Like many stories here, I too had my gallbladder removed to suddenly find myself having severe diarrhea and gastric cramps after eating. I was prescribed this medication and it works wonderful. I only take a single dose in the morning. If you take this medication, just make sure you take it two hours before or four hours after other medications, as it interferes with most meds.

I was diagnosed with collagenous colitis 2 years ago & could not tolerate the 5 ASA's. My new gastroenterologist suggested cholestyramine, 9 grams twice a day, & it began working immediately, even though it can take 1 -2 weeks to work.
