After taking Evista for 9 months, my right leg suddenly got so weak (and painful) that I couldn't use it to get up from a chair or go up a step. I quit taking it and most of the strength has returned but I'm not sure it will ever be back to normal. I've been in good physical condition and take no other drugs. I've been taking evista for about 4 months. I have no side effects but after reading the comments I'm getting worried. I'm reasonably healthy, 51 yrs, in menapause for about 5 yrs; I smoke. I was diagnosed with "preni" ostoprosis which is why my gyn put me on this med. For the past three weeks my left eye has been blood shot although it doesn't bother me (other than appearance). Tod ... My doctor recommeded evista for prevention of osteoporosis and breast cancer after menopause. I am 57 and am borderline osteoporosis. I have been taking the medication for 4 months. The first week I gained 5 pounds (going from 123 to 128. I have been 123 for years. I am very active. My weight then leveled off at 128. I experienced hot flashes as well. These decreased over time. Day 1 - light headed and hot flashes Day 2 - lower back pain, hot flashes and light headed, lower leg cramps.

I took Evista for 9 months and then suddenly had severe weakness and pain in my rt. leg. Then my left leg also developed pains. I quit taking Evista and the weakness and pains soon disappeared.
