I want to start off by saying this drug is a miracle. I was in a rehab center for two weeks to detox off OxyContin. They gave me this drug expecting me to be off it in two weeks. I relapsed 3 days after i was off this medicine because although the physical withdrawals were not present, the psychological cravings were. Also if you are psychologically dependent on this drug your body will stop produ...

Note that most of the reviews are people still ON this very powerful opiate. Very few get off of it, and those that do usually go through 6-24 months of PAWS. It should be a last resort for the hardest core junkies. It's essentailly methadone. Do your homework before you take this garbage...do yourself a favor and go cold turkey or in patient detox...seriously!!

I was on several very strong pain prescriptions for 13 years. My pain finally started to let up and it was my goal to stop taking the pain meds so my doc prescribed me Suboxone after I spent over a year tapering down from my original prescriptions to a more manageable dosage. Within the first day of taking the film, I had no withdrawal symptoms which is something I had not experienced in several years. The meds has a pain reliever but at a very low dose. I am now trying to taper off so that my only pain meds are Advil, Tylenol, etc. I would highly recommend. The only drawback is putting the film under the tongue which is a minor inconvenience. I personally think this medication is great. I was addicted to Oxycontin, cocaine, booze, and kratom from age 17 - 41. No matter what I did, I'd always relapse or switch addictions to other drugs. Since starting the medication 6 months ago my life has improved greatly. I hope to stay on it for the foreseeable future. There is so much hate against suboxone, but I think it's a wonderful drug for addicts needing help to stay sober.

Was a heavy addict of all opiods for years. Was given a dose in treatment similar to a boat load of painkillers and it flattened me harder than any high ive experienced previously. Unfortunately this feeling I initially had led to a full on suboxone addiction, no better than where i was before. I’ve successfully cut out the painkillers, and now im hooked on a partial one. It also has decimated my teeth since i started taking it. I had perfect teeth previously and since taking this my last dentist visit was correlated with 18 cavities, pretty much my whole mouth in all areas. Beware of this issue, please take proper precautions with your teeth and also know that this is also a highly addictive medicine. It does take opioid cravings from you and it does so by being one itself. I find very little aid in this. If i could go back i wouldve gone cold turkey, Id be in a better place and mindspace without this med that I have such a hard time kicking.Read More Read Less

I am a retired professional dancer who is extremely fit and work out regularly with weightlifting. I of course. started to get arthritis. I did not want to disrupt my lifestyle and cannot take opiates due to an addiction issue 30 years ago. My Psychiatrist recommended Suboxe. It has changed my life I have little or no chronic pain, and the Suboxone is my insurance policy against opiates. Thank you for this wonderful pain reliever for x addicts!

Im writing this to help other addicts who would like to be completely informed. I've been on subs for nearly 7 years. This is the second time I've been on subs for an extended period of time. Definitely helps with withdrawal symptoms, and for a period of time it actually helped with my mental disorders, bipolar, anxiety and PTSD. Gave me a sense of relief, made things ok. Now, im dealing with another form of dependence. For the past few years I've dealt with what's called suicidal idolization...a constant thought that suicide might be my only option left, and those feelings, or thoughts only happen when the meds start to wear off. It's caused me to be completely scared to completely taper off. Three suicide attempts in the past 4 years, all during withdrawal symptoms from the medication. Educate yourself about the disease of addiction. Your problem centers in your mind. The drugs are just a symptom of my real problem. My problem is the way I think. The things I run from. Before I get side tracked, subs are amazing for SHORT TERM USE. Long term use has caused withdrawal symptoms far more severe then the heroin I was trying to get off. Read More Read Less

Heroin/opiate user for years. It really screwed with chemical levels in the brain. Suboxone has straightened it all back. The only issue is the subs are so tough to get through withdrawal. After 40 days I was still feeling symptoms and depression. Suboxone has saved my life in many ways. It’s amazing.

