The key to this med is PMDD. Go online, track your symptoms, and talk to your doctor after 2 months of solid tracking. If you don't have PMDD, don't take it. I have PMDD & have had GREAT results with it. It took about three months to completely balance my hormones. But since, my mood is better, cramps are better, brest tenderness & swelling is gone, fatigue is gone. Acne was never an issue w...

I was taking for PMDD or PME like symptoms. I'd had 3 months of crippling anxiety in the week leading up to my period...like clockwork. I have anxiety in general, but this was SO much worse. I took it for a week, and within a few days, I had an ocular migraine (confirmed by the optometrist after I went in for seeing flashes of light). I ended up finding out combination birth control is not advised if you have migraines with aura, so I stopped taking it. Miraculously, the nagging headache I'd had the entire time disappeared shortly after. While on it during that week, however, I found myself even MORE anxious and emotional than previously. It was like I wasn't even taking my anxiety meds. Since then (2.5 weeks later), I'm still been extremely on edge and not in the best place. I'm hoping with time, anxiety meds, and seeing my therapist, that things will level back out. Yaz definitely was NOT for me.Read More Read Less

I had a very bad reaction to Yaz. Within 2 weeks I had to stop it. Heightened anxiety (at times it felt there were 3 heartbeats in my chest whenever I tried to relax), crippling full-night insomnia, mood swings, and frequent uncomfortable urination so bad I ended up in two walk-ins to get tests for UTIs, and then booking a bladder ultrasound and urologist appointment, assuming I had interstitial cystitis or OAB. Within a couple days of stopping this pill the anxiety and frequent urination started to subside, but the experience has created a lot of anxiety surrounding sleep, and I've had to go back on a low-dose of my PPD antidepressants and do cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia. I will never again try hormonal contraceptives for PMDD/severe PMS, or for any reason whatsoever. Read More Read Less

After dealing with hormonal acne for about 2 years now, I decided to go back on birth control as my last resort to treat my skin problem after countless Dermatologist visits and Curology. This birth control has truly been a miracle solution to my skin because within 3 months of being on it, my skin has improved greatly. No more Bad Breakouts. No more excess Sebum. All gone. Not only did it help get rid of acne, but it also helped solved other issues that were caused by my imbalance hormones such as water weight, body inflammation, stomach bloating, mood swings, and more. In the first month, there were definitely some fluctuations as your body gets adjusted to the new medication but after that, you will be completely fine as long you stick to your diet and skincare routine. I would definitely reccomend this birth control pill for imbalanced hormones and is the least weight gaining pill brand out of all them.Read More Read Less

I was on yaz for a little over two years. Perfectly healthy, athlete and then I never experienced anxiety and I started having uncontrolled panic attacks. I worried constantly, emotional, and stress levels were at an all time high. My heart rate and blood pressure skyrocketed. I didn’t know why all of the sudden I was struggling so hard. Went to the OB and she immediately told me not to take it again. She prescribed me Slynd and we will see how it goes. It did clear up my skin but not enough to continue to take it after the last year has felt for me.Read More Read Less

I started taking Yaz after dealing with extremely heavy periods for 10+ days and my doc finding several cysts. Before, while my periods were long, they were always regular. I would have hormonal acne the week before and minor cramping and mood swings week of. I only lasted 8 days on Yaz (Nikki) before I had to stop. I was waking up and going to sleep with awful anxiety. I deal with anxiety normally, but this anxiety was the worst I’ve ever had. I couldn’t even sleep. I started it on day one of my period. After stopping taking it on day eight my period lasted NINETEEN days. And not even just spotting- full blown medium flow bleeding. By day 10 of my period I began experiencing migraines (not normal for me) all day long. I ended up having to ask my doctor for migraine meds because no over the counter meds were working. This pill completely destroyed my cycle and hormones but I absolutely could not have stayed on it with the amount of anxiety it gave me. Read More Read Less

best birth control ever. The first form of birth control I was prescribed (not yaz) gave me horrible hormonal acne, and crazy mood swings. After going off of this one and starting yaz, my acne disappeared, my mood swings were gone, and I no longer experienced PMDD. For anyone who is skeptical about trying out yaz, GIVE IT A CHANCE!!! you will see progress and good changes within the first few months.

