First, this medication is used to treat my daughter for Hyperinsulinism/Hyperammonianemia or HIHA GDH. This oral medication taste horrible to say the least and stays with you for about 45 minutes. This is the only medication that keeps her blood sugar levels in the correct range. There are many side affects, hair growth on arms, legs, forehead and back. Because of the after taste, her appetite ...

This drug just about killed my mother....be very careful of any adverse side effects. My mother was on it for a week and a half to regulate her blood sugars, but caused severe edema, irregular heartbeat, decreased oxygen levels, and is now in ICU on oxygen! Again, be very careful with this drug!

Still available by prescription in Ontario, Canada. I just started taking (one week) and exceeds prednisone(4.5 tablets, 3x a day, 5mg each) Diazoxide 3x twice a day 100mg each time. So far holding my sugars up where prednisone would sink fast after 7hrs. Food choices important to balance sugar intake. Taking for insulinoma.

This medication was the last resort for me as nothing else has worked to prevent my blood sugar from plummeting. Now I find out that this drug has had its DIN revoked in Canada and no longer allowed to be sold.

I was 18yrs old when taking this med. It tasted like if you chewed up an aspirin. It didn't work for me at all. I felt nauseated every time I took it. It eventually lead to vomiting and hives, that's when it was said I was allergic to this medication.

At 6 months my daughter was diagnosed with Hyperinsulinemia and Diazoxide has worked wonderfully to keep the sugar levels at a normal level. The original has such a horrible taste I was unable to get it in her however the Chocolate Mint flavored one has worked wonders. I no longer have t fight her to take it. The medication has caused abnormal hair growth on her arms, legs, back and forehead but other that that she is a happy and healthy toddler.

I use this medication to treat my daughter with PHHI/Hyperinsulinism. Without it she would not be with us. THis medication saved her life. It does have a terrible taste but after long usage she has gotten use to it ad does not even taste anymore. The only down side to this meeication is that it is sensitive to light and there is only one manufacture. You have to stay on top of your pharmacies to guarantee it be in stock.

This is the only medication that keeps her blood sugar levels in the correct range. There are many side affects, hair growth on arms, legs, forehead and back. Because of the after taste, her appetite is greatly diminished. She has been on this medication longer than she has been alive, otherwise she is a healthy happy toddler. With using Diazoxide we also need to check her blood sugar levels 6 to 8 times a day.Read More Read Less
