I was prescribed lindane as a last resort. We've had scabies for almost 2 mos. and after 2 applications of Permethrin cream I was prescribed Lindane. My doctor didn't give me proper instructions on using this medicine. Therefore I have broke out into a reaction, severe headaches, soreness, nausea. I would NEVER use this medicine again.

Have had scabies for 4 months. Have used every available topical specifically as instructed - permethrin once a week for fourweeks; benzyl benzoate once a week for three weeks; Eurax only to relieve the itching; and now lindane. It's given me the most relief of any of the other topicals. I began taking Stromectol (ivermectin) as well the same night I do the topicals - have taken the ivermectin (6 of the 3mg tablets each time, I weigh 160 lbs.) for the past three weeks of applications, once a week. My only reaction was a headache. Plan to reapply in one week if I develop new tracks/burrows, but if not, then I hope I am cured of this. It's been a living nightmare.Read More Read Less

After struggling for over a week with an unknown rash that has drove me to distraction, the small 'tunneling' started to appear on my hands and my Dr prescribed this and told me it was scabies. Very humbling, truly. The application was not horrible but I wish for the $100 prescription they could have added a pump dispenser. The smell was not like a pesticide as I thought it would be- more like a hospital shampoo smell. Wait until your skin is super dry and not clammy- applying it while standing in front of a fan helped a lot. Do not miss the soles and the palms- very important! Pay close attention to nails and under nails. It was sticky after applying so I stayed in front of the fan for about 15 min before putting on PJs. Prepare to go straight to bed bc activities can make you want to wash your hands. I actually had a full nights sleep with very minimal itching- the first in a long while! I left it on for about 10hrs since it was not bothering me. Easy to wash off with a mild soap. I did use a body sponge bc it felt a little slimy still w/o scrubbing. Took 3 days before new breakouts stopped and almost a week before itching subsided. I am not big on medicines and hated having to use a scabicide but it did work for me with no side effects.Read More Read Less

Had severe reaction because I did NOT read all instructions closely enough. Must wait ONE hr. after bathing to apply, not IMMEDIATELY. This allows the lotion to get into bloodstream too quickly and that will make one VERY sick. It has taken most of the itch away and it has been 4 days. The scab/sores are starting to heal and it does not look a angry. Would advise using, but this is poison, so take this application seriously! mark

My husband & I applied it last night and I have already felt the relief and I had them MUCH worse than he did, by no means are they gone but the redness looks like they are not as rash looking like they were. I also got a steroid shot for the itching and that helped. One review blamed the Dr. for not explaining the directions but all medications come with directions and its our responsibility to read them I think. Read More Read Less

It was a very devastating time for me,not only having scabies at my age, but the Lindane didn't work at all. Have tried many different meds prescibed by my doctor, those haven't helped either.

This medication should only be prescribed AFTER other treatments have failed, yet I was prescribed it right off the bat. I used it as directed, and it did not kill the scabies eggs at all. The risks do NOT outway the benefits of this medication, and it was not at all effective in treating my scabies-

I had to use this medication because my son and husband had bad break-outs and I did not, but they say the ENTIRE household must treat to prevent reinfestation. It did NOT help my son and husband and they had to retreat. I don't think it was so much the lindane "didn't" work but, we did NOT treat the house as thorough as we should have and got reinfected. I said ease of use was difficult because you have to apply it and keep it on for 8-12 hrs.! That's tough! Another problem was the seizure possibility that the drug info repeatedly stated could be a side effect which scared me to death. Fortunately that did not happen to any of the 3 of us. I want to specify that ALL of the meds for scabies note in the insert that the itching and even new outbreaks can occur after use so don't reapply too soon as it can take up to 2-3 weeks to have 100% refief. Unless your Dr. says to do so. Hope I helped.Read More Read Less
