I have recurrent sinus infections/problems, and my ENT recommended this drug for me. It breaks up phlegm, clears my sinuses, and helps me to breathe more freely through my nose. I highly recommend it.

This medicine has caused me alot of grief. I highly suggest to read all of the reviews and all of the information on this product before taking it. I failed to do that and I blacked out while driving and wrecked my car. You always hear how good Mucinex is but I can promise you that I will never take it again. I have had a chest x-ray, cat scan and lots of blood work and everything was good. ...

I had to go to the emergency room after taking mucinex d. I woke up dizzy and disoriented. I could not get back to sleep feeling very jittery and anxious. Then my heart began to pound relentlessly which was why I went to the hospital. Never ever taking this again.

This medication is the only thing that helps me when I get horrible sinus headaches and too much drainage to be able to breathe and sleep at night

I had terrible post-nasal drip and head congestion from a cold and decided to try Mucinex D. It helped me enormously. I didn't even realize my hearing had been affected until I took it and could suddenly hear again! I felt so much better I thought my cold was gone, until 12 hours later when it wore off and I felt miserable again. Great stuff. I wouldn't dare take it at night, but a morning dose keeps me functioning and clear-headed.

This medicine works wonders for me when I have a cold. Within half an hour of taking it, I don't feel sick anymore. I'm a teacher, so I'm exposed to a lot of germs, but I don't like taking off, so this helps me make it through the day. It does increase your blood pressure, and it makes it harder to sleep if you take it too late in the evening, but it is great for giving you energy for the day. My only major problem with the drug is the nausea I experience. But that is just how it affects me. I would absolutely give it a try!Read More Read Less

For me, mucinex d has been life changing!!!! I've suffered from migrains and seasonal issues, usually related to barometric pressure changes. I met someone who shared the same symptoms, she said she watched the weather and began taking M-D 3 or so days before. So, I went right out & bought some. I have been taking it now for about 3 weeks, when I miss a day (as I have done twice) I end up with a migraine, vomiting and lose the whole day. Now I' m wondering, are there precautions to long term use? I do not notice any negative side effects. I will splurge on my next purchse to get the strongest dose and take less often. I'm thankful for M-D!!!!Read More Read Less

Had congestion, stuffy nose and hoarseness. Was told by others I sounded congested. Family and friends suggested I may have allergies instead of a cold and to take Mucinex D and Allegra. I took 1 Mucinex in the AM and Allegra late at night.I could not sleep, lose of appetite, jettery..and worst of all I lose of my sense of smell. After 5 days I stopped taking both. Praying my sense of smell returns in a day or two. Will contact my PCP for further review of my situation.

This product has worked very well for me for both sinus and chest congestion. I only take one 12-hour tablet per day since I have some sensitivities to other medicines like Claritin-D. I want to be able to sleep at night. Because I'm also an allergy sufferer, I'll take one Benadryl at night INSTEAD of another Mucinex-D (otherwise I'm prone to a few sneezes during the night). I'll also do one nasal rinse at night before going to bed.

Have had two terrible colds (or one that maybe reoccurred after a week's time) within the past winter month. With them, I've had a relentless runny nose & was blowing out clear watery mucus nearly every couple of minutes. Blown thru about 6 boxes of tissue in 3 days kind-of-irritating/bad. The first time I used Mucinex DM (the cough med not behind counter). It didn't work well for me. Symptoms subsided after about a week's wait (and during the time was also prescribed taking an antibiotic and tickle pills for cough from urgent care--which both were ineffective placebos in my opinion), but then returned. Was advised to take Mucinex from urgent care but not specified which one. Take my advice from experience now-- make sure if you're 18 to get the Mucinex D-- behind the counter one. It has a special decongestant ingredient that is worth signing off for due to legal concerns. Warning: Mucinex D is very difficult/funky when I first took it-- but effective after waiting a few days. Give it time. On the first evening, I felt very nauseous, but didn't actually throw up/was spitting a lot in trash can. Still had a dry cough that was unproductive. Still felt congestion/stuffed up in the nose. One side of my face was more stuffed up than the other. Didn't feel like it worked right away. Thought "oh great I wasted money." Couldn't sleep right away. However, I was finally able on first night to get maybe 2 hours or less of sleep as nose stopped running. The next day what a powerful change! Nauseous feeling went away. Went reluctantly to work and didn't have to blow my nose every other minute. Downside was I was coughing a lot. But, the cough at times became more productive. Was able to swallow what I wasn't able to immediately cough up onto tissue. But near the end of the second day I was able to easily cough up a nasty looking chunk of mucus about the size of a quarter, and other smaller streaks of nasty mucus chunks along the way. Get a nasal spray for this. Helps too. Read More Read Less

I am not pleased with Mucinex D at all. My symptoms are worse and do not feel any better than before I took it. I to am sneezing more and have a full head. I will not waste my money on this product again. Way over advertised and rated.

I was only able to take this for 2 days before stopping. I have an upper respiratory infection and my doc recommended this. It only relieved my congestion for a couple of hours but it gave me such horrible dry mouth that I could barely breathe. I did follow directions and drank copious amounts of water but nothing helped. Considering how expensive this product is, I expected a lot more from it.

The only medicine that helps with my stuffy nose. Does make you feel a little "hyper", makes me a little warm etc., but works wonders for me compared to other cold medicines/decongestants.

Not sure what the negative reviews are about, but Mucinex D works wonders. I have a severe head cold and asthma so breathing normally is essential. I've been taking it for 2 days now and I am sleeping much better (because I can breathe) and the congestion is clearing out swiftly (thats what an expectorant is supposed to do). I avoided a trip to the hospital so I am very happy.
