I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews on this birth control! I made the mistake when my doctor first put me on this BC pill to read reviews. I was so terrified to begin taking it but my doctor assured me I would be fine. (Previously I was taking Lo Loestra but my insurance no longer covered the cost). I had finally decided to take it, as I was beginning a new relationship and definitely...

I started taking Junel a month ago and now have started the first week of my second pack. The first month was okay: minor nausea, sore breasts, minor bloating. did not notice mood changes. not sure about my sex drive. I did not get my period during my placebo week. Now that I have started the second month I feel terrible! The most noticeable symptom is AWFUL BLOATING. 5 hours after I eat lunch ...

I’ve been on this birth control for over 6 months and I never got a period over that time course except for one or two days but it was rare. It helped with the ovarian cycle I had and I would recommend, only concern I had was not getting my period but overall I liked it while I was on it.

I took Junel Fe for just under 2 years and finally decided to just get off of birth control for awhile to troubleshoot some body function issues I was having. Since getting off this pill I no longer have borderline IBS related issues, vertigo, extremely low libido or spotting. It's hard to decipher if it's 100% correlated but I changed no other aspects of my daily routine before and after. My borderline IBS was debilitating to the point where I couldn't even go on long walks without having an emergency situation. I would also spot every 2 weeks. Absolutely no regrets getting off this medication.Read More Read Less

I started taking junel and noticed i gained maybe 5 pounds at most and was irritable, but after a couple weeks my body regulated it and since then it’s worked a charm, my periods aren’t as heavy, my acne is way better then it was before, and my hair stopped falling out as much from stress! The only time i have light breakthrough bleeding is when i don’t take it on time.

I have been taking Junel FE for multiple years now. My dosage has changed over the years, but overall my body has adjusted just fine. My periods were previously so intense and gave me debilitating pain to the point I couldn’t attend school and/or work. With this daily medication, my pain (I have endometriosis) has drastically reduced, my periods are more under control (my doctor even prescribed for me to skip the placebo pill), and from my experience it has been great at preventing pregnancy. Overall I have not experienced any side effects that would make me discontinue this pill. I had minor weight gain in the beginning, but also my habits changed as well. My mood and behaviors were not impacted by this pill, but my overall value of life has increased. Having my period be under control has really impacted my ability to live a happy life. I have been taking this for 3 weeks. It was prescribed for heavy bleeding during my periods. I have experienced nausea, shortness of breath, lack of energy, bloating and weight gain. I will discontinue use.

I wanted to write this due to some of the negative reviews on here. I had serious PTSD with birth control after gaining 55 pounds within a year after starting the Depo shot. I went from 110-165 and the weight would not budge which gave me horrible self esteem issues. For years I swore off birth control due to what I had experienced my first go around, but after about 5 years I could no longer tolerate how painful, long, and frequent my periods were. It seemed like every time I had anything going on in my life, my period came along with it. I also started to develop acne which further encouraged me to give birth control another try. Well, I could not be more happy with Junel Fe. My skin has completely cleared up, I no longer have painful long periods, I gained at most two pounds from this birth control, and have experienced no adverse side effects. I know birth control works differently for everyone, but as someone who thought she would never again take it, it’s been such a blessing for me! Hopefully this helps lessen anyone’s fear about starting this pill! Read More Read Less

Adding my positive review! I used to be on a different birth control that I liked, but I couldn't skip my periods on it without breakthrough bleeding. I use Junel to skip periods and it has been working flawlessly, no spotting unless I take it late. I did have some negative side effects the first week- some nausea and anxiety. Those went away. This is also an androgenic BCP, so it is helping my skin less than other pills I've tried, but it isn't causing any more acne than my normal. If your main concern is acne, I would choose a different, less androgenic pill. But overall my mood is normal, weight is normal, not pregnant, no periods. This one is good for me! Don't be afraid to try a new OCP because of bad reviews. Everyone is different. Try it yourself, you can always switch if you don't like it.Read More Read Less

I have been on Junel Fe 1/20 for 7 years. I started taking this when I was 15 for my hormonal acne. I have not used as a means for pregnancy prevention yet. I have mixed feelings with this birth control combo pill. I noticed clear skin right away after starting, but my moods have been very up and down on it and I gained 20 pounds within the first two years on the pill, and I did not change anything. I also went from a C cup to a DDD and it is a nightmare to deal with. Even if I lose a bit of weight they will not go down. I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was 20, and now I have all of these chronic conditions, Internal cystitis, hypothyroidism, high CRP levels, gut issues, literally can't lose weight at all. When I was 15 I weighed 135, and i have been 155 now for 7 years, it will not budge. Overall, I think the hormones inflame my body, and have caused more negative side effects than positive. The acne is the only reason why I have stayed on it for so long. I do not want to have that again. But, I really do think my prolonged use of this pill has caused other issues in my body. I would refrain from taking it long term. Read More Read Less

I want to say: different birth control brands effect everyone differently. I'm seeing a ton of negative reviews and I'm worried people will think that's the general experience on Junel. It's not. I've struggled with PCOS and PMDD since my teen years. It's caused acne, wild mood swings, painful/heavy/unpredictable periods, insulin resistance & more. It's been rough. I first tried Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo as a teen to treat it and had a TERRIBLE experience: 2.5 week long heavy period, large cystic acne breakout that required steroid shots, worsened mood swings. I got off of it ASAP and was afraid to try BC again for years. I'm so glad I gave Junel a go. It's cleared up my acne, made my periods extremely manageable and leveled out my moods CONSIDERABLY. It's also helped with my insulin resistance and migraines. I feel so much better on it. Does this mean Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo is the devil/Junel Fe is a godsend for everyone? No, of course not, it all depends on YOUR specific body chemistry. Don't let all the bad reviews scare you, the bad reactions are not a given.Read More Read Less

