I have been using the 5mg Nasal Zomig for the past couple years. Prior to that I too had many trips to the hospital ER, and sometimes with no results. Their "cocktail" as they called it (up to 4 different drug" to combat the headache, usually only added to my suffering as it induced vomiting. Zomig has been a miracle for me. It usually combats the migraine within an hour to 3 depending on how soon I take it when the headache sets in. I use to try to hold out and wait to take it hoping that my headache would subside on its own. I waited mainly because of the side effects I would end up with from it. Mainly I end up with severe muscle/joint aches all over my body. I feel like someone took a baseball bat to me...and hurt for at least a day. I too also have pain/ache in my nose area. I had surgery years ago on a deviated septum and thought that perhaps the medicine may effect areas where you had surgery or cuts or damage possibly. But all in all, I bear with it, because as much as I hate the side effects, it has to date been the only thing I have found to rid me of the headaches. I also take Magnesium daily and have found that my occurance of having migraines have been reduced since I started on using the Magnesium.

I am 53 and have migraines since my mid teens. As migraines go, most of my life they were on the 9-10 pain range. Now that I'm older and in the peri-menopause/entering menopause phase, if there was a higher pain scale range, I would make them at LEAST a 15! For the most part, thank goodness for my Zomig. I take 5MG tablets. I'm fortunate enough to receive almost the max with my insurance of 18 tab ... Show Full Comment

I take 5MG tablets. I'm fortunate enough to receive almost the max with my insurance of 18 tablets per month (which I DO need). As all of you poor souls know, these tablets for the most part are like gold. I've been taking Zomig for about 4 years now mostly without side effects back then. Now, with my growing peri-menopause/menopause symptoms, and fluctuating hormonal issues, my migraines are really in a tailspin and taking my Zomig leaves me extremely fatigued; almost totally exhausted (I'm going to see an endocrinologist soon as my Primary and Gyn doctors can't seem to find out why I'm SO exhausted and my blood work comes back good/normal (thank God, of course) I don't have diabetes however. Also, the Zomig sometimes make me a bit confused and irritable, but I have to say, I believe this is also duw to my current state of crazy hormonal imbalances. All this going on (which is totally normal given my age), plus my unfortunate "gene" for migraine kick in and are making me miserable. I hear sometimes after (post) menopause, migraines can lessen or even disappear, sometimes worsen. Heaven forbid; given my many, many decades of suffering. Hopefully I will be spared. I feel for all that are plagued by this terrible disease, bless you all.

I think Zomig is a life-saver!!! I do get migraines monthly (started when I got pregnant for my first child at 28). The only side-effect I don't like is I seem to get skin sensitivity. By this I mean my skin actually hurts if someone touches me too hard. The tip of my nose gets very sore too. I haven't read anyone else getting this symptom. Other than that, if I take the medication at the on-set of a migraine it is generally 15-45 minutes before it is gone and I can function again. I highly recommend it if you can take it and your insurance will pay for it. Otherwise it costs me $60 per pill. Outrageous!!!!

Side effects - throat tightness/sensitivity, meaning hot drinks need to be cooled a little longer. Maybe make me a little drowsy? Certainly help me sleep. I've had migraines since I was fifteen and suffered terribly until I was given Zomig. I had been on everything before and nothing worked. Of course, different meds work differently on everyone but if you are looking for a medication to try for migraines I would highly recommend it. I can take one and if it doesn't work I can take one an hour later but no more than two in 24 hours. I very rarely need to take two. I started Zomig about 20 years ago. I have not experience any side effects. It is an excellent medication. I so glad it was produced.
