I found this drug to be somewhat effective. My hot flashes were lessened and mood swings not as severe. THEN I found about the horses that suffered horribly to produce this drug and decided to try another drug, Estradiol. That works just as well possibly better as my hot flashes are non-existent now.

I took Premarin for the last 8 years for severe hot flashes. It was a wonder drug. I am now 58 and my Dr. Wants me off the drug. I stopped taking it 1-1-2013 and severe hot flashes and night sweats returned. I was off Premarin fro Jan till last week, July and cannot take it any longer. FDA just approved Paxil, generic, paroxetine CR 12.5. I started meds 2 days ago waiting for it to kick in. Side effects with Permarin, very, very tender breasts and leg cramps. I really miss this drug. I never had a night sweat or hot flashes while taking it. Anyone taking Paxil for hot flashes and night sweats? Read More Read Less

In 1979, at age 28, I had my ovaries removed and have been taking Premarin at .625 since then and I have had nothing but positive results. Each year during my physical I discuss this medication with my primary physician and they still feel this is the correct option for me.

Can't live without it! No side effects at all while taking this medication; Blankets off, blankets on while not taking. Basic...total misery if I miss a few days!!

I had a hysterectomy in 2001. The hot flashes started while I was still in the hospital. They were frequent and severe,I also had frequent night sweats. My physician prescribed premerin. The symptoms abated--what a relief!!

Started with .625 and bumped up to .9 after 6 weeks at the lower dose and still having flashes. Dr. also added progesterone in Jan. However, 3 mos. later I am having severe pain in my groin areas, severe sleepiness and depression. I am getting off this before I go crazy. I can't stand feeling bad 3 weeks out of 4 a month!

I have been on Premarin 0.3 for 6 years. My Dr had me stop to see how I would do. I quit cold turkey and after 2 weeks I started sweating more. And then I noticed my mood changed. I got irratated easy. My husband noticed it as well! After the 3rd week I had enough. I got back on the premarin. I am doing well now. I am 53 and had a hysterectomy in 2003.

After a complete hysterectomy in Sept., I began having hot flashes. I started on Premarin 1 week ago and have not seen any improvements in the hot flashes. I'm on a low dosage(.375) and wonder how long it takes to take effect. Anyone know?

I am taking HRT (Prempro for 5 yrs+) for a total of 21 years. I feel terrific, I am 5'7", weigh 140 lbs, I am 65 years old, no gray hair, muscular with no fat + a very active mind that has read most of the classics. Neither do I have a wrinkle on my face and I have never had any cosmetic surgery. I ride an exercise bike every other day for 50 min. and I lift free weights on the in-between days. I'm sure genetics plays a part - I'm Swedish and German - but I will continue to take Prempro indefinitely. Read More Read Less

Since I am at high risk for osteoporosis but not for heart disease or breast cancer my doctor has me on the lowest dose possible. When I tried to go off hrt 4 years ago it triggered a migraine, which is one of the problems I've had in the past.
