I didn't like this contraceptive at all. I had vaginal discomfort and it hurt me to have sex. I am currently on it and I am now constantly depressed and have had suicidal thoughts. It made my period alot heavier then normal. Overall I didn't like the drug, I don't think that it's right for me at all.

I have a worst rash I've ever seen... theres hundreds of water blisters ALL over me, and it hurts to swallow. Please dont take this!!!

My doctor prescribe Solia because i have irregular period cycles. I hate it already! I couldn't enjoy the holidays because I was so depressed all the time, I have no sex drive at all. My skin color is turning yellow and I am breaking out more often than usual and my appetite has increase. I am having a really bad experience similar to the other comments. I am going to stop taking it and find another bc. Thank you for all the other comments posted.

I started taking Solia after my previous birth control was discontinued. I was really nervous because I had a horrible experience with Yaz and the birth control that was discontinued was finally a fit for my body, so here I was about to try another kind of birth control and I was terrified of having bad side effects like I did with Yaz. Solia was PERFECT. I was on Solia for about 3 yrs. before I stopped Feb. 2010 because I was not having sex and the fact that I thought my body needed a break from being on birth control for 5 yrs. My overall experience was a great one. I had no weight gain, sex-drive loss, nausea ... anything. I didn't realize how wonderful my skin was until after I got off Solia and my face started to have random breakouts. It wasn't until I goggled Solia that I found it treated acne as well (added bonus). I am now 2 yrs. off birth control and will be going to the doctor today to get a prescription for "Solia". I am very excited. Everyone reacts differently to different hormones and the levels they are administered. You will not know how your body will react until you try it. :) Read More Read Less

I was on Solia for a little over a year. It was great for my skin and caused no weight gain, periods were on time, never ever got pregnant. However I suffer from vulvar vestibulitis and am not sure if it is from the pill or not...After a while this pill caused a sharp pain in my chest and made me extremely dry in my vagina. The worst part is I had ZERO sex drive!!! none, at all!! I am 20 so that is extremely abnormal. I am switching to Yaz and hope that works for me.

I've been taking solia for 4 months now and i like it...i dont know why but it seems as if i am losing weight, i dont know if its my new job and having to walk around all day but nonetheless this medication has regulated my period. I'm not really taking it for the birth control part just to regulate my period but i can kill two birds with one stone. I rate this medicine as good but everyone reacts to everything and anything differently

When I first started taking it, everything was fine. I didn't gain any weight and my emotions didn't go crazy or anything. But now I'm realizing that I really have NO sex drive at all whatsoever and I'm becoming depressed and moody. Hoping to be off it soon.

I was having problems with irregular periods, so my dr prescribed me Solia. Being my 1st birth control, I was already hesistant in taking it but my dr specifically recommended it for me, and what did I have to lose! It did regulate my periods, but I also suffered from side effects. I was constantly bloated, to the point where my skin (hands, face, all over) looked puffy. I experienced an increase in cup size, going from a smaller A to a VERY full B. I also experienced an increase in appetite, gaining about 15 lbs over 6 months. I worked out, ate salads, nothing I could do would take the weight off. Plus, things that normally appealed to my taste buds didn't have the resiliance they normally do..even coffee (and I'm an addict!). I was ALWAYS feeling fatigued and sluggish throughout the day, no matter how much sleep I got. Plus, it made me break out on my back and shoulders. It also made me extremely emotional, I would cry often, and at the drop of a hat! All of my side effects are possible symptoms of depression, which I would otherwise have no reason for! I lacked any sort of drive or motivation for daily activities. Theo nly plus was I had no decrease in sex drive. I took Solia for a solid 6 months and after stopping, I immediately dropped 6 lbs in 4 days--with regular eating and not even going to the gym! It has been 2 1/2 months since I stopped, and I couldn't be happier. No more crying, my unsatiable hunger has stopped, I am more energized (on less sleep!), my taste buds are back, bacne has vanished and I have continued to lose weight. Surprisingly, my periods have also gotten lighter! I have noticed a small decrease in cup size (due to weight loss), but am still a full B. I have not started on a different type of BC pill at this point, rather I am enjoying my life back to the way it used to be...HAPPY! :) In the future, I plan on finding a birth control option with a lower dose of hormones.Read More Read Less

I see that I'm among the minority that likes this BC! I have been taking Solia for 6 months now and have never had any issues. I read a lot of reviews after my Dr. prescribed Solia, and I got really worried about gaining weight and losing my sex drive. I have been very lucky over the past few years as my period lasts about 3-4 days and is never very heavy, so I was worried this medication might change that. Luckily, it didn't...in fact it made it so that I bleed very little for 3-4 days! It has also allowed my bf and I to be a little more spontaneous; we don't always have to worry about having a condom available. I'd have to say that I'm very satisfied with Solia!Read More Read Less

I never had any problems with my period until I started taking this BC. For the first time in my life I'm having cramps and headaches every month. The duration and heaviness of my period hasn't changed; luckily it wasn't bad to begin with. The worst thing has been the mood changes. I was a cheerful, optimistic, even-tempered person before I started taking Solia about six months ago. Now I cry at least 3 times a week, usually over nothing, and my husband has brought up the possibility of me stopping the BC to see if my depression gets better. At this point, I'll do anything. Ummm I'm probably the only minority that likes this medication. I have been on it for 3 years now. My periods are only heavy for a few days and then it becomes lighter. My period lasts for 4-5 days at the most. My sex drive has not slowed down at all and no vaginal discomfort. I did gained some weight and I did go up a cup size but it wasn't a significant amount of weight.

I used to have a strong, healthy sex drive, but when I started taking birth control it disappeared. After trying a few brands, a doctor recommended Solia to fix my problem. What a nightmare. Initially, it worked. Then I started to get the most terrible breakouts around my period, and the cramps were unbearable. The sex I did have hurt like nothing else, and for the past month I haven't been able to orgasm, even by myself. To tell the truth, I'd rather get pregnant than go through this. I wish I'd known about user reviews before taking this.Read More Read Less

My pharmacy recently switched me from the Apri 28's to Solia. My weight has increased without a change in diet or exercise and my breasts have become almost a cup size larger! I went back to the Doctor and requested that I get a prescription written for my old pill. Hopefully - this will help.

I hated this pill. Before starting this birth control, my periods didn't bother me a bit. Solia made my periods UNBEARABLE. My sex drive disappeared, and I seemed psychotic to even myself! Horrible birth control.

Worst birth control I've ever been on. I had vaginal discomfort, nausea, sex hurt, and bloating. I would not recommend this to anyone.
