I am 28 and have tried many types of BC. Ortho tri (lost weight but made me break out like crazy) Nova777 (made me feel wierd and moody) Ortho Evra Patch (loved it but after being on it awhile I started to have skin problems and was very moody) and now the quasense. In the begining I loved it. Very little cramping, my skin cleared up somewhat from how it had been on the patch and my mood improved....

I have never had such a horrible experience with birth control or a doctor's office.I just wanted to lower my risk of cancer and have a normal period with this drug. I am underweight and my periods were irregular. The first week was bad enough with black spotting that turned into a period one week after I had supposedly finished my period. Three weeks of bleeding is ridiculous. Then cramping, bloa...

I have been taking this for about 4 years now. It is nice to not have your period every month, more like every 3, but as of recently I am looking to switch. I was off the medication for a month. In that time I lost weight without diet change, felt 100 times better, my mood was WAY better, I was just happier and more comfortable in my skin. In the past 4 years I have been semi moody (definitely severe PMS before period) and always just feel so so bloated although I am very active and eat a very regulated diet. Going back on the pill after that break, I am now bloated again, moody, and anxious. It was great for a while, but the constant bloat and mood swings aren't worth it. Read More Read Less

I can not understand why my mood swings had gotten so bad! I did not understand why I had gained so much weight. I did not understand where the vaginal drynesss was coming from and now it is all clear. I recently contacted my doctor about what to do to combat my PMS/PMDD symptoms and he decided to switch me to a completely different pill. After reading these reviews, I see I should've switched a long time ago. I used Quasense for over a year and did not have the same problems over the course of that time but as the months went on the symptoms got worse.I got to the point that I could not take any more and I have switched. The only upside to this BC is that your period only comes once every three months but for the symptoms I was dealing with, it was not good enough to stick with. Hopefully my next prescription works better. Read More Read Less

I have been taking quasense pills for about a year now and I'm ready for a new pill. I've had all the typical side effects from this pill, weight gain and finding it difficult to lose it. Acne, bloating, mood swings, depression has worsened and irregular spotting monthly.

I have been on Quasense for 3 months now, and so far so good. I haven't had an spotting, nausea, or weight gain. My acne has decreased significantly, too. I also take this product to help with my period pains, too. So far, my period pains have only decreased a little bit, but my flow has decreased significantly, which is great. I think I can handle the pain better now, though, since I'll only have it 4 times a year. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good birth control medicine.

Chest and back acne when I never had any before. Weird bumps popping up on my arms. I lost 20 pounds 3 years ago; I gained 15 of it back in 2.5 months without any change in diet. I bled every day (not period amount but more than spotting). Depression was intensified. My breasts are enlarged and have shooting pain. Don't take this medication.

I have been on this pill for 6 months now. During the first 3 months I had bled on and off and even had my period on the placebo pill. The doctor told me to wait after the first pack to make a decision because my body was still adjusting to the pill. Understandable. This next 3 months, I am still bleeding off and on and have had at most, 2 and a half weeks of no bleeding. I'm cramping all the time, I'm bloated, I'm emotional and have mood swings. I feel like I'm on my period 24/7. I was only on the pill to regulate my painful periods and the way my body has changed since a miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy last year. As of today I have had enough of the side effects and am going off of the pill. Read More Read Less

I have only been on Quasense for a month and have been having terrible mood swings. I think I am bordering on manic-depressive. I have broken down crying in public, whereas other times I have stayed up for days in a row in manic energy. I never got neck and back acne and barely any facial acne, but have been breaking out in those regions since beginning on the pill. I also noticed that my skin is much more sensitive to the sun. Otherwise, I have not had the side effects that others have mentioned - no weight gain (except from slightly increased water retention), no migraines, and no breakthrough bleeding. I hope that things get better in the coming months, because being pimply and manic-depressive is not at all pleasant. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this pill for almost 3 months. I was on regular birth control for about a year but it got to the point that it wasn't helping anymore. I have PCOS and have very heavy periods and pain each month. Since the pill stopped helping, my Dr. decided to try Quasense to lessen the frequency of my periods. However, since being on Quasense, I've had nonstop bleeding/spotting for the 2.5 months on this. I've gained about 10 lbs and I eat well and exercise and have done so for several years now. I am gaining back weight that I worked SO hard to lose (50 lbs in the last 2 years). I feel absolutely miserable, bloated, and nauseated all of the time. Plus the constant bleeding, which makes it very hard to be intimate with my partner. I just made an appointment with my doctor so we can see what we can do to get me back to normal. So sorry that so many of you are experiencing or have experienced this too. Read More Read Less

I was having extremely heavy periods so my doctor switched me to this pill with the expectation that I wouldn't have a period or a very light period after adjusting over 3 months. I was told to expect spotting during the first 3 months. First month was fine - light moments of nausea first 2 weeks and no spotting. Started spotting first week of 2nd month which has turned into a constant light to moderate period every day. I just started first week of 3rd month and waiting for period to stop. Will hang in there until end of 3rd month and then calling my doctor if my period doesn't stop. I have noticed some weight gain and breast tenderness too. I'd rather have 1 week of a miserable period than a constant period.Read More Read Less

