I am 65 yrs. old. Have been taking Prempro for approx. 12- 15 yrs. and hope to continue forever. I look and feel great. No side effects that I'm aware of. My Dr. encourages me to stop taking, but I keep telling her, "why fix something that isn't broken". I started out on the highest dose and 3 or 4 yrs ago switched to the lowest dosage. I have no history of breast cancer in my family, it's ...

I am 82 years old, and I've been using Prem Pro for 25 years. The dosage has been reduced steadily over the years until I'm now at the lowest (0.3/1.5 mg tabs). I take the tabs on alternate days, and the dosage is enough to keep my vaginal tissue comfortable, and I enjoy a continued sense of well-being. I'm very active in golf, Pilates, hiking, etc. My bone density scans are all normal, and I get regular pap smears. I wish there were more M.D.'s willing to take the time to focus on the benefits of HRT for women. It's been a life enhancer for me.Read More Read Less

I am 65 years old and have taken the low dose since 2012. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and must discontinue, since estrogen feeds my type of cancer. Otherwise I would have continued taking it.

This drug causes BREAST CANCER. Alot of research has proven this over many years. Doctors give it because ot is FDA approved, but needs to be removed from the market.

I started taking Prempro when I hit menopause, about 17 years ago. During that time I lost interest in sex and my body was not producing enough lubrication to make sex enjoyable or satisfying. My female PCP recommended and prescribed Prempro. I tried a patch originally but found it uncomfortable, switched to oral supplement instead. I moved from NJ to MA 10 yes ago, my gynecologist refused to continue my Rx for Prempro however, my new PCP here has continued the prescription for me. I took a break for about 4 months and again this seemed to affect my libido so I just started again and my husband and I are both very happy! I am 67 and in very good shape, I believe in maintaining a balance of: mental, physical, emotional and sexual health.Read More Read Less

I had my last period in July of 2021 at 51.5 yrs old. I quickly started with awful hot flashes and a constant fear of suddenly aging quickly and becoming “old”. I’m not ready to go down the senior road yet (nor will I ever be but It’s part of life) but the lowest dose of prempro stopped my hot flashes in 2-3 day max. I haven’t had a hot flash in the several years I have been on prempro. FYI it doesn’t keep hair from going silver but I can sleep at night knowing I’m still youthful, not losing precious bone density and will stay on prempro forever if my Dr. allows. I haven’t gained weight, but, I just keep burning more calories than I take in daily if I gain a pound or 2. Not too much rocket science there. Prempro is a miracle and I have only the most positive results while taking it these last 2 years. We can grow older gracefully. Before prempro I swore I could see and feel the negative impacts of my hormones running away from my body screaming. If your thinking of trying it do it! Lowest dose possible and get on with feeling good again!Read More Read Less

Started taking prempro for hot flashes, fatigue and extreme joint pain, has helped tremendously with no side effects that I can tell. What I didn’t realize is that I had been going through perimenopause for awhile, but full blown menopause hit me like a ton of bricks. I thought I was getting rheumatoid arthritis because my hands were so sore every morning. Hot flashes kept me up all night, rotating between sweating to death, then freezing. The brain fog and fatigue were getting to me too. Once taking prempro all my symptoms subsided really quickly. Hot flashes gone, no more joint pain, and have a lot more energy. Even what I thought was the beginning of IBS has resolved. I had no idea hormones could affect so many things! Much better, no noticeable weight gain. Workout 5-6 days a week anyway but had felt like workouts less effective and body changing prior to taking prempro. So far, it’s increased quality of life tremendously and I’m only in second month of taking the lowest dose available. Haven’t had period in 6 months and has not returned as has for other reviewers. I think some body chemistry works with this drug and others do not. It it doesn’t work, keep looking for alternative, don’t suffer. Read More Read Less

I had irregular cycles, negative libido, night sweats, hot flashes, irritability (that's putting it mildly), and brain fog. My doctor was very open to starting HRT, putting me on the middle dose. I'm only on day 11 and have been bleeding for 9 days straight. Other symptoms of peri-meno have improved (except libido). Checking with my doctor to see about switching to every other day. Right now I'm not sure I'll continue.

It just stopped the night sweats. That's all nothing else has happened as far losing weight or hair loss. I'm about to go off of it. I've been on it for about a year and a half now and I don't see any reason to continue. There's got to be something better.

Doctor started me on Prempro 0.625mg/2.5mg ("I start all my patients with this."). After one month, my hot flashes were the worst they had ever been and I had a continuous headache. After two months, I still had a headache and was weeping into my lunch. My husband expressed concern at how my mood had collapsed, and I had to keep retreating to bed to nurse my headache. Doctor said it couldn't possibly be the Prempro, but stop taking it if you want to. I did. Within two weeks, I felt so much better. Doctor said he won't prescribe me an alternative HRT.Read More Read Less

I started taking Prempro when I was 50. I was having hot flashes (but rather "warm" flashes for me) all day and night. I would wake up at night and couldn't go back to sleep - no matter how hard I tried. I started having headaches - which was very unusual for me. And sex....forget it! I was back to the hormone level of an 11 year old. What 11 year old wants sex? I very reluctantly asked my doctor for hormone replacement. I started out at a full dose and quickly realized it was way too much. I was bleeding almost every day. So.....I started cutting the tablet (thank heavens it was hard) into two pieces with a pill splitter. I hit the jackpot! I'm 57 now and I plan on taking this low dose for the rest of my life. I have no side affects whatsoever. Read More Read Less

Took about three weeks for me to notice any benefits: hot flashes were nearly gone, brain fog was lifting, mood was improving. About 1-2 months into treatment I was feeling better than I had in a long time. After a full three months is when things went downhill: I had breast pain/swelling, fatigue, joint pain, and noticed that I had put 5 lbs on around my midsection (despite working out 6 days a week and not changing my diet). These side-effects became unbearable so I had my doctor switch me to a bioidentical HRT. Super frustrating because it started out so promising. Read More Read Less

It saved my life. I have depression but no antidepressant has ever worked for me. My psychiatrist suggested this and I was able to function again in all aspects of life. Some doctors still try to move you to a vegetable supplement which does not work!! The first study on this drug was totally flawed in terms of scientific protocol. The second was much more positive and so no increase in cancer but couldn't determine whether it helped prevent heart attacks. I have experienced none of the common side effects. As 4 the severe side effects go through most drugs u take and u will see the same ones. Drug companies are trying to protect themselves & will scare you to death to do that, I was traveling and lost a packet. This is not a pleasant drug to go off as all the synptons u went on it for come back.i have been using it for over 20 years. The only objection I have is the urine from horses. I believe they could make a synthetic with the same properties of horse urine but apparently they don't care or don't want to spend the money.Read More Read Less

I have been on this med a year and what a difference. I had horrible hot flashes, especially when sleeping, and this has done an excellent job in combating the flashes. I was actually able to sleep my full time without waking up!!!

Have not had a period in 5 years and after starting on this, had discharge and slight spotting, always needing a pantie liner. Felt more mood swings, cranky to sad. Only wanted to go on this for vaginal dryness and painful intercourse. - this has improved some, but not happy with the mood swings and spotting. Has not increased my desire for sex either.

I’ve been taking this medication for about a year to combat intense hot flashes. Has worked extremely well and also supports my waning, menopausal sex drive. I feel great on this drug and have had no side effects. Downside... it is expensive.

It's been several years since I quit taking Prempro due to constant yeast infections of which the Dr. didn't believe me. I quit taking it and the yeast infections never came back but left me in a condition where I could no longer have sex with my husband due to severe raw pain.
