I just finished one month on this drug after exposure to the blood of an HIV infected person. I hope it worked but will need further blood tests. I felt mild nausea while taking the drug and these symptoms seemed to get a little worse after I finished treatment. HIV is not just a disease of drug users and gays. If a 57 year-old, married, hetrosexual, managomous person can be exposed, anyone can...

I had taken generic Truvada for about 50-60 days I think. I discontinued using it because I noticed a mental fog and it gave me frequent occular migraine/migraine (10+ month.) This might be ok for some but I have to be sharp for work. Other side effects were I had vivid dreams and mild but not concerning changes in urine (bubbly and odorous, not dark or any change in output) I'm going to try Descovy and see if I tolerate it better.

After on this medicine for 8 months I developed a severe sore throat. I could not eat or drink for one week, and had to be hospitalized, the pain was worst I ever had. and still have the soar throat after 2 weeks, although I can eat and drink now. We believe the Truvada caused a hyper-response to a sore throat virus.

I have been taking Truvada for about 16 years and I am undetectable and CD is around 1000. Iâ??ve never had any side effects that I know of. I have chronic migraines but have all my life and take other medications so it might be hard to pinpoint anything to this particular drug but when I started and even now I donâ??t have any known side effects from this drug. Itâ??s easy to take. Once a day at bedtime.

This drug destroyed my sense of taste and smell in only approximately 35 days. I of course stopped taking it when this happened. It's been two months and I am noticing no improvement.

The side effects are real. After one year of taking Truvada I was hospitalized for Acute Kidney Injury. While hospitalized my bone density was classified as Osteoporosis. Iâ??m 36. Truvada is especially dangerous with alcohol. You donâ??t need to be a gym jock that likes to go out to clubs either. Iâ??m a Sommelier and even a casual drinker taking Truvada can find themselves in serious risk of kidney damage. Be careful of the promise of a carefree lifestyle, you may end up on dialysis.

I tried Truvada for PreP twice within 6 months apart and under my doctor's supervision and both times I got horrible allergic reaction that made my groin's right side and my right buttock have a very painful burning sensation that only goes away after discontinuing the medicine.

I experienced bad side effects and had to stop taking it after 5 days. I had bad headaches, dizziness, loss of concentration, and body aches that felt like they were coming from my kidneys.

I have been taking this medication for about a year. I have a very high sex drive and get tested quarterly. My test results have been negative. In regards to the side-effects, I highly recommend that it be taken before one goes to bed -to eliminate feeling any side effects such as, nausea, headaches, etc. Further, be sure to take this medication with Calcium supplements as well as Vitamin D -so that the body is able to absorb the Calcium. It is required to take Calcium and Vitamin D when taking this medication. Overall, this drug is effective. Be safe and be well. Read More Read Less

I take this with raltegravir. Been on thesse two for 5 years. I gained 90lbs in the first 6 months as well as serious nausea and vomiting problem. The weight gain stopped but I still get nausea very easily and have lost most of my appetite. Medical marijuana has helped immensely but hasn't stopped it completely. Also my weight gain was weird. I gained under the arms, my upper arms and upper back as well as my stomach, but mostly in almost a band around my chest. really noticable under the arms. Had very vivid, extremely realistic dreams that were hard to te from memories sometimes. I kinda enjoyed them but they were also disconcerting.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Truvada with Viramune (neviripine) since 2005. Viral load undetectable since then. However there are now concerns re phosphate levels in kidneys and will have to have it monitored closely (RPB test).

Just started on Truvada for PrEP. So far, I've seen no obvious complications or side effects. My body seems to be adjusting to it okay. I can't comment on the effectiveness unless I get HIV.

Great meds in combo with intresses no side effects yet though have few issues with motions and itchiness, but not sure if they are due to meds.

I have been taking Truvada since 2004. Issentress was added in 2011. I have taken AIDS meds since 1994. My viral load has ranged from 1200 to 3M, but recently has been at 27K. My CD4 is between 325 and 625. My CD4 % is usually 14%. I have numerous side effects including a hospitalization for pancreatitis, nightmares, kidney disease, gas, drowsiness, fatty liver, excessive sweating and accumulation of fat on my belly. I am Bi-polar, but recently my level of depression has increased due to Truvada. I take D3 to counter the bone loss as I have a moderately low bone density, maybe due to taking Truvada. I've just started taking issentress with truvada after being exposed to the virus. It's been two weeks and I've had servere vomiting and depressed mood and loss of appetite. The doctor say I have to be on these extremely expensive medications for 28 days. I guess I will have to be tested again to see if it works and will I have HIV in two months. I pray this works.