I have been on June since 2017. It was the first birth control I have ever been on, prescribed to me after entering my first relationship, and I must say, the experience was great! It important to note while reading these reviews that symptoms may vary depending on each person body type, medical history, genetics, etc. I’m naturally thin, so although I was hoping for some weight gain, I didn’t experience any, just my breast growing about a cup size larger. My periods usually last 7 days, but as I was taking Junel, my periods became shorter and lighter, and a few months in, I stopped bleeding entirely. I also suffered from acne before taking the pill, but after about 2 or 3 months in, my skin completely cleared up, and remained clear for the rest of my time on the pill. These were the only effects that I experienced, and for me they were all positive. I stopped taking Junel after 4 years, in 2021, due to the fact that me and my then boyfriend broke up, and I was not having sex. Immediately after, my acne came back, and it got even worse, my boobs got smaller, and my period returned, although it shortened to about 4-5 days, I believe this was possibly due to me switching to organic pads/tampons, and not wearing tampons as much. Fast forward to last month, I’m in a new relationship, and my partner and I had an unexpected pregnancy, the plan B didn’t work. I had to take an abortion pill, which caused me to experience major cramps and bleeding that lasted for over 2 weeks. I got back on Junel, my trusted brand, and immediately the cramping and bleeding stopped. It’s been two weeks since I’ve been back on. My boobs haven’t grown too much, although they were already bigger from the pregnancy, I haven’t gained any weight, my skin is beginning to clear up again, and I haven’t had any terrible symptoms. I just wanted to share my experience, because it has been pleasant. But I am seeing comments with contrasting results, so keep in mind that results may vary. I never suffered from intense menstrual pains, I am naturally thin, with a fast metabolism, I never had any underlining health issues prior to use, and I never suffered from migraines, or any other forms of chronic pains. This may or may not play a part in my experience, but it’s with noting. My recommendation is to just consult with a doctor and run necessary test prior to use. Good luck on your birth control journey! :)Read More Read Less

I was put on this pill to help with my painful cramping, but I wish I never started it. About 6 weeks in, I started feeling very tired, very anxious, started having heart palpitations constantly and experienced bad headaches. I didn’t know what was going on until about week 8, I thought, what has changed in my life and thought about the pills so started doing research and read these reviews. I had been to several doctors trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Reading these reviews helped me figure out it was the pills so I wanted to return the favor so in case anyone else is having issues they may decide to stop taking them. After I was off the pill for about three days, I started feeling better.Read More Read Less

I started taking this BC 10 days ago. I immediately started bleeding the day i took the first pill, but knew that was to be expected. Yesterday, i began bleeding so badly an ultra sized tampon, pad, and period underwear wouldn’t last me more than 30 minutes before blood was running down my leg. My cramps have been excruciating and my depression/anxiety is worse than my PPD/PPA. Its only been a week. I spent most of today piling on clothes because i was freezing, going in and out of consciousness, being dizzy, etc. currently in the ER and they took me back immediately-average wait for my hospital is 8 hrs- because they believe i am hemorrhaging. DO NOT TAKE THIS. Even with the good reviews its not worth the risk. Im a single mom having to miss work right before rent is due because i am literally bleeding out because i ignored the warnings.Read More Read Less

This pill is absolutely horrible. I’m only on my 2nd week of using it. & Every time I take it, it causes me to start bleeding/the heaviest period I’ve ever had in my life, huge blood clots, not even the super + tampons, & a super pad last more than 30 minutes. Every time I move at all, the entire day I have to run & change & have a damn mess… @ 1st I thought it was just a period, since I was on the Depo shots for the last 6 years & switched to these pills 1.5 weeks ago.. but it hasn’t stopped & I have noticed the correlation between taking the pill, & the heaviest of this bleeding… & unfortunately I had to take today’s to be sure that this is the problem.. I will NOT be taking these again.. & I am pissed that I was never told that this could be a side effect.. not even listed as a possible risk in the RX info. How do they get away with doing that??? please don’t take this pill, i chose to take it despite all the bad reviews i read about it, the entire time i was on it i only had 1 regular period that lasted 6 days and my periods have never been irregular before the rest of the times my period will last 2 weeks and there was a time i got my period just 9 days later after having had it before and despite all this i still kept taking the pill because the only problem was the irregular periods so i thought it’d go away, on the first day of starting my 6 month pack i got a really bad panic attack( i didn’t know it was a panic a time at the time because i’ve never experienced one, i just thought i was dying lol) my body felt completely weak afterwards and numb-like i went to the hospital 2 days later they did a bunch of tests and found nothing wrong with me and just told me to take it easy and days went by despite feeling like shit i still kept taking it because the possibility of it being caused by the pill didn’t cross my mind at the time. i’ve been struggling with non stop panic attacks, dissociation, fatigue and blurred vision for almost 3 weeks now, i stopped taking the pill 5 days ago and i still feel the same way but i’m hoping after a few weeks off the pill i’ll start to feel like myself again. i don’t wish what this pill put me through on my worst enemy. the pill does really work at pretending pregnancy, but the side effects aren’t worth it. i hope this can prevent just at least one person from going though the terrible experience i went through. stay blessed.Read More Read Less
