As a 25-year survivor, I'm been on several regimens--this being the easiest (1 pill) and least side effects. Give it a try if the doc thinks you are a good candidate; be a positive thinker and hope it works.

Switched to Triumeq as part of the study switching from 3 pills to 1, and I got hit by all supposedly "infrequent" side effects and severely: severe mood swings, nausea, not feeling well, fatigue, low appetite, low sex drive, tarry stools, the list goes on. On top of that, 3 months into it, I now have anemia. My doctor did the test for potential allergic reaction to abacavir. The test came in goo...

Been on it for 8 years. It's kept me undetectable but I have gained weight in an uneven fashion around my mid section. And I stop menstruating completely. Came off it for a few months, was so sick I couldn't get out of bed. And took it right back up and only side effect was I had to have food to take it the first few months or it made me sick. But overall it works.

Diagnosed in March â??17 with viral load of 100K and CD4 less than 20. Started Triumeq after doctor tested for any reactions, alongside a suite of prophylactic antibiotics and anti-fungal (Flucanazole). Slight nausea at first, especially if I took all pills together. Within 3 months VL had dropped to 5000 and CD4 climbed up to mid 50s. By end of year one VL was hovering around 50 and CD4 was in the 200-300 range and was able to stop the antibiotics. For some reason I couldnâ??t get to VL undetectable until about 18 months in. Now have been undetectable for last 9 months and CD4 hovers around 300-350. Side-effects are minimal- occasional nausea if I take on an empty stomach. I suspect the drug is facilitating weight gain around my mid-section as I work out frequently and have a hard time keeping weight off. I am considering switching to a newer medication (Jaluca) which only has two active medications instead of three, hopefully will continue to see positive results!Read More Read Less

I was first diagnosed with aids 03/99 I had very little side affects from the combinations I was taking then for some reason my medication was change to Triumeq even though my numbers were excellent around 1000 CD4 undetectable viral load now with Triumeq CD4 around 700 to 800 and have put on alot of weight am breathless after walking about 30 ft, level of fatigue is high and I have seemed to have lost the will to do anything, I have been taking this drug about three years I think and wish that I had never been given this drug but changing to another would cut my options should drugs become less affective.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed summer of '17. A few days after I got back from vacation actually. Viral load was in the MILLIONS...thank God I hadn't contracted aids. When I first started triumeq I was absolutely miserable, the NAUSEA and EXTREME irritability put quite a strain on my relationship.marijuana and exercise have definitely played a helpful role in lessening the intensity of the side effects. WOULD NOT TRY TAKING AT WORK. Not until you've had a day off to see how you react to it.Absolutley take with food.sorry not here to scare anyone. So there was a hiccup w my health insurance this last summer and I missed my dosage for a WEEK. Had this not happened I honestly think I would've been unetectable months ago.well Upon yesterday's visit (God Bless AHF dallas) to review my blood work from 1 week a go I am UNDETECTABLE AND STD free! I take my medicine every night , alarm set to 10pm, or my amazing partner will remind me.for the record I have smoked weed almost every night of the last year I have been on triumeq and I am now undetectable! Cutting back on cigarettes has also helped stress tremendously!Read More Read Less

I have been HIV Positive for 32 years, the last drugs I was on was Epzicom and Combivir , a year ago I started Triumeq . In the beginning I experienced sleeplessness, slight nausea and stomach gas. I had to change taking medicine from evenings to mornings to resole the sleeplessness. The side effects I experienced lasted for the first 3 months, but after that period I started feeling somewhat normal. The first positive thing I noticed was my skin became more hydrated and no more skin eruptions. Now after one year on Triumeq I love this medication and I feel ver close to normal. I have noticed that I have gained a little weight evenly on my body but that is a small price to pay for the way I feel today. If you can tolerate the inital side effects of this med you will be okay in time. My Viral Load is still undetectable and my T-count is 1,150 which is up from 900 .Read More Read Less

I started this drug 3 months ago after an HIV/AIDS diagnosis with a viral load of 1.1 million and a CD4 of 14. In the first month my viral load went to 150 and my CD4 went to 76. Getting my next blood results in a couple days, and hopefully both numbers are continuing to improve. Major side effects (severe bone aches) for the first 5 days, but then after that no side effects that I can notice. Worth powering through the side effects as they will subside and this medication is the best on the market.Read More Read Less

Triumeq did not work out for me. I switched to it from a Truvada and Reltegravir combination. Within in days of starting Triumeq I experienced debilitating fatigue and I felt completely drained of energy from morning to night. My sleep was disturbed and I woke each day feeling exhausted before even getting out of bed. I lost my appetite and interest in food and had a constant dry mouth, when I did eat food I felt nauseous. I'm usually fit and active and a keen runner but after starting Triumeq I would get out of breath just climbing stairs and I lost motivation to exercise. I stuck with them for 2 months but didn't see any improvement within that time. I've now changed back to my previous regimen and I feel back to normal and so much better. I know others who get on fine with Triumeq - you have got to try it for yourself and see how you body responds to it.Read More Read Less

Diagnosed with HIV in August 2015. I was given Truvada along with one other drug to bring down initial viral load. After six weeks we switched to Triumeq and my viral load has been undetectable (under 40) ever since. No side effects whatsoever.

I was diagnosed on February 11th...viral load a month later in March was 606,000, CD4 count was 508. I started Triumeq on March 30th. I took another blood test on May 17th and received results 2 days later. Viral load is now 50..not 50,000...50!! CD4 count shot up to 900! My doctor was so thrilled that she had to call me even though my follow up appointment with her wasn't for another 2 weeks. This drug has been phenomenal for me! Virtually no side effects. I just take it every morning after breakfast. Read More Read Less

Truimeq medication change was a disaster; started with incidents of strange sweating, crotch felt hot, difficulty falling asleep, some cramping in my legs above my knees that I had not experienced before. By the second week began to experience increased muscle cramps. I experienced muscle imbalances in my legs. I experienced joint aches of my hips, knees, ankles, wrists and hands. By third week Neuropathy pain signifcantly worse and I was walking kind of strange from the combination of pain, burning and muscle imbalances in my legs. I was unable to walk or stand for more than 10 minutes without feet burning and hurting and having to sit down. Pain in my wrists and hands all joints and nerve pressure points was constant. I felt discomfort when I urinated in that the nerves in my prostrate and head of my penis felt over stimulated as I urinated. I discontinued Truimeq after 3 weeks and went back on Sustiva/Combivir. My neuropathy pain has become worse as a result of taking this medication. Read More Read Less

I am a long term survivor, and I have never had a complication from HIV or any HIV medication. I took the blood test to make sure I was not allergic, and I also did my homework and found many positive reviews. I was basically bedridden for 19 days, and stopped the medication. 2 days later, I ended up in the ER with pancreas complications. In my opinion, they marketed this drug too quickly, and there are too many unknowns about long term use. 1 pill a day is certainly easier, but I regret changing my original regimen.Read More Read Less

On top of that, 3 months into it, I now have anemia. My doctor did the test for potential allergic reaction to abacavir. The test came in good, that is, I am not allergic. The promise that I could take this new pill on an empty stomach was the main reason I joined the study, but that hasn't panned out. On empty stomach, this pill almost kills me - I get so sick & nauseous for 3 hours. So even though, this pill keeps me undetectable, it is not easy to use, as I have to take this pill only at night and I have to eat a full meal right before taking it. Needless to say, I am very dissatisfied and I am switching to something else. Read More Read Less
