People reading these reviews should keep in mind that most people go on the internet to complain, and usually not to say how well something works for them. I have been using tri-sprintec for a month and really like it. My skin has cleared up and the only side effect I've experienced is breast tenderness that is starting to go away now. I had a really bad acne that was bothering me for years, also had some hair in places where it’s bot supposed to be. Turned out I have a hormonal problems because of my ovaries not working correctly. I was prescribed this medication and it worked EXCELLENT. I don’t have any of side effects besides that my boobs became a little larger hah (I had A cup and now it’s B). I’m taking this more than a 1.2 years and will continue.

Everyone is different but I just want to share my experience: I started birth control at the age of 14 for my acne when the dermatology prescriptions weren't working and Accutane was the last route. During the first 2-3 months I noticed that my acne was HORRENDOUS I'm talking like everywhere chest, back, and face was brutal. But it definitely did its job after 7 to 8 months my skin was beautiful not a single breakout or blackheads and my scarring was gone. I could wear makeup to bed and not a single pimple would form. It reduced the amount of oil production my body produced because my hair was rarely oily which was a positive. My periods were amazing no pain, barely any heavy flows occurred. My titties were full and perky I went from an A cup to a C cup! I also got curvier but that could've been from the weight gain it unfortunately caused. Now... those were just a few positives the amount of times I've emotionally broken down in a span of a year was crazy, I cried EVERY DAY for no reason. Two weeks before my period for an entire year I would get bloated, I was veryyyy sensitive, always hungry, felt so low and never wanted to go out. Keep in mind Ive never cried in front of my dad but after getting on this pill he has seen me cry so many times. I never had an issue with losing weight I was consistently doing cardio but this pill increased my appetite and I gained about 15-20 pounds which made me get off it this year on October 11th, 2023. It messed up my skin and broke out and I had to go back on it November 4-5 2023, but just to prove it makes you gain weight in the duration of getting off of it in one month I lost 10 pounds, no exercise, no diet it all just dropped. I know I know "it's water weight" I did lose my boobies but I was proud to prove that the pill changed my body. I felt like myself once I got off but I do miss my clear skin so I am going back and now that I know I'll be making changes in my activity and watching my diet.Read More Read Less

So I wrote a shining review for this pill a few months ago. I take a lot of it back. Upon stopping this pill roughly 3 months ago, I am now experiencing post-birth control syndrome. Stopping gave me intense anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, etc. I will now have to go to the doctor and get on anti-depressants while I wait for my hormones to adjust from what this pill did to me. I've tried and stopped several pills in the past, and this is the only one that has affected me like this. I felt great throughout the duration of this pill, but I got off to do FAM instead. Now I am navigating mental health issues that I've never had before. I do wish that I never touched this pill in the first place. Read More Read Less

For women around their 20's do not take this pill. Being in your 20's is a time in your life you should enjoy and treasure. You should enjoy your 20's not taking a medication that ruins your self-image and mental health. This pill will set your body up for failure and take that away from you. In fact, do yourself a favor and stay off birth control unless you need it. You can tell your partner to put the jimmy on because the pill is not worth the trouble if you cannot find the right one. I have been on two different pills this past year all with negative side effects and thought Tri-sprintec was going to be a good idea to switch to because my holy grail was Trinessa (I am so unhappy they discontinued this). No pill is the same, it's a lie, and I say this because the difference in inactive ingredients can be the culprit for negative side effects. This pill gave me an appetite that would not go away. I would eat so much, and I have gained a lot of weight because I would never feel full. I gained about 15 pounds on this pill and gave it its three-month trial. I am NOT happy. This pill also made my cortisol levels high. I was easily stressed off anything. My libido also decreased. The only pro of this was my skin was kind of clear and period flow was better but even then, it's not that great. Tri-sprintec is definitely no Ortho tri-cyclen or Trinessa. As a birth control user starting from their teenage years, I do have regrets of putting this in my body. It was not worth it... Please look into non hormonal methods or even ovulation tracking if you want to switch. I am stuck with using hormones due to PCOS and I would not take birth control if I did not have this condition. I am getting to the point I rather live with PCOS then take these devil-like pills. However, I have hope and will give one more brand a chance. P.S. Everyone is different, and some people can't afford other brands but please look at the number of negative reviews compared to positive. It is always ok to give something a try but if you are like me (not a first-time user, with PCOS, and searching for the right one). I would not try this pill. Do not listen to women who say stick with it and see if your body adjusts. When it comes to things like weight gain or mental health it won't fix itself after 3 months. However, other symptoms like tenderness or water retention may go away. Sincerely, A 24-year-old woman with PCOS who is very tired of these pills and wants her fellow 20-year-old sisters to ENJOY their life to the fullest.Read More Read Less

I’ve been taking tri-sprintec for 2 months now and have had a horrible experience. Everyday I have severe nausea to the point where I can’t get out of bed. My acne is also the worst it has ever been in my life. Before taking this I got occasional migraines, but since starting this birth control I have had horrible migraines that have lasted days at a time that aren’t relived with pain killers. I am also extremely bloated to the point where my pants do not fit anymore. That and it did not help with my cramps in the slightest. This birth control might be worth a try for some, but for me, I don’t think I could recommend it with a good conscience.Read More Read Less

I am very happy with Tri-Sprintec. I have used several bc pills in the past, and all of them give me some symptom that is just unmanageable (acne, loss of sex drive, headaches, zero appetite, etc.). Not with this pill. My mental health is good, my brain fog has lessened, my skin has improved, sex drive is normal, etc. I see myself using this pill until I am ready to have children (5-6 years from now)