I have used this BC for 4 years now. I absolutely love only having a period every 3 months and most the time it was just spotting (which is normal). However about 2 years ago i noticed sex drive decreasing and starting to stay dry a lot. Over the last two years it got worse and to the point that i just don't have sex. I am starting a new BC next week to see if that fixes the problem, but from what my GYNO said is that the quasense is a high dose BC and can cause severe dryness like this so trying out a lower dose BC could fix the problem. Other than that i've had no issues with quasense.Read More Read Less

I have been on Quasense for about four months, and honestly have not had the absolute worst side effects I have read about. No weight gain, serious mood swings, or decreased sex drive, no break through bleeding between periods, no increase in acne. But I do dislike the fact that basically starting from the beginning of the second month until I have a period, my abdomen cramps really badly and sometimes bloats. I have to go to bed with a heating bag almost every night. I sometimes feel little twinges in my abdomen as if something's moving around in there (and no I'm not pregnant). Around the same time, for a short period, I have breast tenderness and nausea. Also some fatigue, but I'm not sure if that's the BC or not. Also, I do sometimes go two or three days with no bowel movements, and since I'm a hypochondriac, it scares me sometimes. The biggest complaint I have is the increase in discharge and the almost CONSTANT yeast infection I've had since the middle of the first month. I've tried to cure it twice, but it came right back. It sucks and it makes me feel nasty. I'm starting on Junel tomorrow and hopefully, things get better. I originally switched to Quasense to help my acne, but if I switch and get acne, but my abdomen feels better and this awful yeast infection goes away, I'll be good. I'm always scared to start a new BC. I've been on 3 different in the past two and a half years. I'm scared to gain weight or become depressed or lose my sex drive, but I guess that can happen to anyone. I just have to find the right pill for me. :) And I have a boyfriend and family that will support me the whole way. Thanks for reading my review.Read More Read Less

I only used it for a month and I was extremely unhappy with it. The first day I had to leave school early w/ nausea and throwing up. My face has never broken out as badly as it did when I took Quasense. HORRIBLE. Also, I don't gain weight easily and I gained 6 pounds in the 1 month that I took it. Spotting and lots of discharge everyday. I would not recommend.

I took Quasense for about 6 months and my experience with this birth control was a good one, except I have PCOS. For those who do not know what PCOS is, it's Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and I have an imbalance hormones going on in my body. They are completely out of whack, and basically this birth control was not strong enough for me. If I didn't have PCOS, this birth control would have been great for me personally. No weight gain, I didn't see too much mood swings, neither did my husband, so really a good birth control. But due to my PCOS I had a lot of problems by the 4th month of spotting, bad cramps, and a lot of bleeding when I shouldn't had any. Great overall and wish I could keep taking this, but not good for my body. Read More Read Less

I have been on this for 6 months and only have one issue with it. I gained 10 pounds after being on it for 1-2 months, but have been able to get that 10 down to 5. But no matter how healthy I eat or how much I exercise, I cannot lose that extra 5. Other than that, I have had no issues. It has not affected my mood or sex drive, and I haven't had any headaches or anything like others have mentioned. It actually cleared up acne on my chin so I have a clear face now that the dermatologist couldn't even clear up because chin acne is usualy all hormonal. From what I've heard, if you had an abnormal (whether it be painful or irregular) period before trying this, you should NOT take it or it will affect you. I had a very regular period before and it has not negatively affected me other than the weight gain.Read More Read Less

I've never used birth control other than condoms prior to using Quasense, however, my period pains got so bad, I've had to leave work several times because the menstrual pains were so bad, even after taking Midol, I literally couldn't stand. I haven't been taking this drug for very long, (I'm only on my last pack,) However, I am already fed up! I have been experiencing dark spotting for the past 2 months straight, every single day, since taking this. I get random headaches almost every night, I've become increasingly bitter towards customers at work & cannot afford to take it any longer. Even my boyfriend has grown distant because we aren't intimate anymore & ended up cheating on me. I've never been so stressed in my entire life & it pretty much ruined my relationship. All because of this one tiny pill. A woman can only take so much! I've already called my doctor to discuss switching to the shot, which my sister swears by. I wouldn't recommend Quasense, even if my life depended on it.. And from the looks of the reviews, it shouldn't even be on the marketRead More Read Less

Started this medication to stop my periods. I was having 2 periods a month. I have been on Quasense for 10 days and have decided to stop. I cannot handle the weight gain. I eat right and exercise everyday. But since taking this medication all of my pants are tight. I am bloated all the time. I hate it! I feel like I am about to start my period every day. Mild cramping all day. I feel agitated and have no apathy for anyone since starting this med. This is not for me.

I have only been taking this pill for a week I have noticed dizziness and headache my tongue has been numb also. Overall though it is going okay I have start taking it at night so that I won't have to have a headache too long. My biggest concern was weight gain but I have not gained any extra which is good I will defiantly keep taking it and watching my symptoms.

I have been using this birth control for many years and have had no issues with it. I used to get morning sickness with other birth controls but this one took care of it. I don't have mood swings anymore and I don't always take it at the same time but it is still effective for me.
