I started microgestin fe 1/20 as continuous use (skip the sugar pills) to control seizures that cluster in PMS and to prevent pregnancy. It has done both. I switched after the continuous use of NuvaRing (replace every 4 weeks) did not stop my period, caused a yeast infection, gave me cervicitis and left me bent over howling with cramps that went down my legs and up my abdomen with heavy bleeding ... I switched after the continuous use of NuvaRing (replace every 4 weeks) did not stop my period, caused a yeast infection, gave me cervicitis and left me bent over howling with cramps that went down my legs and up my abdomen with heavy bleeding NuvaRing clearly wasn't for me but Microgestin is much better. I have mild headaches and am nauseous, but it is bearable and nothing compared to the side effects of anticonvulsants. The only concerning thing is my sense of hunger and thirst are basically turned off. I have lost weight and have to remember to drink water to stay hydrated. I am also constipated but that may be because my eating and drinking water is totally thrown off, and if I forget eat or drink I get headaches, probably from low blood sugar and dehydration and not the pill. I also get moody when I don't eat, so if you have moods wings make sure you're eating healthily and regularly. If you experience nausea, headaches or constipation, make sure you are drinking water and eating lots of fruits and vegetables. Literally write it down, I didn't realize I was only drinking 2 glasses of water a day and skipping food until dinner until I kept a log because my hunger and thirst were switched off. I have been using rephresh gel every 4 days since the yeast infection from NuvaRing and my vagina is healing. I will keep using it to avoid another yeast infection as my body adjusts. If you feel dry just use an estrogen free moisturizer, I've had good luck with Replens. It's not a perfect situation (which would be zero side effects ever!) but as far as medications go, I can live with this, and to have seizure control and birth control in the same pill is saving me serious cash and side effects.

First and foremost - this works good as a birth control and i use it on time every date. Cons - I have been having mood swings now for about 3-4 months on this pill. I wake up angry and hostile. Very moody. Makes me very nauseous and sensitive to smells of all kinds. If I don't eat immediately in the morning, I'm very sick. And all of a sudden no period?!? I rather be back on Junel FE 1/20 over this stuff. I don't mind the increase cup sizes but I feel very bloated and moody and sick.

I’ve been reading reviews for this birth control all night. Honestly I should have read these earlier!! I’ve been bleeding for 45 DAYS!!! I bleed ALL THE WAY THROUGH my two first packs; I’m talking about a regular flow. “Breakthrough bleeding” my ass! (Excuse my language). I’m smiling one minute, ready to fight the next, crying for hours and for what??...because I can’t make a decision on what to wear for the day. Seriously, it’s my advice to look into another birth control! My breasts have grown a whole cup size AND THEY HURT. How does it look for a grown woman to be rubbing her breasts because bras hurt, as well as shirts? Anything that is restricting in any kind of way…HURTS! My clothes are getting tighter due to bloating. I’m completely over this drug! My doctor is suggesting that I take it for three months…how about NO! I need some nothing else. This can’t be worth it. I would get back on YAZ, but those allegations are too scary.
