I am a 50yo female who has had acne since I was 12. The meds available when I was a teen were not very effective, so I gave up and lived with it. A recent visit to a dermatologist diagnosed rosacea, and he gave me an Rx for Oracea and metrogel, filled as the generic metronidazole. I noticed a difference within 10 days, virtually no breakouts and much less redness. Within 3 weeks, my husband and b...

I have inflamed skin on my nose and pimples/spots which the doctor said was rosacea. I was originally prescribed invermectin but that did not reduce the inflammation or pimples/spots. I went back to the doctor and they prescribed metronidazole and that has reduced the inflammation within 48 hours, so my skin colour is back to normal and there are no new pimples/spots. I'm really pleased with the quick results and I'll continue using as prescribed.

I had been using doxycycline for several years to control my rosacea and metronidazole gel only for severe breakouts. Which was not often, a tube lasted 2-3 years beyond the expiration date. Five months ago a new dermatologist recommended using the metronidazole gel only to reduce the daily oral antibiotic. I almost gave up but after two weeks or so the gel got things under control and I have used it exclusively since. Some days I have flare-ups and the gel struggles to manage them. The Dr. suggested we could start a two week regimen of doxy during these but I have yet to do so. The flare-ups are not so severe. I feel better emotionally if not physically not taking the oral antibiotic as a daily regimen. And the rosacea is no worse than when I was on the daily doxy.Read More Read Less

I've had acne since I was a teen and was able to stay ahead of it a bit. Yet, the last two years it has gotten more frequent and spread to other parts of my face. I thought it was stress. About 10 months ago a dermatologist told me I had acne rosacea; I didn't agree but got the metronidazole and just didn't use it. After it got worse and worse, I thought, what the heck! Well, it looks like people who've gone to med school DO know more than me. I've literally only used it for less than a week and it is like a miracle. My skin has never looked healthier. I got this medication because I have Rosacea and my face was burning, itching, and breaking out all around my face every where. I filled the prescription and used it for 2 days I took pictures of my face my entire face was red splotchy and even more pustules then before I used the medication. My entire face feels hot and I have dry patches on top of the red splotchy rash. Face still burns and itches even more than before. My face looks like a toads backside this is so depressing I am 48 yrs old and feel helpless at this moment. I have scheduled another appointment at the Dermatologists but can't get in until Wednesday. I hope what has happened clears up by then I have the pictures to show the doctor, but I can't deal with the burning and itching until then. Read More Read Less

I was horrified when my face started breaking out in bumps and pimples like it never had before. It took me a while to work out that it was something with the revolting name of papulopustular rosacea (my doctor took one look and said yep). She gave me a prescription for Rosex (quite expensive as I discovered). I got the gel (cause that’s all they had on hand at the pharmacy).I wash my face twice a day with a gentle (pleasantly lemony smelling) cleanser then apply a little of the Rosex gel. I use night light moisturiser/day moisturising sunscreen after it dries). It took about 10 days before new bumps and pimples stopped coming and my skin looked like it was responding. I think it will take a while before all the red marks disappear completely but I’m thrilled at how much better my skin is looking. It’s all much easier to cover with make up now too. No side effects so far. Not sure how long I have to keep using this but I suppose I’ll keep going for a while.Read More Read Less

I had an increase of rosacea as well as pimples on my cheeks and around my nose, plus red dots all over my face. I was prescribed the metronidazole gel, have been using it for 2 months, and everything is much better. No more red dots and pimples, and there is only a little redness on my cheeks. Also have had no side-effects and my skin is softer and smoother in general.

Being of olive complexion and 70 years old I was rather surprised to come up with what the doctor said was rosacea for the last few months. I was thinking that it was from wearing a mask but that turned out not to be the case. Then I thought it was from eating chocolate so I quit that for a while and the rosacea came back. I’ve been on this topical for almost a week now and I’ve had no adverse effects no scaling no itchiness no nothing. Even my red nose has gone away. I will keep taking it for a few weeks and then try to taper off. This medicine really was a lifesaver. My doctor recommended that I take it with doxycycline but decided that I didn’t wanna upset the balance of flora in my stomach. Glad I quit taking the antibiotics after a week.Read More Read Less

I had a strange rash on my face (around chin and cheeks) that looked like eczema. Probably caused by a mix of stress, new makeup and I think, too much smelly stuff added to the laundry and thus being on my pillow where my face touches it. — Regardless, no home remedy worked. My Derm gave me this stuff and some HydroCortizone and 2 weeks later (and trashing the new makeup) no more rash. Yay!

After 2 weeks of use, saw minimum improvement but had to stop usage due to allergic reaction â?? swelling of face, red dry skin, rash with itching and burning sensation.

Was prescribed this for very light case of red areas on cheeks. Doc noticed when burning off some precancerous spots on face. Medicine worked within a week. Don't see Doc for another 3 weeks but assume I continue to use regularly. Will find out. Very pleased with results.

I had painful red bumps on my high cheeks on my face and forhead. they would get red, and create like an hard amber crystal puss. It had been 3 years on and off. My doctor said why is your face so red? wrote me this RX. My face was clear after a week. I use sparingly, only when i see or feel a breakout, but my skin looks great, and feels smooth with no redness. I can't believe I waited 3 years to have this treated. I love my Doctor.

I have rosacea, mostly red nose and checks. I used to get occasional breakouts too. since using this, I never break out, but nose still turns red on regular basis, so there is minimal help for that.

I have been using this cream for about 9 years. Worked great in the beginning but not so much recently. When I have a breakout it takes almost 2 weeks for the bumps to go away. The redness has never been effected. I always have red cheeks. About the only thing this cream is good for, at least for me, is it keeps my skin from becoming flaky as if I were sunburned. Looking for another medication.

I have used this product as directed 2x per day for at least 10 years. The acne rosacea still exists. If there is an improvement, I have failed to see it.

I have been using this gel for 6 months and there is little, if any, discernible improvement. Some days seem better than others, but the redness always comes back.
