Started drinking TryLyte solution at 7:30 am for a 2:00 pm Colonoscopy procedure. Drank it lemon flavored and finished it at 10:00 am. 11 visits to the bathroom and I'm almost clear. I did not get sick drinking it. My 10 Recommendations: 1.Play some good music like "I hold on" by Dirks Bentley or "I am Woman" by Helen Reddy. 2. Drink it cold and fast. 3. Mark off your drinks every 10 min...

Barely tolerable but effective. Coul not maintain the dosage schedule but managed the amount within 8 hours. Free one gallon container is an ecological waste. Am wondering if this stuff is just glorified and over-priced epsom salts?

My third time colonoscopy and the first time gave up for prep. Magnesium citrate 4 pm (because I ate light food and was told flush out what I ate but nothing happened), then 5 pm Trilyte 8 oz lemon flavor. I wished no flavor, not used to take artificial flavor or sweetner. Headaches, nausea, light vomiting and blow out, finally 6:30 started flashing out but felt strong nausea and could not drink anymore. Doctor tells me I can do it by taking slow and break between, but no way I could drink. I had to drink 8ozx12 times until 12 am and 32oz in 5 am. It's insane. Only 8oz glass made me flush out 10 times until 5 am and can't imagine drinking so much fluid and going to bathroom. Maybe my health conditions were not good (I was fighting against become upper respiratory infections until three days prior, but I did not have fever or sick.) I ate little rice to stop nausea 7 pm (doc said take nausea meds but no energy to drive to pharmacy!) Soon nausea stopped. By the time, I had dry mouth and throat irritation. 1 am and 5 am sipped water. I couldn't drink even water well. Exhausting experience.Read More Read Less

I took a generic form of this prep, the lemon-lime pre flavored (no flavor packets to add) (Polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution for my colonoscopy prep, Metoclopromode) Its taste is very palatable, imagine drinking a 7 up that has gone flat, it's a mild lemon-lime flavor that's a little bit salty. Easy to drink, no gag, no holding the nose. I started drinking it at 6.30pm and by 8pm it was working well. At 10.30 I was able to go to bed and sleep, waking only twice to empty. I started the 2nd dose at 5.30am and by 6.15 it was working. The expelled liquid was clear yellow but with tiny flecks of what looked like coffee grounds. Keep drinking. I had to be at the surgery center by 11am and was still emptying the bowel (or fluid at this point) up until 10.30am, I was able to take short naps in between runs to the bathroom but by 9.45 there was no leaving the bathroom at all. Once at the surgery center one more emptying and it was done and all flecks gone. So don't cheat with this by not drinking it all because those flecks could stop the procedure from happening, and you'd have to start all over again. Colonoscopy went well 2 small polyps removed and the pictures provided by the GI doc show a very clean colon. I see a lot of reviews that say trylite tastes really bad and they can't get it all down, to those people I say try the generic, lemon-lime, it really is easy to drink. Just wish you didn't have to drink a gallon, sice I also had to get down an additional 64oz water throughout the day. All in all, it's a once in 5 year thing to deal with. Just do it.Read More Read Less

It takes too long to work. Once it starts working it takes 2 days of continual slow progress to empty the bowel.

This is my 5th colonoscopy and I hve thought each time that I could make a fortune by making this Trlyte taste better but you are not supposed to add anything major to it. This time I discovered a white juice made by Welch's (mango peach) that I take a few gulps after the Trilyte and the taste disappears instantly. Probably not as much fun as bourbon but you'll be amazed with the effect.

I just had my first colonoscopy. I took 2 Dulcolax tablets which didn't seem to do much. At 6 p.m. I started drinking the Trilyte and drank a 12 oz glass every 15 minutes. The first two were not too bad, I had used the lemon flavor packet but it really didn't have much of a lemon naste. Not sure how I would describe the taste other than kind of chemically. The more glasses I drank the worse it tasted. I kept a bottle of water nest to me to try and get the taste out of my mouth. My husband told me that when he did his prep a few months ago he used a bourbon chaser and said that worked real well for him but unfortunately I don't drink alcohol. Kind of wished I did as it might have made it more acceptable. Anyway, I had to run to the bathroom about 45 minutes after I started drinking the stuff and just pretty much sat on the pot until around 8:30. My husband was actually bringing me the stuff to drink every 15 minutes while I sat there. Just turned the tv around to where I could see it from the bathroom and had a good book. It worked well as a prep as I was clear by around 9 am the next morning. My appointment was at 11. It wasn't pleasant but it wasn't the worst thing I've been thru.Read More Read Less

I started taking Trilyte at 5pm for a Colonoscopy at 10am the next day. Mine did not come with flavor packs, but I had seen other reviews about mixing it with Crystal Lite so that's what I did. I took one Crystal Lite Natural Lemonade flavor 3.2 oz powder packet (usually makes 12 quarts) and poured it in with the Trilyte powder, then mixed with water. It made the drink taste just fine.

Pharmacist said it could not be mixed with anything. Nauseating "taste" and had a very difficult time drinking all 4 liters of TriLyte. Finished all of the solution, but never got the full clearing of the bowel I had experienced with prep solutions used for five previous colonoscopy preps. Had a great deal of gag reflex on this, as well.

