I have always been a stay up all night person (backwards I guess) so I got a thrid shift job and I don't need anything when I work but when I'm off I do have to take something, if I wanna sleep.I got laid off from my job for a couple of months (great more sleppless nights) and after a couple of weeks 10mg does not work at all and I had terrible memory loss which is scary.. my husband said ... Watch out with this medication. I have been taking 10 mg of zolpidem for over 4 months now. I sleep like a baby. But... Soon after I take it I eat and don't know I am eating. Last night my daugter told me I was eating with my eyes closed. I see wrappers in the garbage the next day and don't remember eating. It was said I get zombie like at times. As I write this I have taken my dose of Zolpidem over two hours ago and am still awake. This is not an infrequent occurrence. When I do fall asleep I wake up two to three times during the night. The most effective method for me is to skip a night and then take the medication. For me this means no sleep at all and I am so tired that probably a sugar pill would work.
