Started this pill after being off the pill altogether for a few years (was on Ovcon prior to that). Ovcon had since been discontinued, so Dr. put me on this because I stressed that I did not want to gain weight. Over the course of the year, I gained close to 15 lbs (a large amount for someone who is 5'5") and developed cellulite all over my thighs which I have never had before. My diet and exer...

I've taken birth control for the past 9 years, and I've been on this medication for about a year and have noticed many side effects but never bothered to figure out what was causing it until recently. I have gained roughly 15 pounds, even going to the gym everyday didn't make a difference, no change in diet or anything. Its given me horrible acne, and on top of everything else my very thick hair s...

I switched to this pill two months ago because the first pill I was on caused terrible prolonged bleeding. I have experienced no noticeable side effects on this pill- not even spotting, and it appears to be effective, so I can make no complaint.

I'll be getting married soon and we didn't want to have kids right away so I considered birth control. This is my first birth control and I started a month before our wedding to see how I would react. So far, I'm liking this brith control a lot. I don't experience any major side effects, like weight gain or headaches. At first, I did experience a heavy, pressure feeling in my lower abdomen, but that went away. I was a bit more moody prior to having my period. And when I got it, I was so happy that I had NO cramps. Before BC, my cramps and lower back were excruciating. I still had some lower back pain with BC, but minor. Also, my bleeding is less. Compared to before BC, my flows were always heavy and I always had to worry about possibly leaking. However, I do notice my blood being more clumpy, not sure if that is normal. And I do feel more bloated than usual during my period. And I hate to admit, but I think I am breaking out in acne because of this BC. Other than that, this is my first month so far being on this birth control and I have no complaints. I hope it will stay like this. Read More Read Less

This is the first birth control I have ever taken and I've been on it for 9 months now and I like it a lot. The first couple of months my periods were inconsistent but after that they were consistent and very light. I would get cramps the first day of my period and I would get bloated the day before I started but I would get bad cramps and bloat before I started taking birth control and the birth control definitely helps with that. I also get nauseous the first day of my period. I gained maybe 5 lbs while being on it. My boobs did get fuller. I occasionally get breast tenderness (mostly just my nipples) but it's nothing I can't handle. I missed a couple of days of taking the pills and my period never started. Overall I am pleased with my experience with Microgestin. Read More Read Less

I've taken birth control for the past 9 years, and I've been on this medication for about a year and have noticed many side effects but never bothered to figure out what was causing it until recently. I have gained roughly 15 pounds, even going to the gym everyday didn't make a difference, no change in diet or anything. Its given me horrible acne, and on top of everything else my very thick hair started thinning. I've also been horribly irritable, depressed, unmotivated, and tired. I blamed all these things on other things going on in my life but now I realize its this pill. Also if you miss even one day, you get your period for a week.It did its job, I didnt get pregnant but it scewed everything else up. I'm changing asap.Read More Read Less

I moved to a new city and I needed low cost birth control. I was prescribed this because it was supposed to be similar to my previous Rx (Loestrin 24 Fe). It wasn't even close. I have been taking it for a year - giving my body plenty of time to adjust to it. It effectively kept me from getting pregnant, but I gained over 20lbs (without any major changes to my diet/exercise routine), had zero libido, had irregular periods (bleeding all month long or skipping 2 months at a time) and had bad cramping off and on. I'm switching immediately to a different pill.Read More Read Less

This was my first birth control I've ever taken. Yes all birth controls make you feel a little nausea at first but that's normal. I really liked this product. I got off for a while and the doctor put me on 1/20 hated it. My boobs hurt like crazy, I wanted to cry all.the.time. Just wasn't for me. Glad to be back on the 1.5/30. First week so far so I'll keep on the update :) but from what I took before I really liked it.

DO NOT USE THIS PILL. First month i puked every night, then every time i had to start a new pack I'd get nauseous and faint. I had migraines with aura and a lot of break through bleeding even though I was on it for a year.. Now I've been off the pill for months and am unable to get my period because my hormones are so messed up.

Over the course of the year, I gained close to 15 lbs (a large amount for someone who is 5'5") and developed cellulite all over my thighs which I have never had before. My diet and exercise stayed exactly the same, so I have to think it was because of this pill. I also started having generalized anxiety and chest pressure, and a panic attack, which I have also never experienced. I just started Femcon, which is the same make up at Ovcon, and I'm hoping my body will respond much better, as it used to with the Ovcon. Microgestin, was no good for me. Read More Read Less

After having a very bad experience with Reclipsen, I began taking Microgestin. My experience has been MUCH better on this pill. It works wonders for my severe period cramping (almost none now). Also, has regulated them well. My only complaints are slight nausea sometimes and a dip in sex drive. Overall, this birth control get an A from me and I plan to be on it for a long time.

This birth control made me a completely different person- angry, anxious, stressed, depressed. It also made me completely lose my sex drive to the point that I was ok with the thought of never having sex again for the rest of my life. It was the biggest mistake of my life to go on this.

I switched from yaz to this pill because yaz stopped my periods completely. Been on this pill 7 months and already my period is shorter each month and is now down to two days. My obgyn put me on it guaranteeing my period would be normal. At this point I think I need to switch to something else. My start days are irradic which is what yaz did before it completely cut my period off.

This medicine has done what it is suppose to do in that i am not pregnant, but my periods have been so messed up. Some months i would bleed the whole week and other months i dont bleed a drop. Also i have found that the iron pills at the end of the pack would mess with my period if i missed a iron pill the flow would stop. it works but is very hard to predict.

I have been on the pill for about 9 months now. I started taking it a week after I delivered my baby. The problem is I have been on my period practically every week on this pill. I have no side effects of it, just a constant period that typically last about 3 to 4 days and is light. I do believ it is a little abnormal. To regulate myself, I stopped taking it for a full 30 days and just starting taking it again as of december 1, i am expecting my period soon. Since I havent had any slip ups I would assume I am still not pregnant, I gues we will see if this really works or not. Also if you are taking this pill, do not miss a day because you WILL come on your period for at least two days!!!!! Other than that, it has done what I needed it to do and thats keep me from not getting pregnant. I'm satisfied with that at least!Read More Read Less

I am very confused about this medication.. In the information it says it is a medication that is used to reduce menopause symptoms. I am 22 and not in menopause but perscribed this medication as a birth control.. Is this medication also used as a birth control? If not can this medication mess with my body badly if taken and I'm not in menopause?

For the first year you will get your persiod normally, after that year if you still take your pill at the same time everyday, I found that both me and a few other people missed more periods in one year than average person would on birth control, you would average about 8 periods a year! this is not healthy for your body!!!! I am a nurse and I immediately found that I had too get off this medication becuase I was clotting on the inside very badly..... would not recommend!
