I have been taking microgestin for little over 3 months now and I am pleased with it. My periods are light and almost non-existent. No cramps, only some mild cramping a couple days before my period. My appetite increased and bit but I'm not worried about that. No ugly side effects besides that my sex drive has sky rocketed and I'm moody sometimes. Its VERY effective for preventing pregnanc ... I have not got pregnant but since on Microgestin I can not lose weight, swell, and breakthrough bleeding during the middle of the pack. I take them continually so I will not have a period since I am 49. Because without the pill I am like clockwork and very fertile still but has very heavy bleeding.

The other birth control pills with lighter doses of hormones gave me trouble with constant breakthrough bleeding. I was surprised at the problems other people have suffered since I have experienced nothing like that. Clearly not for everyone, but it can work well, t ... Show Full Comment

I was taking this pill for almost 2 months when I was sent to the ER for its HORRIBLE side effects. It started with a horrible headache and then my left hand went completely numb. I then had blurred vision and was unable to communicate or think of simple every day words. I also had difficulty breathing. Once I was in the ER, they ran several tests to check for blood clots as well as my heart. All ... Show Full Comment