I took this birth control for over 3 years. I started taking it when I was 16. The first 2 months were terrible. I had suicidal thoughts and I was very depressed. I'm not entirely sure if it went away or if I just learned to cope. After the first year, I think it stabilized my emotions, as being off of the pill now feels like a slap in the face (soooo much crying???). It did a WONDERFUL job of keeping me from getting pregnant. I even missed pills, sometimes for days, or weeks. It helped my acne sooooo much. It made my cramps worse. It also made me so nauseous I couldn't get out of my bed for class or work sometimes, which I think could be because of the possible high blood pressure. I stopped taking it when I was 19 because I got two periods within the span of 2 weeks (most likely my fault for not taking it correctly). I was told by a different doctor that this is a low dosage of birth control (something to be mindful of). If you are younger than 18 please do not take this medication. Anything that can disrupt your hormones enough to change your emotions and the way you think will stunt your growth as an individual and you'll have to start completely over when you stop taking it. I've never had a medication have such negative effects on my mental health. I've tried many birth controls over the years and they always helped me skin and my menstrual backaches but most seemed to either do nothing for or slightly make me more irritable and sensitive the 2 weeks leading up to my period. This one however had HORRIBLE effects on my mood. I had recently gone through a breakup and wanted a something to try to regulate my mood a bit better and reduce cramps but it did the exact opposite. I cried every single day at least once for 2.5 months. No exaggeration. I was stuck in a personal hell in my mind with severe depression and the slightest thing would make me start crying non-stop. I knew what was going on and researched this was happening to TONS of women (though years later those reviews seem to have been buried on the internet). My doctor and others said their doctors told them to get to 90 days to see a difference but I just couldn't handle it anymore. After a couple days of stopping it I was back to my normal self. Not necessarily happy all the time, but content with knowing my moods are normal and anything was better than being on Sprintec. I didn't think about suicide, but I did fully understand why people who have depression over a long period of time would end things to make it stop. I then researched the crap out of my symptoms and found out I have PMDD. My irritability, moodiness and sadness happen the day after ovulation and on and off until my period starts. Low dose anxiety meds help but make me less productive (you need a little anxiety to get things done!) so I'm going back to my tried and true 100mg of 5HTP 3 weeks every month. Replaces your serotonin that drops with your hormone changes during your cycle and take a week off to keep your body from getting too used to it. Ibuprophen and heating pads help my cramps. I will never take birth control again. Read More Read Less

This birth control affected me in more negative ways than positive. Obviously I want to decrease my chances of getting pregnant. but not for the sake of my mental health. I have gained 20 pounds in just 4 months. I bloat and constantly feel like crap. I used to have trouble gaining weight. Now it feels like I can’t stop. I’m getting off of this birth control as of now. It has made me anxious, sad, nervous, depressed and caused cystic acne.

This birth control almost killed me. It gave me AGEP (very rare allergic reaction). I’d suggest googling the effects of AGEP and seriously seeking another form of b/c. I went through the worst pain of my life and it took months to recover.

I’m just leaving this here as a warning. This is 100% my experience, no exaggeration. I was on tri sprintec for about a year and a half. Not going to lie, it was a great birth control at first. I had no major side effects and my body really eased into the adjustment of the hormones. It helped with my acne and my periods were on such a good schedule, they started every Wednesday morning once a month. It was great. About 4 months on the birth control I started getting very emotional all of the time. My body eased into the medication so well, that I never even THOUGHT it was my birth control causing all of these bad feelings in my head. (Normally I’m emotional, but not near to the extent I was feeling on bc). I threw the emotionally blame on my boyfriend (even tho he was an Angel) and it ruined my relationship. The birth control made me cry 3 times a day, and something was ALWAYS wrong in my head. It felt like a storm cloud in my head 24/7. I remember having to literally tell myself “ok no crying today” and force myself to push the emotional feelings away all day. It was definitely a battle. Then one day I realized that I could be feeling this way because of my birth control. So I stopped taking it. It’s about 6 months since and it’s changed my life. I can’t even remember the last time I cried now. Emotionally, my head is just empty all the time now (no storm cloud). It’s a lot easier to be happy. My boyfriend and I are back together and our relationship is completely different now that I’m not taking that crap. We haven’t fought in months. So if you’re experiencing horrible emotional changes, please GET OFF OF THIS BIRTH CONTROL RIGHT NOW. It sucks the happiness right out of you. Read More Read Less

Started taking this kind of birth control recommended by my gynecologist. 4 days in i started vomiting for 3 days straight. Went to a doctor and had told me that the pill was making me feel sick. Currently changed to another birth control hoping it doesn't make me feel sick in any way. I just want to have less painful period and protect myself from pregnancy.

I have been taking Tri-Sprintec for 2 weeks now, and I have had no side effects at all so far, aside from breast tenderness. The bad reviews on here scared me, but after trying it I can say that it is worth a try. It is also very inexpensive, and I don't have insurance.

At first, it was great. No acne, bigger boobs… until the mental issues kicked in. I’ve been on this pill for over a year, and I’ve never cried so much in my entire life. I constantly cried, doubted myself, hated everything, and felt a sense of overall dread all of the time, no matter the pill being taken. I’ve tried therapy, hobbies, and being with friends… but this pill literally just made me dread every single thing and almost cost me my relationship. I was constantly doubting myself and coming to the conclusion that Im not good enough… which just isn’t a good thing to go through after multiple months. To summarize, this pill made me feel like I was literally going CRAZY. As far as effectiveness goes, 10/10… but personally, this pill impacted my mental health way too much to stay on it.
