I use this drug for RLS. It has been very effective but also can make me very drowsy. I take it before bed because of that. Sometimes I feel like I have just been 'drugged' and can hardly function to get myself to bed, sometimes it doesn't make me sleepy at all! Strange. The other thing I have noticed is that if I wake up in the middle of the night I can't always get back to sleep. I haven't reall...

I have been on this pill for 1 week. I keep waking up it does not help my RLS. What I have found is that this medicine makes me paranoid that someone is breaking into my house or that I am going to die in my sleep. The first day I tried this drug it made me feel like I was floating out of my body. I will no longer take this drug anymore and I feel it would be in the best interest for the makers of...

I started Requip for RLS when I was taken off pain meds for a spinal cord injury, which resolved over time, but later found that it also helped with nerve pain. I found that if I take too high of a dose than my body needs I will vomit to the point of dry heaving, but if I take the smallest dose possible I’m fine. I often only need 0.5 mg for the nerve pain, sometimes 1 mg, but I start with 0.5 and just add as needed. My son also takes it for nerve pain and sometimes only needs 0.25 mg. I don’t know if this is related, but we are both autistic and have realized those moments where we can’t stop moving is because of nerve pain or something similar to RLS and I think there must be a correlation with autism. It helps so much with our discomfort just being in our own bodies. But I should add we both also have autoimmune diseases and spinal cord issues, so have legitimate nerve pain, too, so hard to say what is causing what symptoms and why it works in us. He has juvenile-onset ankylosing spondylitis and I have lupus, RSD/CRPS, and a spinal cord injury.Read More Read Less

I am an 85-year-old male with a variety of health problems; about 20 years ago I had a sleep study for sleep apnea. I was prescribed CPAP for the apnea and Ropinirole for RLS. I take 2mg twice a day, at midnight when going to bed and at noon after lunch. Unless I’m late it has been 100% effective, the benefits make any negative side effects tolerable. Due to other recent problems, I drink a large amount of water which I suspect is flushing the ropinirole and other beneficial supplements from my system, I’m urinating constantly. Recently I started getting intense RLS about an hour before my normal schedule midnight and noon. I discovered this forum when looking for an explanation. I will just have to advance my schedule. I've been taking Ropinirole 0.5 mg for 8 months for RLS . I started having episodes of extreme fatigue & dizziness after 1-2 weeks. I feared I would lose consciousness. I discovered that these episodes were caused by sudden drop in blood pressure (BP: 69/47). WebMD Listed Side Effects: "Sudden drop in blood pressure, which can cause dizziness, nausea, and fainting. This is more likely when you are first starting the medication or when your dose is increased, or when you get up suddenly". This happens less often than at first. But it still happens. It is not working as well as Sinemet. Asking MD for different drug. Read More Read Less

My Neurologist put me on Ropinirole in 2019. Since day 1, I have had almost all of the side effects. I have told him that. He has taken no action to help me. When I take it, for approximately 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours my body twitches & I am in extreme pain. I get muscle spasms. I have been in severe withdrawal many times from this pill. I didn't know what was wrong. I ask myself, "Have I always been this dumb?" I have fallen many times. I stay nauseous. Yet nobody has tried to help me. I have night terrors & hallucinations. Worst drug ever. Read More Read Less

have severe RLS, taking ropinerole 4mg at night works most nights however still get the odd episode, however I would like to mention to anyone who needs help and is willing to try, 12 months ago I started using Pure Absorb CBD each night, unbelievable the amount of help this gave me in controlling the shakes etc, I am so impressed with it I would pay anything. This is not from over the counter ie holland and barrett but from a specialist store online CBD One in Chorley. No I do not work for them or any relation but was recommended by my friend who started taking it for MS. Worth anyone with RLS having a go for at least a month.Read More Read Less

This medication was horrible. I honestly thought I was going to die with the horrible side effects. I had no control on making decisions. I felt as though I couldn’t communicate. I was nauseous, terrible headache, lots of pain.

