I had mine inserted about 4 months ago, I haven't been on bc in 7 years b/c I hated how it made me feel, so after 2 (planned) children I didn't want to take any chances so I opted for Mirena. I like it okay I haven't exp. the same probs I had with the pill. However, my predictable 6 day, heavy period, has gotten lighter but sometimes it is 3 days sometimes 8, the first 3 weeks I didn ... To Pauline, you were asking for some help or advice. This is really something that you will have to try for yourself. Yes, it wasn't the most pleasant experience to have the IUD inserted (mine was a little jarring because I have never had kids), but just take a few asprin or advil to get relaxed and make sure to get a good night's sleep afterwards. The insertion was extremly painfull, i almost fainted. Its being 7 months since i had it inserted and for the fist 4 months i was bleeding non-stop now is on and off but a little lighter. What really drive me insane is the horrible cramps and the lower back pains. I like the fact that i dont have to worry about getting pregnant but i don't know if is really worth it.

I've had the mirena for approx 2 years. I have experienced terrible lower back pain on and off for 2 years. It has just occurred to me that it might be the IUD. Has anyone else experienced this??? I have a gyne appt. in 2 weeks, I might have it removed, but I don't want my periods back. I haven't had any hair loss or weight gain, but the back pain is awful.