I started at at 4pm, I had to drink 3 liters before it started working at 10pm. I found the best way to drink it was adding 1/2 packet of sugar free wylers lemonaide mix to each 8 ounce glass. It was really lemony but covered up the awful taste of Trilyte. I was able to finish it only because I added the lemonaide mix. I was in the bathroom pretty much non stop from 10pm to 4am. Be prepared for very little sleep.

I call it the "radiator flush". I have no problem guzzling it down - probably since this is like my 8th colonoscopy (I have Ulcerative Colitis). The latest batch is pre-flavored with lemon-lime. Not too bad. I DO FEEL for those of you who are new at this: the concoction is pretty nasty.

I have been using TriLyte for the past day and a half to clear my colon because it is impacted. If you mix 8 oz. of the TriLyte with 8 oz. of cranberry juice or cran-grape juice it actually tastes pretty good. My doctor told me to mix half juice and half of TriLyte. I did not add the flavor packets, though. I thought it would taste worse with two flavors combatting each other. I am only on the second day, so I cannot say how well it has worked. By this evening, I should know. It has worked pretty well so far, but I still feel quite full. Overall, this is much easier to use than others have said. Don't be scared of it, just drink it with juice and it will taste fine. But, you need to use cranberry juice or something else with a very strong taste. Apple juice or other mild-tasting juices will be overpowered by the mineral-like taste of the TriLyte.Read More Read Less

I read comments about how terrible it was, and this was certainly not the case for me. I made the solution in the morning and let it sit all day. When I got home from work, I filled up a 32oz nalgene water bottle with it, and added crystal light powder mix to it (lemonade). I shook it up, and chugged it down. It probably took 5 minutes or so per 32oz with some time in between. Drink it fast and walk around, you'll be fine. Don't let the other reviews scare you, it really isn't that bad.

I am trying to use Trilyte as the prep for my colonoscopy but simply having absolutely no luck. I can't keep things down and can't drink it fast enough. There is just way too much of that stuff to drink. To make matters worse I had less than 24 hour notice of my procedure so I doubt I'll even finish half of the stuff and end up being told by the doctors that they can't do the colonoscopy. All I can do is pray for a miracle and hope to nevr have to experience this awful liquid ever again. Better options are necessaryRead More Read Less

Horrible taste even with the flavor packets; however, it is better than the thicker chalky prep I used for the last colonoscopy 5 yrs. ago. I took the 4 laxative pills earlier and then started on the liquid around 4pm and it started working immediately. It was too much to drink and tonight I'm drinking it slowly should have the entire thing finished by 9pm.

This is the second time I had to drink something like this. Trilyte was the worst but I drank most of it, certainly not all of it. It did the job. I hated the thick consistency the most. The salt burned my throat, my anus and turned my kidneys on overdrive as soon as they hooked me up to an I.V. I did drink something else with it but it still took all I could to get it down. I had loaded up on fluids all morning, afternoon, and into the evening. I started Trilyte at 8:30 pm instead of 2:00 in the afternoon and bowels ran clear before 2:00 am even though I ate vegetable beef noodle soup at two in the afternoon. No way was I going fast that long. Slept great and took several sips of water in the morning and a few sips of coffee too. Thank goodness I did because my colonoscopy was supposed to be at 11 am but I didn't even get into the procedure room until after one in the afternoon. Doc had to attend to an emergency in the O.R. Wonderful. As you may surmise, I didn't exactly follow what they recommended, I wasn't going in for that procedure half dead. Never was one to follow orders to the letter and I felt well enough to walk out of there minutes after I was done, could have driven myself home but figured smarter to have someone on hand for that. More importantly, the doc and staff were never the wiser and my colon was clean as a whistle. Glad it's over though.Read More Read Less

I will never drink this stuff again. If my Doc says that I have to drink it for next colonoscopy that comes up, I will not have the procedure. I was told to mix gatorade in the jug of TryLite. It taasted like gatorade with sea salt in it. Not happening. Can't drug companies come up with SOMETHING we can tolerate? I trult believe that some people will stop having colonoscopys if this is the only option.

I can't really accurately rate Trilyte yet, I'm only about 2 liters into it after 3 hours... I've been taking the slow route because it's gross and I have a huge phobia of vomiting. Anyway, I'm alone and don't have anyone else to talk to about it, so I wanted to write this. My doctor apparently advises people to do a split dosage, half one night and the rest in the morning. My exam isn't until 1pm tomorrow too, so that should work for me. Problem is, I haven't had any results yet... just getting bloated and my stomach is way full. So I'm not terribly happy at the moment; think I'm going to wait until something happens until I take any more. However, something AMAZING just happened, unfortunately it took me until this last 10oz of crap to try it. I did a lot of research on tips for drinking the stuff, and even though it said explicitly on the label "do not mix with flavorings other than the ones provided", a lot of people said they took it with Crystal Lite. I finally tried it, and holy moly... IT TASTES WONDERFUL NOW. So the verdict is still out on if I'm going to get cleared out down there, but once I can make some more room to drink more, I can not foresee having a problem drinking more. Wish my colon luck!Read More Read Less

As of 2011, patients should expect a more effective, more paletable, faster producing product for Colonoscopies than this stuff. A gallon plus of liquid, without tolerable taste, requiring many hours of usage - please! It's a joke, drug companies-
