This medication takes away most of my pain away. I have tried many different kinds of opiates and this one is amazing. It doesn't make me dizzy at all and it works great for all.my pain

This is not going to be a positive review. If WebMD has a problem with that- tough. I am a patient who is taking this garbage. The first day it made me sleepy and had a tremendous headache. The second day I broke into a rash that won't go away. This is the most expensive, ineffective medication I've had the misfortune of being talked into by my doctor. To think I trusted his "knowledge" re: effic...

I was given these following another round of knew surgery. These are awful. 3 hours in I'm getting ZERO pain relief. I have to wait hours to take another. These are the absolute worst pain pills I have ever taken. Absolutely ZERO pain relief and I'm shaking from extreme pain I DO NOT RECOMMEND these AT ALL. ZERO OUT OF five

Medicine does not work, takes 3-4 hours to kick in, I started having withdrawal symptoms after 10 hours. I tried taking it with food, without food, I stopped taking some of my meds to see if they interacted. Absolutely nothing I did made it work in fact my pain got worse.

If you think you’re crazy and your doctor keeps telling you that this is the same as other opioid medications READ MORE REVIEWS! Like many on here I also have had a terrible experience with Xtampza. At first doctors said it would just take time for my plasma levels to fill… several months later still zero relief. I also have many side effects including terrible stomach pain no matter how clean my diet. Then later more side effects… breaking out sweating randomly and then my face gets hives and bright red. Most recently my skin has become so sensitive that I can’t even take a shower - it’s like needles shooting me. After the cold shower even I’m all red and itchy. I’ve been treated for chronic pain for 15 years and have never experienced this misery, EVEN stopping all meds cold turkey several times and this is WAY WORSE!Read More Read Less

My insurance would not cover my oxycontin this month so the doctor put me XTAMPZA ER and it was a horrible experience. I had headaches, dizziness, vomiting, talking in my sleep and not able to control my pain

I am beginning to wonder if this med is a Placebo. It doesn't touch my pain. . What's the point of doctors prescribing something they know doesn't work for someone.I am 58 and have many painful conditions. I know what works best for my body and helps me function.No-one listens or cares anymore.

I was taking Oxycontin 80 mg twice a day, with Dilaudid for break thru pain. This combination worked great and I could function and work normally. After 10 years on the same dosage, all the Purdue Oxycontin lawsuits happen and I'm left paying $600 a month for brand name O.c. (my cost.. Insurance picked up $1300) bc it's not available in the generic now. Insurance wanted me switched to Xtamza er.. I have chronic pancreatitis from septic shock and D.I.C. and am in severe pain every day. Xtampza put me into severe opioid withdrawal, so bad that the Dr's receptionist didn't recognize me. They immediately gave me meds to help the withdrawal. I began having tiny blisters all over my hands and chest from this, along with no ( and I truly mean 0) pain relief. It's the coating on it that doesn't dissolve in your stomach to let the medication out. Because of addicts, chronic pain patients in real pain suffer, and needlessly. Addicts are going to do what they need to in order to get what they want, putting a coating on it, etc only hurts the pain patients. This is the worst pain med I've ever had. Switched back over. It seems to work well for mild to moderate pain after an hour of taking it but almost does nothing for severe pain. I think it has to do with the abuse deterrent properties and it being fat soluble instead of hydrochloride.

I don’t get all the negative reviews. Just started this and it’s working wonderfully. Much better than oxycodone IR. It’s great having my pain controlled the whole day and night. Having to take it with a full meal is the only downside really but not even that much.

It seems that if I don't eat "all day" that the pain relief is minimal. I have other things to do besides eat! Only relief for about 6 hours even though it's a 12 hour pill. I'm supposed to take 2 a day but if I take a pill after 5 or 6 pm, I don't sleep at all! On a scale from 1-10 I give this medication a 5.5.

Doesn’t work for pain. Lowers quality of life. Just part of the chronic pain community being punished for the actions of others. The only positive is that it doesn’t totally wear off at 8-9 hours but then again, it also doesn’t work for pain.