I have had RLS for at least 30 years. I remember the first time I tried ropinirol. My RLS would begin around 7:00 p.m. and just drove me insane with the cramping and feelings like bugs were crawling inside my legs. I took the ropinirole at 6:00 p.m. and waited and waited, and nothing happened. That was the first night that I got a decent night's sleep in ages. Yes it does make you a little sleepy but the drug is a godsend. Perhaps 15-20 years later I needed to increase the dose but just 1 mg and I am still on the 2 mg to this day. Read More Read Less

I am taking for RLS. It works most of the time but I still have episodes all during the day or night. They aren't as often as before but I still get them. Dr may change my dose next month when I have my next visit.

I used it for restless legs, however, I got severe headaches from taking it. I didn't figure out the connection for years, but when I did, I stopped requip and the headaches stopped.

I find that sometimes one tablet (2mg) works; other times it may take three tablets over two hours for Ropinerole to relieve the pain/discomfort in my legs.

Have been on Ropinirole for 6 months. It has had no effect on my arm tremor. I have counted 16 symptoms that I suspect are side effects of the drug (everything from nausea and fuzzy-headedness to chills, hypersensitivity to sound, yawning, congestion and allergy symptoms). At 10.5 mg/day I felt I was simply battling the drug and decided to come off it to see if the side effects went away. They did. Now I just have the arm tremor again.

I take Ropinirole for RLS which I've had for nearly 10 years. I didn't start taking it until a few years ago. Wish I had known about sooner. Anyway, it was working great the first 2 years, a wonder drug for RLS, but I do believe you can build up a tolerance to it as it has in me. So folks, be careful if you are going to take it. Yes, it works, but you may want to have a back up med (approved by your doctor) in case Ropinirole stops working well for you.

I'm 70 years old. The last few years I've had RLS occasionally. I'm now on chemo for liposarcoma. The past few months I was lucky to get 4 hrs of sleep a night. My oncologist put me on Ropinirole (1 mg before bedtime) 2 weeks ago. This stuff is great! Now I get 8hrs sleep a night. No side effects. I wake up fully rested. No more RLS. It makes the chemo more bearable.

Works well when I get right dosage. It seems if dosage is too high the RLS is worse than if zero meds were taken. Too low a dose and the syndrome rears itself. Most time a 1 mg dose is best but not everyday.

Iâ??m a 62 year old female pt with history of what was thought to be Essential Tremors (ET) that turned out to be Parkinsonâ??s Disease. I was on Topomax 200 mg twice daily for the Tremors and continue that dosage but when my symptoms increased and appeared to be more than ET a DaT Scan was performed and showed I had Parkinsonâ??s. I was put on Carbidopa/Levadopa 25/100mg twice daily. That didnâ??t decrease symptoms so my neurologist put me on Ropinirole XL 2mg daily. This combination has, so far, done very well and I have not experienced any side effects or reactions from the Ropinirole. It does cause the side effect as stated in side effects, of sudden or unexpected sleepiness which a number of my medications do so I do not drive and am prepared for that and have found that even though I donâ??t feel like Iâ??m not able to fall back asleep, if I lay back down and get comfortable and do deep breathing exercises, before I know it itâ??s morning, time to get up and Iâ??m awake. I do feel a little groggy but not any more than if I had taken Benadryl or Diazepam and am better as soon as I have my coffee. This is not my only problem for Iâ??m 100% disabled, have chronic back problems and am on multiple medications for my back including strong pain medications, muscle relaxers as well as Lyrica for Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy and Fibromyalgia so one would think I would be dizzy, sleepy and off balance all the time! I did have those symptoms with my Parkinsonâ??s until I started taking the Ropinirole. When I started taking it, those symptoms seem to be under control at this time. Iâ??m sure the Ropinirole will have to be increased eventually because itâ??s one of the only medications that can be increased. The other medications are maxed out. Read More Read Less
