Suicidal thinking was gone after about 10 days on 20mg. I find that 20mg is the dose-not the 10mg; @ least for me. The cognitive therapy (CBT) helps-teaches me what to listen to inside my head, and what is part of the depressive thinking and to disregard. Just popping these pills is the start. CBT, exercise, sun light and no depressants (i.e. alcohol, marijuana, opiates and benzodiazepines) all ar ... Show Full Comment

I was at my heaviest when I was on Lexapro. I was not diagnosed with bipolor at the time. I now understand that I need to be on a good mood stabilizer to benefit from a SSRI. I had, however, switched to taking solely Zoloft about a year later. I did not experience the massive weight gain like I did with Lexapro. It took me months to lose all that weight.