I have been on Suboxone from two years after a very dangerous relapse in 2020. This drug has saved my life from overdose. I do not crave any opioids at all. I also take Wellbutrin now after switching from Lexapro. I do get depression symptoms and I’m constantly feeling bad that I’m taking it still but truth is, it works and I have come a very long way from my drug using days. I do recommend even while taking this that you work a program like a twelve step or find a fellowship of people to stay connected with. I am on 1 to 1.5 mg a day. I take the antidepressant in the morning and the sub around 4 everyday. I hope this helps. Good luck to you all! Read More Read Less

Obviously from what i am reading in the comments that doctors are lying to their patients about this drug. I have beennon suboxone for 7 years and have never tried to get off due to the fear of going back to drugs and didn’t see the point. After reading reviews about the withdrawal of this drug it really scares me because i have had multiple doctors tell me the withdraw is mild and it doesn’t cause weight gain which i know is bullcrap! These doctors should be held accountable if they are lying to patients!!!Read More Read Less

Any doctor that tells you that suboxone doesn’t cause weight gain they are flat out lying to you!! Since suboxoxe causes chronic constapation then it is obvious it is going to cause weight gain unless you are using a good laxative daily!!

I have been on suboxone for going on 2 years. I take my strips faithfully every day, most recently my urine test levels have been so low to almost nothing. I am on an array of different psych meds as well, Seroquel included. I was put on Seroquel about 7-9 months ago right around the time my levels started to be nonexistent. My doctor is more worried about her clinic than she is about why my levels have gone so far down while still taking the medication every day. Has anyone else ran into a similar problem????? i am doing all the research that I can to show to my doctor. Maybe she will see that I am not the only one who has had this problem. I'm also on Cymbalta, Protonix, Wellbutrin, Seroquel, Lamictal, and vitamin B and 2-8mg suboxone strips.Read More Read Less

Suboxone screwed me up harder than the heroin I was addicted to. I never hear other people have the same experience as mine. I must have been too light of a user because I never injected, just smoked heroin. I was given four 1mg doses for the first day. I was even debating with the doctor, thinking it was too little. By the time I took my second dose (of 1mg), it screwed me up so hard. I had weird dreams, and I was so screwed up the next day, that I couldn't even drive back to the doctor's office. I ended up having to quit cold turkey and it was hell, but looking back I'm pretty glad it didn't work for me, because I wouldn't want to have to withdraw from another opiate.Read More Read Less

I take for CHRONIC PAIN in my spine. I did well on Dilaudid for years. I moved and pain clinic has tapered me off and now on Suboxone w/ narcan. I did not have problems with addiction to Dilaudid. I always had some when script ended and needed to be refilled. It worked great as MY pain killer for years. I get more pain relief from Aspirin and Ibuprofen than from SUBOXONE. SUBOXONE has constipated me so badly that I had to go to the hospital to poop! Damned doctor keeps trying to tell me this is working. I now LIVE IN BED because I am in such pain. I must get relief somehow! why can't I have what worked. They gave it to me when I moved to Colorado and now I can't take ibuprofen cause it's damaging my kidneys. I will become suicidal if this keeps up! don't let them take you off of what is working... vary it a bit to make it work if you build a tolerance, That was never my problem!!! God Damn Doctors To HELL who won't listen to their patient! Clinic only wants to make a profit! Bottom line is money...NOT pain relief. It helps addicts. I am NOT one! I had neurosurgeons and spine specialists (the best in USA) tell me I can not be fixed! I am broken and 68 years old. I was injured when I was 22! My pain meds worked! Help me not hurt all the time! I became addicted to oxycodone/percocet after I had to have my jaw rewired. I suffered extreme pain at the time and found oxycodone and the percocets helped a lot with the pain. After 4 weeks I was taken off and went into severe withdrawal. I couldn't get out of bed for a week and was nauseous all day and night. For the 12 years after my surgery I went from every opioid to opiate to avoid the withdrawal. During the 12 year struggle I went on methadone treatment twice (up to 110 mg) and found that although it helped 100% with withdrawal it made me too tired, lethargic and it didn't take away cravings for other opioids/opiates but made me crave more. So I ended up on methadone and back on oxycodone which put me worse off than before. I heard about suboxone and tried it in 2016, when I was at the end of my rope and narcotic addiction/black cloud was getting totally out of control. From day one I felt relief from the sickness but just that... no more no less. As time went on I found unlike other opioids, buprenorphine didn't leave me feeling doped up just not sick. I felt like I did before using any opioid... actually I felt better. Suboxone unlike any medication helped me with depression as well and over time the desire to use diminished. Now I like to be sharp and vigilant instead of before I used to sedate myself daily. 6 years on suboxone and I have gained my family back and we are closer than ever, I have 100% more time to look after myself, cleaning my house and taking care of my dog. Since starting suboxone I am up 6 a.m. every morning and I don't need or want to be sedated as the days go by anymore. I am more active and involved in the community as well. Suboxone helps my anxiety/depression (been on ssris, snris, tcas, mirtazapine, bupropion) unlike any medication or substance I have ever taken. It keeps me sober and is slowly helping me not want to be sedated anymore. It has changed the way I look at narcotic addiction, helped me realize life is better sober minded and also allowed me the freedom and time to do things I had stopped doing years ago because of this addiction. Buprenorphine has been nothing short of a miracle for me and IMO opiate users especially if anxiety and depression are con-current. Read More Read Less

