It is my 4th day of use, 25 mg once a day at night. I didn't find it that effective at all. My itching has almost increased since I stopped the drug 'SMZ-TMP' and started Atarax 25 mg, prescribed by my new dermatologist. Earlier, SMZ-TMP worked well. But my new dermatologist wanted me to stop antibiotic and start Atarax. I am not at all impressed by this drug.

I am a 60 year old woman and I've had some sort of exzema or dermatitus all my life; finally when all my hair fell out due to dermatitus, my doctor prescibed Atarax, 10 mg 3 times a day. It did the trick. That was 15 years ago and i've been taking it ever since although I now take it only twice a day. I also suffer from anxiety and it helps immensely with that also. I have periodic mass break outs of itchy rash on extremities and this works. I got home from the office, took my first 10mg dose and the itching stopped. Only been a couple of days thus far, but have had relief since day 1.
