It worked pretty well for me except it made me have unbearable heat flushes all day and night. I took it for a few days before it started and it lasted a few days after I stopped.

From pebbles to ahhhhhh (posting on behalf of my '85-year young' mother) .... Though the directions say to take one a day, one every other day truly showed how well COLACE worked. One day, regular bowel movement, on the off days, pebbles. No bloating, abdominal pain, or any other unpleasant side effects mentioned in other posts. This product is SO MUCH EASIER to use than those mixed with water. One and done ... we're sold!

Okay, so this stuff works for me I take it early in the morning before 10 and I don't eat for two hour and once I do I get cleaned out. Only down side is the the bloating and gas, my word the pain was horrible my stomach bloated up and I have gas pains shooting up and down my back and heart burn. I had to take couple of tums. I only take this when I absolutely have to, I notice if I take it back to back the effects don't work, so waiting a few weeks before taking it again when I'm really desperate for a BM helps. Been taking 3 tablets per day for more than a month and still constipated. I drink lots of water so that's not the issue here. Definitely not wasting any more money on this product

I've been taking 2 capsules every 12 hours after 3 at bedtime didn't help. The bottle is almost empty and I have ZERO relief. I won't be wasting any more $$$ on this overpriced junk.

My gastroenterologist suggested I take this medication 3 times a day. I have intestinal immotility due to scleroderma. I suffered extreme abdominal bloating and pain. Not realizing, at the time, that the Colace was the problem, I continued taking it for several months. It finally occurred to me to try stopping the Colace for a few days to see what would happen. After one day of not taking this drug, I felt complete relief. My abdomen is back to its normal size and I am not suffering extreme abdominal pain. The Colace never did improve my bowel movements. I would caution everyone to stop taking this drug if abdominal bloating and pain occur while taking it.Read More Read Less

I am having to take several different medications; a side effect of those medicines is constipation. Colace was suggested during my discharge from the Emergency Room. Very mild, easy to take stool sofener. I had no side effects and it no adverse drug interaction. I highly recommend this over the counter. **Be sure to check with your doctor if you take certain medicines for chronic conditions.**

I take narcotics for pain and cymbalta for depression. I have had a time with hard, impossible to pass stools. Suppositories and saline enema's have been necessary frequently in addition to laxatives like mineral oil and milk of magnesia which take 2-3 days to work for me. Never had any success at all with Colace until someone told me to take it with each of 3 meals. Hooray, this works great! The gas has been horrid but at least I'm not agonizing while on the toilet.

I saw a GI specialist because I have issues with my intestines. Not sure if it's IBS or some sort of malabsorption or intolerance to food. She recommended this to me suggesting that I should be having 2 bowel movements a day (at the weight I am) and that emptying my bowels in addition to the changes I was already making in my diet would provide me relief. She assured me it wouldn't make me have to go, it would just make the stools easier to pass and a little bigger in length. Well, she was wrong. I never had a problem with bowel movements. Never been constipated. However, not only did this medication give me worse gas and cramping than I've ever felt, it also gives me incomplete bowel movements. I never feel "finished" and it causes more gas and bloating. It's been more uncomfortable and embarassing than any of my other symptoms had previously which caused me to see a doctor in the first place. I have stopped taking this medication and am going back to just regulating my diet and trying to lose weight. I was going okay with that. Stay away from drugs unless it's a life-threatening issue. They cause more problems than anything else.Read More Read Less

Had a colon resection and had trouble having a complete bowel movement. Was cramping and having to go several times to empty. This has helped me to have to only have one bowel movement to complete. Less irritation for me too.