I just recently got off the pain pump and went through bad withdrawals the last month of emptying all of the Dilaudid from my pain pump, I'll never have a pain pump in again, I went through 5 months lowering my pain pump and now that 8m done they put me on oxycodone 10/325 every 6 hrs , which helped better than the XTampra ER does it does not work for me at all I'm going to have to tell my pain management Dr it's not working for every 12 hrs lol really that's a joke, I'm going back to taking my oxycodone since I still have some left till I go back to PM, I'm in so much pain I fell at Walmart after previous 6 surgeries, that fell . And now I feel at Walmart and damaged my hardware in my back also a ruptured disk that was fused and I have a cage to hold up my spine and doctor said that the MRI shows that the cage is 50% falling into my stomach, if it does I have no idea what the out come is , cause I have also a screw going into my pelvis and it's sticking out a 8th of a inch so I have to have a 3rd opinion due to the surgery complications?? and not sure if I will be able to even have another surgery so I may have to live with ??what I got unless they can go in and take the cage out or fix it back up to hold my spine I'm not sure I'm not don't know what's going on to tell you the truth but my pain is severe and I can't stand it but like I say those extended release oxycodone pills the generic they do not work at all so that's my story, ????????Read More Read Less

It’s been a month now with being bed ridden and laying on heating pad. Very inconvenient as You must take with same amount of food and same thing every time with high fat high calorie, I’ve already put on four pounds in just a week. Hands, feet, eyes are swollen. Not urinating like normal, dark urine and very minimal relief. I’m feeling depressed, high heart rate, anxiety and the weirdest thing is my hands, feet, face and nose are almost numb but every bone in my body hurts. Just very disappointed. I haven’t had a good nights sleep since I have been on this. Tired but incredibly anxious. This is the worst medication. Read More Read Less

This is day five of taking this and I’m really miserable. The only thing it seems to do so far is keep withdrawals away. Very minimal pain relief and most definitely DOES NOT last 12 hours. Takes hours to kick in, and after 7ish hours I’m in uncontrollable discomfort again. Taking ibuprofen and Tylenol just to try and help ease more. MUST eat high cal high fat in order for it to even remotely help. Trying to manage the pain around when I can have little relief when My Son is Home from school and have any quality is almost impossible. I definitely say break through medication is a MUST. Also must eat the same thing and same amount every dose. Maybe if you are able to take break through med this would be efficient?Read More Read Less

I fell down 18 concrete steps crushed My Sciatic & Peripheral Nerves & wear leg braces, woke up paralyzed every morning takes at least 2-3 hours to get mobile! No notice to "My Mobility Specialist or Myself" from insurance! I understand My 15 Oxi. is very expensive every year it goes up about $100/Mn. but it is the ONLY thing to get Me through the day I'm never without Pain but with it I can be mobile! Xtampza does nothing & I mean Nothing, I was crawling on the floor to get to the bathroom, got a itchy rash between all digits, stomach so upset nothing stayed down!! I now know why people went to see Dr. Death, never understood it before!! Nerve pain is worse than giving birth, You know it will end soon, not this!! Lets not talk about Leg cramps,I've tried everything a gal. of water a day wrapped them in heating pad, there's no way to describe this Pain, the Worse, it almost makes You go MAD, Your screaming for God to Help You, while Your crying & praying, it's like the ebb & flow of the ocean, waiting for the crest of the highest wave & praying for it to stop & losing Your Mind!!!! I have a very high tolerance to Pain gave birth Naturally, that's nothing in comparison to Nerve Pain!! I can say don't bother taking this Drug fight for the ones that work for You!!! Good Luck & God Bless I feel Your PAIN!!Read More Read Less

This medication has given me hyponatremia (low sodium). I gained weight because the liquids I drank went into my fat cells rather than my circulatory system. I ended up in the ER with a sodium level of 124. My BP was 87/54. Now I have to take several tabs of salt daily to compensate. I tried to change back to Oxycontin ER 30 x2 per day and insurance won't cover it. I have severe scoliosis with 5-6 crushed discs. I am in constant pain but do not want to go on disability. On top of that the side effects are hot flashes and severe night sweats. Its ridiculous. Now I will be forced to get off this med and have nothing I guess. I have already caused an ulcer with all of the NSAID meds I take too. This med is bunk. It apparently does not work for everyone. Read More Read Less

RUN!! This is by far the worse pain medication I’ve taken - I’m literally counting down to see my PM doctor to get switched back to my regular meds. I’ve tried taking this medication every which way with food and sprinkling it on the food and even played with the outer capsule shell to see how long it took to absorb in water. I feel like I’ve taken NO meds but then feel withdrawals from it. Awful. Believe the other reviews and run the other direction. My pain is severe 24/7 and spikes constantly and extend release has never worked for me - I regret ever trying this. I have every serious autoimmune disease under the sun, double torn shoulders and it doesn’t get easier trying to get your pain managed - all the bad apples have truly ruined so many peoples lives and their chances at legitimate pain treatment.