My dermatologist put me on yaz for my severe acne. The first time, I took it for 5 months. Acne cleared away magically. Skin was finally glowing after 11 years of being ridden with severe cystic acne. But as soon as I stopped, it worsened again. On the first month of taking it, I had sudden mood swings, breakdowns and suicidal thoughts but that went away the second month so I continued. The second time, I decided to take it for 9 months for my cystic acne again and my extremely painful, heavy periods. I’ve always had heavier and more painful periods than others, and it’d gotten so worse that I screamed, vomited and passed out from the pain 2 months consecutively (used to happen 5 years ago, it was so painful to the point I couldn’t walk and pass out). I visited a gynecologist and they also suggested I take yaz for 9 months. I didn’t do any tests, so I’m not sure it was just PMS, PMDD or PCOS. I’m on my 7th month right now. Acne has cleared. No more cystic acne like before. Periods are lighter, pain is manageable compared to before but still hinders my daily activity so I always take pain killers. Aside from the benefits, I gained 6-7 kgs in 7 months and have increased appetite now. I’m not sure if it’s because of the pills, but my depression worsened. I became suicidal, had no energy to get out of bed, often had hysteria and harmed myself. Now I’m taking magnesium supplements for my depression and chronic insomnia. It’s been amazing! I finally have the energy to do things and feel normal again. I’m sure my acne will return once I go off this, so I’ll be switching to tretinoin ointment for my acne. And I’ll try and lower my sugar intake as it worsens both my acne and period pain by causing inflammation in the body. I’ll also visit a Gynecologist again to see if I have any underlying condition that’s causing such painful periods and what else I can do for it. My derm and psychiatrist said being a virgin causes hormonal imbalances. I’m 25 now. Not sure if not having sexual intercourse is causing this or not, but there’s not much I can do about it. TLDR: Yaz works wonders for cystic acne and regulating hormones, menstrual flow and pain. But the side effects (depression, weight gain) are not worth it, plus it’s not a permanent solution for acne. So it’s a no for me. I don’t want to mess with my hormones again and be on pills forever. Read More Read Less

while it did clear up the tiny breakouts and gave protection, even after 2 months (starting my 3rd month in a few days) of use, i still experience moderate breast tenderness that hasnt gone away, prolonged bleeding/ breakthrough bleeding which lasts me about 2 weeks - again; with no signs of improvement despite never missing or being late with a pill. I’m also a lot more prone to headaches than before but didnt think it was a symptom of the medication until i saw the other reviews. Since I know weight gain is a common concern, I can say i havent experienced any. Read More Read Less

I’m writing this on behalf of my daughter. We thought being on YAZ might help with acne and less bleeding during monthly cycles. She used YAZ manufactured by Glenmark for 3 months, which decreased number of menstrual days for months 2 and 3 and she feels she was getting better with acne the 3rd month. The 4th month, she noticed the pill colors had changed. She then experienced notable mood swings and a week long period. When we went in to pick up her new prescription yesterday for month 5, we asked what happened and why she was getting different pills. They explained the manufacturer changed. The first three months were from Glenmark and the 4th month was from the manufacturer called Kamber. They put a note on her file that she prefers YAZ manufactured by Glenmark, but they said we can let them know if she gets the wrong pills since it defaults to Kamber. I wonder if some negative reviews are how people respond differently to the different manufacturers because my daughter definitely noticed a difference between Glenmark and Kamber. I hope this helps others. Read More Read Less

This medication felt like it almost killed me. I was having mood swings before Yaz before my period. On Yaz, I immediately experienced severe gastrointestinal distress, but was told to "wait it out." The pain in my chest from heartburn felt like I might be having a heart attack, but it was GERD. However I thought I would wait a few weeks to my first period on Yaz and see if it stopped the pre-menstrual mood swings. It made them worse than they had ever been prior to Yaz, to the point that I did not want to live. Luckily I had the presence of mind to know it must be a side effect of the medication. I also did not have yeast infections before Yaz, but started getting them when I used Yaz. This medication was for me quite dangerous and not ineffective, but counter-effective. Poison. Later I listened to reviews from people who very literally nearly died and was glad I stopped listening to the pill pushers who told me to wait it out and dismissed my symptoms as unrelated. i have decided to stop using birth control pills. i asked some people i know that were diagnosed with pcos and what pill did they take, and apparently their obgyne prescribed diane. however, my obgyne prescribed me yaz. i've experienced soooo many changes in my body after taking yaz birth control pills. ?? 1. my cycle got regular and the pms symptoms lessened (like cramps). i rarely experience cramps anymore. back then, i would pass out before my period came, and even during my period, the cramps were sooo bad. 2. my acne worsened! i've been seeing my dermatologist after i had noticed that my acne worsened last year (around the time i started taking the pill). i had no idea why my acne kept coming back even though i have been strictly following the routine my dermatologist has set up for me. the people i knew also told me about the effects of yaz on acne – theirs worsened too. 3. extreme mood swings and anxiety! i would absolutely get annoyed or mad for no reason. it was so much worse than the time before i started taking the pill. what i hated the most is that i would get so anxious about doing school stuff, etc., which was totally unhelpful because i needed to get things done. at times, i just wanted to lock myself up in my room and never go out. overall, my experience with yaz was 50/50. i was glad that my cycle got regular now and the symptoms are not as worse as before, but i would not recommend that you take this when you want to treat hormonal acne. it might work wonders for some people, but to some (like me), it might make things worse. i've been taking this for 6 months now, so i'm going to stop first and see what will happen after i stopped taking the pill. :)) best of luck to you all!Read More Read Less