I was using at least 3 grams of heroin/mostly fentanyl for 2 years straight and oxycodone for 20 years almost straight before that. The withdrawals from this were extremely intense. I had been told withdrawals would only last for a few days but after 10 days I was still extremely sick. For me personally the physical withdrawals lasted about 12 days bearing in mind that I was both extremely mentally and physically addicted. These withdrawals were the most intense sickness I have ever experienced. They included severe vomiting about 10 times a day, severe muscle aches and pain, runny nose, watery eyes, very emotionally unstable, inability to hold down even a sip of water, aggitated and restless legs, spasms, and a terrible feeling of absolute helplessness. I felt I needed help for the first time in life so I got suboxone and was prescribed 2 - 8 mg tabs per day(you can get more but I didn't need it). Within a half hour of taking subs for the first time my withdrawls were already going away. It was a tremendous amount of relief that I truly needed. Without it I never ever could have remained sober or made it any further away from the black hole I had dug myself. I was truly suffering. I will admit that for the first week of use I did get high but only for a short period of time(less than 15 minutes). After the first week or so of use I no longer got high from the suboxone at all. It instead just made me feel perfectly normal and sober without the feeling of extreme cravings and urges(the monkey on your back). I personally think this first week of being slightly and temporarily high is a helpful and good thing for an addict at first. I believe it is needed and necessary. Only someone that has suffered from legitimate and extreme opiate withdrawal would probably understand why. There was still some occasional cravings which may have been prevented by a higher dose but I don't know. Generally though I was able to cope in a way that I previously could not. However within a month of using suboxone 2 of my teeth began to fall apart. I have always had good oral hygiene and brushed my teeth daily. I realize that this could have been caused by my years of opiate use but never had an issue before suboxone and am 100% convinced it destroys your teeth even after very short term use. I now brush my teeth about 30 minutes after I take each dose to attempt to prevent this although I doubt it works. If you choose to take suboxone you should know that it seems to destroy your teeth in the same way methadone does. To be completely honest I do intend to use drugs again but it has nothing to do with the fact that I have a craving but rather a conscious choice. My personal goal was never to stop getting high forever but to take a break from getting high and break the severe habit I had created for myself. I had gotten high to the point where I no longer was in control, the drugs were calling the shots and I didn't like it. Also it very well could have been life or death for me at this point. The reason I share this story is because I want like minded people to know that there is something out there that can actually help you to reach your goal whether it is to take a break from opiates or stop them forever. I read some of these reviews and its pretty obvious that alot of these people had very small habits compared to others. I just want to say I did not have a small habit at all. So if your thinking "suboxone won't work for me because I have too severe of an issue" you are wrong. It will help you. It will stop the suffering and you will probably get high on it at first. It is the stepping stone you need. Take the time to find a good drug program and things will go smoothly. Look for a program that focuses on "harm reduction". What this means to us addicts is they aren't going to give you a hard time about getting on suboxone. They will ask you the questions they are required to ask you by law and literally give you a script the same day. At least thRead More Read Less

