I have been on Desogen for 15 years. I've never had any side effects and never had any pregnancy scares. So, it works.

I was having problems with irregular periods, so my dr prescribed me Solia. Being my 1st birth control, I was already hesistant in taking it but my dr specifically recommended it for me, and what did I have to lose! It did regulate my periods, but I also suffered from side effects. I was constantly bloated, to the point where my skin (hands, face, all over) looked puffy. I experienced an increase...

I've taken a few types of birth controls in the past, but have been on this one for the past 3months since I had a really bad reaction to the NUVARING! But so far so good, the hardest thing for me is remembering to take the pill. It's tiny, easy to swallow, and I haven't had any side affects so far. I've been on pills that have made me nauseous and this doesn't do this to me, I have finally found a bearable source of birth control

While this was effective (didn't get pregnant), I gained 10 pounds quickly when I started taking it and I felt really tired most of the time. It did get rid of my hormonal acne around the chin though...

Alright, so tomorrow will be the start of my third month on these pills. First, I'd like to say that has been completely effective for me. It does the job of preventing pregnancy, but with all of the side effects, I'm not sure it's worth it. My mood has changed drastically, I am angry 70% of the time, the other 30% I'm either sad or happy. I will find myself crying for no reason at night over silly things, when before I started these pills I hadn't cried in months. My boyfriend and I constantly fight because I get mad at him so easily. I have gained weight and I'm getting depressed. I really would not recommend this to anyone. Read More Read Less

I first noticed the headaches, then my period lasted 3 weeks and still hasn't gone away. My breasts are sensitive. I get tired so easily, all I Want to do it sleep. I'll get really horny but then really turned off at random times.

I started taking this drug about 5 months ago straight for two months. In that two months everything was fine, except I was suicidal the whole time. I have to stop taking it for a month. Now I am about on it for a month and it is awful. I have gained 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I have a manual labor job and I only eat once a day. I am nauseous in the morning, sad or angry most times of the day, and sluggish.

On this medication I feel unstable, and drained. I'm crying at the drop of a hat for no reason at all. I have hip pains, and breast tenderness. I am having more problems now than the original issues I WAS having.

I feel crazy on this pill. My emotions are uncontrollable and I've been so moody. It has been affecting my relationship with my boyfriend. I have no energy and my sex drive has lowered.

I started noticing I was so tired at work..Usually I always exploding with energy! Coffee no longer helped so I went to monsters on week two which still didnt help much. I begain noticing all this stuff wrong with me, I felt very poor in health and was starting to wonder if I had cancer cells (so tired), gal bladder infection (bec. of gas), arthritus?.. already at age 26! All of a sudden I was feeling like a week old lady. I researched the symptoms of desogen yesterday and relized it was the pill. Week one I had no energy..very sleepy and felt I had shallow short breathing at times . Week two of Monday: lower abdomial cramping and chronic foul gas. Tue. Chronic foul gas and sensitive breasts. Sleepy Wed: VERY soar legs that were also more prone to falling asleep and Chronic gas. Thur: Very soar L foot that falls asleep and chronic gas. This morning: Chronic gas soar L foot and theigh. Since day one I have been sleepy and normally Im a ball of energy on top of the world that always feels great and healthy. I laid in bed all week when I wasnt at work... half asleep with stomach pains, shortnes of breath, soarness in extremeties and BAD BAD gas. My mood has been normal besides my lack of spunk. Im going to have to change. Never had a problem like this before with birth control. I can usually take anykind with no prob. Read More Read Less

This pill is horrible! Started off on this in April, it's now July. First two months were ok, no noticeable side effects. But now, I have been so moody for the past two months. I feel like I have no control over my emotions and will get irrationally angry about everything and anything. It got so bad my boyfriend and I have decided to take a break until the end of the current pill pack I'm on and can be normal again. But the final straw was the depression. I've never gotten depressed before in my life, not even when my sister passed away at the beginning of the year. But on Desogen I became so depressed I actually was going to drive my car off a bridge, for no reason. Everyone reacts differently to medications but judging from other comments regarding Desogen, I would recommend staying away from this birth control pill.Read More Read Less

from the moment I started taking Desogen, I have been even more tired than before, my emotions are off the charts, one minute I am so happy, and then all of the sudden I am screaming at the top of my lungs. I cannot sleep through the night since I started this pill. The heartburn and acid reflux have caused me to have to start taking Zantac or I will never eat again. I gained 10 pounds in the 1st month, and my breasts are getting bigger (not that 36dd wasnt big enough) and they are SOO tender all the time. I have spotted throughout the entire month, and from day 1 of the green pills, I was back to bleeding horribly. I have 2 more weeks to take before I have my procedure, and I am done with it. I would never go back on this pill, ever. Read More Read Less

There was no risk of pregnancy on this, but it killed any sexual desire, broke out quite a bit, was fairly depressed.

I've got Endometriosis and High Blood Pressure. I'm a student so due to no insurance I went to my local health department and was given this to try. I only took TWO pills but I noticed an immediate change in my body. After a few hours of taking this med I was extremely tired. I had absolutely no energy. I also found myself extremely irritated with the sound of my brothers voice?? What's up with that..right? At one point I even asked him to shut up. That only led to an argument...which I'm sure I won. By day two my blood pressure (which by the way was doing so well due to my new exercise regiment that I no longer needed to take my pills) spiked to 143/99 and my pulse dropped to 55 beats per minute. Needless to say I quickly popped two blood pressure pills. I also noticed extreme bloating and edema in my legs. This is a terrible drug! I've decided to stop taking these pills IMMEDIATELY and call my doctor in the morning. My advice to you....be very aware of your body and know when to stop if it's just not working for you. Good luck my dear.Read More Read Less

It started out in the first week with horrible nausea, then for next 3 weeks I was easily irritable, had no patience for my 2 yr old and snappy at everyone. Normally, I am pretty easy going with little mood changes. By the 2nd week into it, I had uncomfortable digestion problems...diarhea on several occasions, eventually had no regular bowl movements. I am now on the one week off and feel much better. This wknd I will be trying something with less hormones and see if that helps.

I thought that this birth control pill was very effective. I never had pregnancy scares and I felt confident that I would not get pregnant. My cramps went away and my periods were short and light. However, after the first couple of months of no side effects I started to notice differences in the drug. I became extremely bloated! I gained a couple of pounds and no matter how little I ate and how much I excersized I could not lose the weight. After EVERY meal I would rush to the bathroom with severe diarrhea. I was very moody and grumpy all the time. My breasts were so tender it hurt to touch them and I had no sex drive what so ever. Overall I was not satisfied but everyone is different! I recently switched to Loestrin so I hope that this works better for me...Read More Read Less

I took this medication for about 13 months for heavy menstrual bleeding and it worked well as far as that goes, my periods were lighter and less painful but I began having leg pain and cramp and swelling, the next thing you know I am in the hospital with blood clots in my entire left leg. I had to get off the pill and all estrogen products. I found out the hard way about blood clots and bcp after having surgery to remove half the clot and taking shots in my belly I would not recommend no bcp for anyone. What I went through has been very painful and sad. Read More Read Less

Have taken Desogen on/off for 15 years. Have taken since June 2010 then developed non-stop bleeding for six weeks. This is the only time I have ever had problems with the drug. No longer taking per Dr's instructions.