literally saved my life living with PMDD. i was about to take my life because of how much i was suffering for 3 weeks straight each month. it was impossible to function, or to breathe even. it took about 2ish months until i felt better. the difference is night and day. i do have to be EXTREMELY rigid about taking this on time (if i miss it by 1-2hrs 2 days in a row ALL my symptoms return in full swing for a month and i bleed/spot the entire time). only side effects ive noticed is occasional waves of headaches (ive never had headaches in my life before) but theyre nowhere near unmanageable and ill trade them anyday over what i went through before. i hope this gives someone out there hope that if you have PMDD this might be the answer. you are loved and i believe in you. i hope you find a solution <3Read More Read Less

Despite all the not so good review's that made me dred starting. I've now been on Yaz close to two months with little to no side effects. Early on I had random spotting while the pill adjusted but no effects in regards to my moods, my sex drive or weight gain. Never had issues with my skin so havent seen a change there but my period was the easiest I'd ever had it not to mention and I don't know if my crazy but I think there has been a change in my breasts, I think they have got abit bigger but it's really early still. Birth control works differently for everyone remember that. If your considering it, try it to know for yourself and don't let the reviews you see scare you off. I wanted to wait a full 3 months in order to leave a more accurate result. As many of you, I was very hesitant to start this BC pill because I was scared at all those horrible side effects that many of you experience. However, something IS clear with this pill... Everything will get worse before it gets better. I tried Nexplanon for about 3 years, went pretty well before I fell into the worst depression of my life, then went off BC for almost 6 years and was experiencing really bad PMS symptoms overall... I would have PMS symptoms such as tender breasts, incredibly bad mood swings, and extreme water retention (up to 10lbs) that would last 2 full weeks of the month, and now because of a serious relationship with an OBGYN he practically wouldn't shut up about getting on BC... so I did. The first 6 weeks on Yaz were somewhat a hell ride, not gonna lie, my PMDD got worse, the mood swings were kind of letting me to think I was bipolar and I just felt like I was in a dark hole (similar to nexplanon). I started to break out (which I've never even owned pimple cream because if I've had 2 pimples in my whole life it's too much to say) and I was just not happy nor felt good overall. However, I knew before taking this pill that the first few months were going to be tricky because I was aware that it takes time for your body to adjust to the hormonal change and let me tell you what... IT ACTAULLY DID. 6 weeks into it my BF and I decided I was going to give it a couple more weeks before switching to another pill because we agreed it was affecting me really bad and then suddenly POOF, one day I woke up feeling like a totally different person. It's as if overnight the hormonal balance kicked in and I felt it. One whole month later and I cannot explain to you how happy, at peace and just overall great i've been feeling. No irritable mood, no ups and downs, nothing... just a constant smile in my face. I even feel so much more energized on a daily basis just wow, great overall. The break out cleared up (i'm down to a pimple at a time but im okay with that because its nothing makeup can't cover) and I even lost a couple lbs on this pill... Idk if they were water related or what but all my pants are literally falling off. I know everybody's body is different but I'd suggest you wait for the 3 month mark to give your body a chance to adapt. I am really happy with this pill and definitely glad to be done with the 'testing stage' which was a hassle. Also, as for regularity/ periods, I skip the placebo pills and start the other pack right away so that I don't get my period and for now it has worked great.Read More Read Less

A great birth control with some side effects. Pros -Cleared acne for the most part, I still got breakouts near my period -Gave me a regular period, I had about 2 periods a month (this is originally why I started) -No weight gain, no hair loss, no cramps, no irregular bleeding Cons -Low libido and I became very dry and tight -I have had to relearn who I am attracted to -Maybe a cause I’d my anxiety (getting that checked now)

Soo my experience with this pill isss very very bad. My acne got so much worse which they say it’s normal for like a three months of using. But even after three months it didn’t get better. I was so sad and even when i knew that it isn’t working i still was taking the pill and believing that one day eventually i wake up with no pimple on my face. But it didn’t happen. Maybe it works for some people but mostly the acne will just come back to u after getting off the pill. It doesn’t heal it, just covers it. Another negative is the price. Try to get some help from esthetician or try antibiotics but I wouldn’t recommend this pill. Read More Read Less