Why would I stop suboxone? Suboxone combats anxiety, depression, pain, etc in fact Suboxone does everything short of opening the garage door! Multiple injuries, left hip replacement, left dropped foot, etc. Health issues over the years that include Osteomyelitis in my affected left foot, etc The psychiatrist explained "You are a high risk of relapse you are on Suboxone forever" Upbeat, high energy, I swim early each morning at 6am, feeling GOOD due to suboxone. Five years ago 2 hip revision surgeries within 4 months and just 2 sublingual strips of Suboxone got me through NO percocet, NO vicodin. The Suboxone "overrides" the pain yes I feel that hip revision surgeries pain BUT get up go to work with a smile each day. My assets include Suboxone. The drug Suboxone has changed my life. I am the most fortunate guy to have a persciption for Suboxone indefinitely forever. Modern medicine at its best Suboxone. Read More Read Less

I AM A RECOVERED ADDICT AFTER battling A 18 year habit from doctors and dentist over prescribing pain meds for dumb stuff headaches etc. Well once they pushed painkillers on all Americans that had any pain boom script for at least 30-45 Vicodin perks etc. Now they completely after being the ones responsible for drug pushing to make money run ran and I HAD TO BE TREATED LIKE TRASH STIGMATIZED PREJUDGED BCUZ I BECAME AN ADDICT THA KS TO THEM THEY RAN SCOTT FREE I LOST EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE MY WHOLE WORLD CARS CLOTHES HOUSES WIFE KIDS FRIENDS FAMILY BUT THE DOCS STILL GOT PORSCHES LAMBOS AND WONT WRITE U A SCRIPT NOW TO HELP WHEN I DISLOCATED MY KNUCKLE AND FRACTURED MY HAND WOW BUT THEY GAVE OUT LIKE CANDY I ADMITTWD I TOOK THE MEDS I AM THE ADDICT AN OWN IT WHY DONT THEY WONT THEY EPIDEMIC IS BCUZ DOCS PUSHED THEM ON US ADDICTS NOW SINCE THEY WONT WRITE A SCRIPT FOR LEVIT REASONS SADLY EVERYONE IS TURNING TO STREET DRUGS WHERE NARCOTICS ARE MADE BY HOME CHEMIST OR PEOPLE HAVING NO BUSINESS DOJ G IT AND CUTTING THE DRUGS WITH HIGLY ADDICTIVE AND DEADLY OTHER UNMEASURED NARCOTICS TO MAKE MORE POTWNT DEALERS ON STREET DO T CARE REPEAT CUSTOMER ANYMORE SADLY AS A RECOVERED ADDICT WE WOULD HEAR SO IN SO DIED AFTER TRYING SO IN SO STUFF AND WE RAN TO GET IT AND TRY IT HOW MESSED UP AND SICKLY IS THAT AS MOST ADDICTS ARE IVE WALKED MANY OF MILES IN ADDICTION SHOES. I luckily was saved by a dealer I was buying pills from she gave me a methadone pill not methadose u get in clinics big difference most do t know there’s 2 types the company that makes methadone is owned or co reacted only with United States government and makes for them they make brand methadone which is a true paink killer potent narcotic comes in like wafers or pills shaped for pain like cancer patients then the liquid methadone in methadone clinics an suboxone slash methadone clinics it’s called methadose it is not as potent an has a blocker so u can not get high off any opiate or you will kill yourself trying I know I tried. So there’s a full on narcotic painkiller which is pill I was given by dealer she said u r gonna kill itself I am worried about you yes I want your money but your doing to much I took 1 5mg or 10mg methadone pill and was buzzed high and for 3 days did not pop another pill or anything it kept me off everything heroin etc. Off one pill lasted 3 days so I studied it wanted to quit the lifestyle of drug abuse worry about being able to function then to get high so found methadone clinic and was on 125mg of it for years and it’s called liquid handcuffs bcuz it was very hard getting off it’s made for users with high tolerance heavy opiate users it zombiefied me I lived in a cloud truly believe it was getting me high daily but I made the move to quit and go to suboxone which is made for light users of opiates not heavy users been clean 5-6 yrs now been on suboxone first pill form and had to take so many was on 20-24 mg could go up to 30 well another reason I switched to suboxone was I was dignified and treated as a normal human bcuz docs will write scripts for u and it’s called “OBOT” stands for OFFICE BASED OPIOD TREATMENT IM IN VA AN I GET SCRIPT DOR 2 weeks at a time no more early 4am 5am getting up waiting in lines. Also in VA I got state Medicaid insurance covered my methadone while I was on it still in clinic an group sessions and covers my now 16mg suboxone script I started out one week had to attend intensive outpatient treatment groups show ur serious an willing to put in work to stay clean u gotta want it I’m on last year of college I’ll graduate with my bachelors degree in criminal justice!! If I can do it anyone can I was o W of every user out there we all came or come from trauma or past traumatic stuff an use or docs over prescribe an depends an addicted that way but suboxone is not intended for heavy users coming off an getting clean use methadone from experience an all classes and studying I’ve done on the methadone n suboxone totally diff Read More Read Less

