I am a fairly healthy 42y/o female & just had my brain mri today. I am writing this w/ in 9hrs of my scan. The first part was a breeze (without contrast) but the second part went down hill. As soon as the MRI tech gave me the Gadobenate Dimeglumine inj, I started feeling congested, started sneezing & felt my head heavy. I really wanted to finish the mri so we proceeded w/ the scan. 15 minutes after receiving the dye, I developed multiple hives on my face, eyelids & neck, felt short of breath, headache, face felt hot & dizzy. The radiologist on duty said that my symptoms were uncommon & it should go away within 10 minutes. Well, it didn't. Started coughing uncontrollably, more short of breath, dizzy, more hives. Needless to say, they called code RRT (Rapid Response Team)& took me the ER. Good thing is that I had the scan inside a major hospital & they just wheeled me to the ER. BP 220/113 pulse 122. Had oxygen, Benadryl + Solumedrol IV, IV fluids, EKG & BP meds. My symptoms improved after 4hours & was discharged home. Per the radiologist, this dye does not have Iodine so it was really weird that I had an allergic reaction. It was very, very scary experience.Read More Read Less
