DON'T USE THIS PRODUCT. IT IS NOT EFFECTIVE. After my second child I chose to try this option for birth control it was extremely uncomfortable being inserted and after a year and half found out that it had migrated into my stomach and I needed to have surgery to remove. What kind of protection is this? This product should be banned and no one should use. IT DOES'T WORK.

So, me and my girlfriend had our first child, before we had and all the way up to having our child, we would regularly engage in sexual intercourse a minimum of twice per day leading up until the birth of our child, so there was no sex for the two months or so while she was healing, which I understood and didn't press my second head into the equation, somewhere along the lines she got this dre ... I am 18, no kids, and sexually active. I was given a local anesthetic into my cervix via injection in 3 different places. This was a dull, quite harsh probing sensation that I felt quite deep in my cervix. Nothing like a real needle you'd have in your arm (which I am petrified of). If you are scared of the stinging sensation associated with needles, fear not, I didn't feel any stinging. ... Show Full Comment

The reviews for Mirena seem to be very negative or very positive...that's birth control for you. Everyone is different. I personally love Mirena. The insertion was slightly uncomfortable for me, but not painful, and it was over quickly. Again, not everyone will have that experience. There was spotting and cramping on and off for the first two months. It's been 9 months since I had it inser ... Show Full Comment

This is my second Mirena I had my first one right after my son was born in 2009 and my second one in 2014 when the 5 years was up. Personal experience is it's the best decision I could have made! I agree with most of the comments the insertion was VERY painful but bearable take advil ahead of time and plan to be off work that day. It's rough. Have someone drive you. But I felt just like a ...
