I have a quick question that I want to ask you. Is it possible for a doctor to write a patient a prescription of dilaudid and phenegran in order for them to give themselves injections.

Take this in combination with bupivacaine and hydromorphone in my pain pump. Have for almost 6 years, now down to 30 oral tabs of oxy every 90 days or less. It has changed my life. Was able to stop gaberpentin and other toxic drugs. I know that my severe back pain (6 level fusion), degenerative disc disease, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis will not be cured but definitely muted by the combination. Would definitely recommend!

Had a giant cell tumor on my femur, morphine wasn't enough to calm my pain (pre and post surgery) so I was switched to dilaudid and it efficiently releaved me of my suffering.

I was put on Dilaudid inj. in my morphine pump for chronic back pain after surgery. After about 6 yrs. of turning up my pump bi~weekly, I started to have seizures about every 6/8 hrs. Doctor says it's not the drug causing seizures. After suffering 2 yrs. with these, and they advanced to every 20 mins. It took me 7 doctors to figure out that it was this drug causing all my problems. Avoid if you can, please.. I was an hour from dying when I received my diagnosis.I was weened off the drug, and pump was removed. I still suffer with chronic pain, but life is good..Read More Read Less

It almost killed me in the hospital. Was given an injection before a CT as I was having chest pain. I have a severe allergy to morphine but the nurse didn't check record before injection. Needl Ess to say I was breathless before they could call a crash cart. Took a rebreather and an injection of Benadryl to bring me around. All this with half the staff in my room didn't help me feel better. Please check the allergy chart before giving opiates

Had a hole in my stomach and I accumulated 20lb of infection within seven days. Was given dilaudid with pain pump to help ease my horrific pain. Sometimes it'd cause nausea but forthr most part only a slight "rush" through my body when I used it. it didn't make my pain disappear but easier to live with.

After fourty years of having migraine headaches I have just gotten out of a two-week inpatient hospital stay for the MOST ACUTE headaches I have had in my life. IV Dilaudid was the only thing that quelled the pain and even that took an hour or more after the time when the drug was initially administered by hopital staff. Ultimately I was told that the headaches were caused by low blood sodium?

I have taken this medication several times over the past 3 1/2 years. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer and morphine does not work for me, so they substituted Dilaudid. The PRN shots instantly relax me and take the pain away within a minute. The Basil pump with a constant drip worked well enough that my break-thru pain was not nearly as bad as I'd expected it to be. The only issue I have with it is that after being on it for a few days, I get muscle spasms. The longer I'm on it, the worse they get. One time my jaw spazzed and it was as if I'd been punched in the face, sans the pain that goes with it. Made it hard to sleep and I asked to be removed immediately. Withdrawal was not horrible, but not super easy, either.Read More Read Less

Within 45 minutes of a Dilaudid injection, I had severe and continuous vomiting that required Emergency Room treatment. I will now put this drug on my medical information card to alert medical staff NOT to give me this drug due to severe side effects.

I was recently hospitalized with a perianal abcess which required immediate surgery. While the dilaudid helped with the pre-surgical pain, I was unprepared for the post-surgical effects. The morning after surgery, my poor nurse (bless her soul) gave me a dose prior to checking my dressing so I wouldn't suffer. While in the middle of her task, I suddenly couldn't take a full breath. Ten medical professionals ended up in my room and could not figure out the problem - they had me on oxygen, my vitals, including oxygen, were reading fine. Why could I not draw a full breath? They finally got me down with a shot of Ativan. Later that day, after another shot of Dilaudid, they tried to to a CT on my chest, thinking I'd thrown a clot which caused my earlier episode. The CT team was a bunch of yahoos and managed to blow two IV connections in my face, which threw me into another panic attack. I will now put this medication on my list of "allergies" in the future.Read More Read Less

The first couple doses were fine. Put me in a groggy state and right to sleep. Last two doses I broke out into hives on my arm. Last dose reaction was worse than previous. Rash got more intense, redder and spread further. The pumped benadryl into my IV immediately.

This is a powerful drug and is very unlikely to be given outside the care of a medical professional. I was in the E.R. for SEVERE pain, I was temporarily relieved by this drug. Be prepared for the side effects:I was hallucinating and couldnt sleep and seemed to be in a eurphoric state until the pain returned. I must say I experienced a problem with the amount of time the drug worked. It seemed I was given doses every 1-2hrs for pain: This may have been due to my particular problem(burst ovarian cyst) or my tolerance. I doubt however that this iscommon or normal. Overall you will be satisfied with the results despite the side effects.Read More Read Less

Severe pain in the abdomen sent me to the ER. Turned out it was incarcerated bilateral hernia. Before it was diagnosed, I was given IV dilaudid to ease the pain. It was fast acting. I felt it going in. I had an unpleasant muscle sensation in EVERY muscle in my body accompanied by muscles tightening(spasm?). My vision got affected with color/contrast/brightness changing. The pain subsided within probably 15-30 seconds at which time I collapsed, muscles relaxed and started crashing. Heart rate dropped to 28, BP dropped and I was paralyzed. I couldn't respond to anything although I was still conscious. The monitor alarms were all beeping loudly and people came running. My shirt was cut away, defibrillator attached and another drug injected into the IV to counter the effects of the dilaudid. It worked, I started being able to interact and all the pain came back. It was terrifying. I felt really tired for about 24 hrs. My hernia had to be reduced without pain medication (couldn't give me anything else after what happened). Very painful, very 1850's style, very loud yelps coming from me. I'm told I can NEVER again let anyone use dilaudid on me again as I am hypersensitive to it.Read More Read Less
