faster acting and within two hours I was pretty much cleaned out. A much better prep than 4 liters of motor oil.Read More Read Less

I had a colonoscopy a few weeks ago for the first time at age 56. I was extremely nervous about the prep because I heard bad reviews of many of them. The doctor wanted me to use Suprep but I had heard it was very caustic and made people nauseous, so I asked for Prepopik. This was the best decision I ever made and was worth the extra money I had to pay for it. I have a very sensitive stomach and get nauseous easily. I had absolutely no nausea or cramping with this medication. However, the doctor suggested that the prep would go more easily and be more effective if I did a liquid diet for 2 days. I did cheat a little bit on the first day of the liquid diet with some crackers and rice. Other than that I stuck to broth, Jello, Gatorade, and water. I did the split dose prep and it began to work about an hour after the first dose the night before the colonoscopy. There was no pain or cramping or nausea, just quick bouts of loose stools every 20 minutes or so until I was empty after a few hours. Then I took the second dose in the morning but because the liquid was already running clear, I only drank about three-quarters of it. Again there was no pain or discomfort at all, mostly I was just pretty hungry and looking forward to eating solid food. The doctor said my colon was impeccably clean and the prep worked really well. I do think doing the liquid diet for 2 days was really helpful and I would do it again. I'm hoping to never use any other prep product because so many of them seem to have upset my friends' stomachs. This is a great one to take if you're willing to follow the liquid diet. Probably not a good choice if you are chronically constipated, from what I have heard. If you have regular, easy bowel movements, this product works great and I had a far better experience than I expected. Read More Read Less

Took as directed. Almost constant diarrhea. Foul tasting. Fought nauseousness entire time. No sleep. Four days later still nauseous. It upset balance of my system. Too harsh. Never had this from other colonoscopy preps. Will not take again.

This was a prep for a colonoscopy. I took the first packet at 5 pm and the second at 9 pm as directed, followed by the recommended amount of water . Starting at 8 pm I began to have diarrhea, which became more intense as the night went on. Between 9:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. I had diarrhea at hourly and and half-hourly intervals. Of course I had no sleep, and turned up for my procedure cleaned out but feeling wretched and sick. I would try an alternative preparation next time.

I was prescribed Prepopik as a bowel-preparation solution for a colonoscopy. I followed instructions, as per both my physician's direction and as written on the box, even setting a timer to be assured I stirred the contents of the package(s) 2-3 minutes, as directed. I had no affect whatsoever (not even gas!), and I ingested the second packet 6 hours later (as per instruction), at which time I still had no bowel movement. Finally, almost 8 hours later, I had a bowel movement, which was relatively small and not at all watery. I went to bed, woke at 5:30 a.m., for my 6:00 a.m. appointment, and still nothing. No cramping, grumbling or gas to indicate anything was even possibly going to happen! I considered calling the medical center to cancel the appointment, but my husband suggested we proceed and see if there might be a way to salvage the appointment. My doctor was incredibly surprised I did not have success with this product, but he decided to 'mildly sedate' me and attempt the colonoscopy, even though I had no result from taking Prepopik, because I had eaten lightly for days before leading up to the procedure, and I had regular bowel movements, daily, prior to. We were hopeful I was 'clean enough' to proceed with the scope. My doctor stopped the procedure minutes after starting (due to not being able to perform the scope) , and I was rescheduled. About 28 hours after taking my first dose, I experienced stomach cramping, a 'side stitch' under my rib, horrible distention of my abdomen (which lasted about 3 hours) and, finally(!), the urge to have a bowel movement; when I attempted a movement, I felt constipated! I would recommend the product only due to the minimal amount of solution I had to drink versus the volume of other horrific solutions I had to drink for prior scopes, and the fact that the taste was not horrible. I was quite bummed (pun intended!) it didn't work for me and will seek a full refund ($39) from the manufacturer. Read More Read Less

Terrible product! Did not work at all! Followed instructions, drank more fluid than recommended, no bowel movement. Was not covered by insurance. I opted to try it because my doc recommended for my colonoscopy. This product needs to be taken off the market.... waste of time, money and has side effects of headache, chills. I want my money back!!

I took the first dose at 5 pm as directed, and drank the amount of water it said to. Right after I had a small movement, but thats it. Took the 2nd dose at 5 am, and same thing, just a small movement and nothing else.Phone the surgery clinic and they said to come in. Procdure was cancelled as the scope was not clear. I wasted my prep time, the Prepopik kit did not work. Its 19hours after the first dose, and my movemennts are still not clear!

Not covered by insurance and that's ok. There is a 40 dollar coupon the drugstore can download to lessen the pain. It tastes like mountain dew and it's only 5 ounces 2x 6 hours apart. My doctor said drink the 40 ounces of liquid required after the 5 ounces, within 1 hour, not 5 like it says in the directions. It was great. The only thing I would change is the times I took it. I would start at 2pm and 8pm for an a.m. colonoscopy the next day. I would definitely recommend it. Also, eating lightly for 2 days before helps Read More Read Less

This was my 5th colonoscopy and the first time to use Prepopik. It worked much slower than other prep. It was 3 hours after the 1st package before my first BM. I drank a lot more water to get it flushed. I took my second package at 9 pm and I wasn't done until past midnight. My last BM wasn't clear like my previous preps. Fortunately my GI considered it clear enough and I did not have to go back! But I was swearing abut that.

The day before my colonoscopy, I took the first dose at 4pm as directed. I drank the suggested amount of liquid over the next 5 hours. No bowel movement. I took the second dose at 9pm as directed. I followed up with liquids as directed. I did not have a bowel movement until 4:45am, and then it wasn't much. I had two additional small movements by 7am. I then went to my scheduled colonoscopy at 8am. I had another small movement at the facility. Since it was still not clear, my colonoscopy was cancelled. It has been rescheduled two weeks out using a different prep. The bottom line is that this prep did not work for me as intended. It is now afternoon and I just had another movement that is still not clear. I guess it is somewhat working but very slowly. I am out $95, along with the time and effort of preparing for the colonoscopy.Read More Read Less