I have been in and out of sub clinics the past few years and it's not bad. I'm prescribed 16mg a day to help keep cravings and sickness at bay. I have had a therapist the past few years and that's helped but I was also in a methadone clinic for 4 years about a decade ago and I can tell this, both will help you stay off opiates but after a while sub it's just like taking tylenol. I'm not after a high but methadone always gave me drive and energy even years after the euphoria left some days I find it hard to get out of bed. Subutex works much but you can't get that unless your pregnant or allergic to some of the ingredients on sub. I'm a heavy opioid user. I know ppl have taken much more than me but a bottle of 120 oxycodone 30mgs would last me about 3 -4 days top. Maybe it's bc methadoan is a full antagonist where in sub is half.Thats not saying I'm all about trying to get high, but sub just doesnt do it for me. I know its about getting well but I have had most success with methadoan prbly is its value $500 for methadone vs sub( insurance) although its roughly $600-800. That's makes think the gold standard is whatever makes the most money. This medicine has saved ppls lives for the better and I'm glad and happy for them but for me methadoan isnthe way to go. They have abuse potential although sub has a ceiling but if I had a choice, which I believe we should(have insurance pay for sub ot methadone) but will prbly never happen. The only reason I'm on sub now is that I don't have enough money to pay an extra $500 a month but I'm working on that. Both if these drugs have saved millions if lives but there is always a danger of overdosing to try and get high. I'm older now and I wish to God that insurance will eventually cover methadone as well.maybe one day or prbly in Colorado lol. Nah but seriously they are progressive using marijuana edibles to treat anxiety instead of benzos. The next thing will be mushroom in micro doses possibly up to a gram.it helps with depression and if used right could also change your life. If you are ready to quit using then I strongly suggest methadone but if you dont have the money and decent insurance you will easily be able to find a sub clinic as they poppin up everywhere. Like I said sub is better than using any other opioids but for me I need something more not euphoric but something that can get me motivated to get up and getting stuff down. I very rarely did other drugs on methadone weed ,which really doesnt count anymore as one imo like maybe 5times the whole 5 yearsni was there with, sub I often find myself whatever you decide to do research it first also sub is supposed the 3rd strongest opiate with methadone being 7 I believe and the withdrawal symptoms are there you just gotta know that is has like a 40hr halflife so fir anywaby day 5 i stat feeling sicl af 5 and it doesn't really improve until the 9thbor 10th daybor so but everyone is different. Also methadone were some of the worst withdrawals I have had (I quit cold turkey at 110mgs for 4 years). I know its hypocritical of me to stay on sub when I want methadone but it s better then hunting for pills all dau and pretty eliminates cravings and the dope sickness. Also good idea to get into therapy when you start as you can work on you and your coping mechanisms Good luck to you all prayers and God Bless!!! Also sorry for the misspelled words and running sentences lol.Read More Read Less
