I have taken a Ambien for over 15 years. As a sub. for the ambien I switch to Temazepam so that my tolerance to Ambian doesn't get to bad. It is not close to the effectiveness of Zolpidem (Ambian) But does work When I take Temazepam. Sometime I also add 5mg of Zolpidem 30 min after the 30mg Temazepam because Temz. just cant do the job.. I have real issues of not being able to fall asleep. Can lay there 2 hours and not drop off. Because of a fear of becoming addicted to it...I can take the 15 mg capsule and dump less than half out in a spoon to take and it helps me fall asleep. Sometimes I will wake back up and can do the same thing and go back to sleep. One pill can last me at least 4 nights.

I was having poor REM sleep. Got up a few times during the night. This medication is supposed to help with that. I do sleep a little longer and somewhat fewer wake ups. I am taking the maximum dose. I feel that it works to some degree but not as much as I would like.
