I have been taking Bentyl, as needed, for about a year for IBS. I have recently changed my diet and have eliminated most of my "trigger foods", but sometimes out of the blue, I still get severe cramping. When I say severe, I mean literally doubled over in pain, nauseous, and covered in a cold sweat. I also have Multiple Sclerosis, and this pain is worse than any MS pain I have experience ... When I say severe, I mean literally doubled over in pain, nauseous, and covered in a cold sweat. I also have Multiple Sclerosis, and this pain is worse than any MS pain I have experienced thus far! Bentyl has been amazing for me. I take 20 mg. as soon as the pain starts, and within 30 minutes, life is more manageable. It does make me drowsy and a bit dizzy, but these side effects are very much worth it to me.

Severe dizziness, drowsiness, lightheadedness, weakness, blurred vision, excitement, extreme anxiety, fast, irregular heart beat, increase in blood pressure---helped ease abdominal pain but didn't address nausea, gas, bloating, acid reflux, deep belching, etc. Most definitely could not drive while on this medication. In fact, basically had to remain in bed. Extreme bad reaction.

I've had IBS for 40 years and am 65. It stops my colon from being spastic. It took this long to find a doctor who knew what to give me for the cramping. The spasms were debilitating, so I will be eternally grateful for this drug!
