Ok I just got the Mirena implanted about two weeks ago. I was very scared to go get it done but I had to. I am 21 with two kids so I needed some form of birth control. The patches made me bleed for three weeks at a time, I forgot to take the pills, the ring was uncomfortable so I had no other choice.. well the insertion hurt real bad but afterwards it was fine. For those having early pain...I have had Mirena since Oct 2005. It was painful to have implanted (I've never had children) and I had cramping and irregular bleeding for the first few months. After the initial discomfort and inconvenience, everyting is great! My periods are regular (and shorter), and I love not having to bother with a pill, patch, etc. For me, it was well worth it!

I love that i don't get pregnant but thats all i love about this thing. I have had the mirena 14 months. I loss my hair horrible. I have gained 40 lbs in the past 14 months. The weight gain has killed my self esteem. DONT DO THIS TO YOURSELF!!! I'M CALLING FIRST THING IN THE MORNING TO GET THIS REMOVED.

I have had this since October 18, 2007 and i hate it, The hair loss, mood swing and of course the bleeding for the last 8 months. Of course it work cause your not having sex. I hate it and i am getting it removed

when i got mirena put in it was very painful and it took a couple of tries. I have had hair loss, no weight gain but no weight loss, acne, cramping, headaches, and heavy and long periods too. i'v been breastfeeding since i got it inserted 6 weeks after giving birth and have noticed that my little one has gotten sick alot. dont know if its from mirena but i have read its not good for babies so ...
