I'v been in alot of rehabs. This drug is the only thing that brings me relief the modivation to live life. The setback is i have a substance abuse problem. My ? is what do i do. I would rather live happy and die early than be in living hell. I know the addictiveness will be there but that is what support is for right.

After 6 years of drinking every day, sometimes all day for days at a time, i went to the ER because I knew I was going to be sick and they gave me librium as an RX after i left the hospital. It makes me dopey by the 3rd dose in the early evening, but it keeps me so calm that even when I do think about drinking I feel calm enough to deal with the urges. I am also taking Antabuse. i was hospitalized several times for acute pancreatites. at least 6 days each time. horrible withdrawls, even decked a nurse and was restrained. sorry. since ive been taking 25mg 3 times daily the mental craving, 18 or more beers a day is still there it really seems to keep the physical problems down even though ive got a long way to go.

I am on 10 mg every 12 hrs as needed--it works but makes me extremely sleepy. It helps, but I only take it when I start having trouble with withdrawals. I have been drinking daily for about 4 years. Nothing takes away the main desire to NOT drink--it's something I've had to dig deep within to find. I could drink a gallon right now but I'm determined not to.
