I've been put on this medication for excessive sweating. Only been on it for a couple of weeks. I've been waking feeling anxious, drowsy during the day, frequent loose bowel movements. I'm wondering if these symptoms subside after a while.

Dry mouth, ok can handle that, but the drowsiness for me was awful. The worst part is it was completely ineffective for me. I had been on a different medication for overactive bladder for years and was happy with it. I unexpectedly found myself on a different insurance who wouldn't cover the one I took. So had to switch to one they would cover. May as well eat a placebo!

Developed urge incontinence with enlarged prostate( that worsened over year) continued after TURP. 15mg oxybutyin xl once daily gave immediate relief(off pads after 2 days); urination frequency cut in half, even with increased fluid. Tolerating mild dry mouth/eyes/throat and drowsiness. 30 days later I'm reducing to 10mg to see if it helps reduce drowsiness. Side effects better than incontinence and urinating every half hour. Now going every 2 hrs day and sleeping thru night 10pm-6 am then need to urinate and back to bed for another hourRead More Read Less

Over the past few years have been trying to get control urinary issues. This is what has worked for me Ditrpan XL 5 mg tablet in am. At bedtime I take 3 5mg tablets for a total of 20 mg daily. It has helped when I searched all my Rx for side effects. I eliminated one Rx and within a week I was sleeping 6 straight hours. So much better than the 1.5-2 prior.

5 mg once a day for 3 months, then increased to twice a day. After 5 months, experienced dry eyes, did nothing for my overactive bladder, and worst of all, caused me to have Tinnitus!!

Does cause dry mouth. I use dry mouth oral rinse in am after brushing teeth. This does help till late afternoon. Then chew on peppermints or gum till after dinner brush again and use rinse. Good for the night 95% of the time. Only draw back had, to lower the frequency on taking due to the lack of urinating for couple of days. Taking this is better than constantly wearing pads or diapers.

my sister was almost 7 years old when she was put on ditropan for a sort of bladder infection and pain during urination. my stepmother was afraid to give the medicine to my sister since it has such bad side effects, and since my stepmother had a bad experience with ditropan once before. my sister had the liquid kind that was raspberry flavored. the good thing is she never experienced any side effects. i was almost 15 at the time and we all looked out for here while she was on the medication. i think the medicine was very effective , easy to use and she said it had a good flavor. the other part that concerned us was since this was prescribed to her in the middle of summer was the fact that you have to be careful not to become overheated while on this medication. another thing we were concerned about was the fact that it could have caused blurred vision. i would imagine as a child if your vision went blurry that would be a scary experience. my stepmother had to dress here in cool clothing to and slip on clogs to help make sure she doesnt get overheated . information also said that this could have caused vomiting also.Read More Read Less

I was put on this medication for my over active bladder, which it made my condition worse. I took this medication for just over two weeks before I gave up on it for 3 reason. I was getting very little sleep at night, due to this medication making me pee more at night. It not only gave me a slight dry mouth but it gave me a metal taste in my mouth too.

I used to wake up wetting the bed with no control and very little control in the daytime. I'm 53 and have been on this for about 10 years now. I use it once a day. It works! But it glues my mouth shut, always very dry, especially when I wake in the morning, and it constipates me and blurs my vision. Now I have cataracts and I suspect the medicine may have caused it. Plus, I can't always totally empty my bladder when I void. And I have swelling that requires the use of a diuretic along with very mild hypertension. This medicine is suspected of causing the symptoms. The blurred vision, which has been from day one (cataracts are fairly new, within the last 3 years) and the dry mouth are the most annoying symptoms, but there are too many symptoms from taking this medicine. Now I also have restless leg syndrome and I think it also contributes to various forms of arthritis which I have been developing. I have good muscle control from doing kegels, (had good control before this problem arose) but the problem persists, largely due to anxiety and depression (which are hereditary and I have been on medication for anxiety/depression for about 20 years). I'm very frustrated with this medicine, especially since I now have cataracts and need surgery. I've decided to see a gynecologist and seek an alternate form of medicine and/or treatment method.Read More Read Less
