I've been on VyVanse (60mg) for 5 months now. I have been able to compare the medication in 2 different scenarios during this time. For 4 of the months, I was working 40 hours a week landscaping. Prior to the meds, I had constant racing thoughts and never seemed to be able to focus on something long enough to finish it. The meds stopped the racing thoughts and seemed to "zone me in" on the tas...

I was on the name-brand Vyvanse for around 9 months before the generic came out and my insurance stopped covering the name-brand version. It was hugely helpful - I was able to focus better, impulsive reactions and irritability were curbed, and my anxiety and depression improved. Two months into using the generic, I was experiencing all of the symptoms I had before going on Vyvanse, plus my depression was worse. It dawned on me that a friend had told me she had heard and experienced that the generic did not work the same, so I went off of it. One week later, I felt miraculously better! I was till having ADHD issues, but the depression I was experiencing dissipated. Now my insurance will not cover the name-brand, so I am going to try a different slow-release medication. My son takes Vyvanse, too, so I am worried for him. It seems that there is enough anecdotal evidence going around that the generic does not work the same that something should be done about it. I have been on Vyvanse for five years. Because my insurance does not cover the brand name anymore I had to go to the generic. I’m on the same dose. I have been this whole time 30 mg. I can tell you, it feels like it’s barely working. Five in changed my life and being forced to use the generic because of cost, is affecting my life. It’s affecting my work environment and my home environment to not be able to concentrate. They used to have a brand-name coupon that saved me on cost, and the minute the generic came out they took it away. For those of us who need the brand name but can’t afford it that was a lifesaver and I’m so upset by this whole thing. Generic is definitely not the same as the brand name. I am now having to talk to my doctor about alternatives. That scares me a bit because I didn’t have side effects with brand-name Vyvanse and now I’m going to have to deal with a new medicine and possible side effects. Please bring back the brand-name coupon for Vyvanse.Read More Read Less

I thought it was meeeee! This is the first month I’ve used generic! It’s horrible!!!! Basically if you take away all the benefits of ADHD meds that changed your life and helped you on a daily basis and added in increased anxiety reduced circulation and all the side effects of those you will get generic….. do yourself a favor and get literally anything else: better to have nothing and not operate correctly than have something this toxic.

Generic lisdexamfetamine didn’t work for me. It sedated and caused brain fog that impaired my ability to work and function in daily tasks. Worse yet, it caused a headache that started shortly after taking the medication in the morning and lasted all day, progressively getting worse until it felt like a severe migraine in the evenings. I have never had these issues with the brand name Vyvanse.

I have taken both Vyvanse and the generic form. For me the generic had a stronger impact on my depressive symptoms and lasted longer than even a higher dose of Vyvanse did. Vyvanse made me lethargic by mid day.

Vyvanse changed my life! I was taking 20 mg with patient assistance from Tekada for the last 3 years. That ended in January when the generic became available and I switched to the generic (still over $100 a month without insurance). I’ve become depressed, moody and can’t focus on tasks. I’m back to being overwhelmed and unable to put together a plan to accomplish things. Going to try Aderall.

I have been taking Vyvanse for 10+ years and was switched to Mylan without being informed. I actually had to schedule a Dr. appointment to see if there was something going on with me. Extreme brain fog, fatigue, headaches, lack of appetite (was able to manage this with Vyvanse), irritability.

I have been taking Vyvanse 50 mg for over a year and have had great results in relation to my productivity and focus. My insurance recently stopped covering name brand Vyvanse so I have been taking the generic for the last few months and have noticed a significant decrease in its effectiveness in aiding my concentration and productivity. I have also noticed an increase in my irritability, anxiety, and feeling my heart racing like I never did on the name brand version.

My suggestion to you if you are using the generic version of Vyvanse is to stop immediately. It is dangerous and can take your mind to dangerous levels. It is nothing like the original version of Vyvanse and it actually is scary how different these two drugs are. The depression you will feel on this medication is scary. Most insurances will not cover Vyvanse bc of the generic hitting the market, but I urge you to discard of this medication and try another one bc it will mess you up in the mind. Read More Read Less

Awful experience on generic (from apotex & alvogen). Inertia, nausea, brain fog, exhaustion, depression, “black cloud of doom” I’ve been calling it—the moment it kicks in I feel instantly hopeless. The nausea was impacting my ability to drive. Just went back on brand name and I’m good. The generic is not equivalent. It has been one of the worst meds I’ve tried for mental health (and I’ve tried a lot).

I’ve been on vyvanse for 8+ years which has been helpful. Because insurance stopped covering the brand, I switched to generic for a few months, After 2nd day of being back on brand with generic being out of stock, I have noticed a huge difference. Generic was making more anxious and would have mood swings. There is no way the generic is the same as brand. FDA needs to take this off market and get insurance to cover the brand again. I’m not going back on generic again, will be switching medication once I need a refill Read More Read Less

Diagnosed with ADD, was prescribed Vyvanse and switched to the generic because it was out of stock. Feels like a completely different medicine from Vyvanse, will not be continuing it.

I began Vyvanse 10mg at age 55 years old when I was newly diagnosed. I was amazed at the things I could finally remember to do without written list, and more efficiently. No longer was I a human Roomba. Insurance switched both me and my 19 year old daughter to Mylan generic. Mine was useless at 10mg, and my daughter's 20mg caused her depression and anxiety to skyrocket. She was crying in her closet. We filed a complaint with the FDA for the Mylan version causing her harm, called the company and our insurance company with the complaint info to the FDA. We had just received her 90 day supply, which was now useless. Her doctor was able to send in a "Name Brand Vyvanse" prescription, as did mine. Call people and advocate on your own behalf! File the FDA report of adverse effect/lack of efficacy. These helped. We also changed to mail order with 90 day supplies and spoke directly with (for us) CVS/Caremark customer service to verify.Read More Read Less

I’ve been 70mg Vyvanse for almost 20 years and it’s been great. Fast forward to the GENERIC: the FDA might say they’re just as effective, and some are, however this is far from true in this case. I’ve got headaches, feel sluggish, barely focused and can sleep without needing meds for my (vyvanse induced) insomnia. What does that tell you? The generic I’ve gotten because takeda no longer offers patient assistance, is less than satisfying. I think I can do better self-identifying with coffee. Expensive lesson!??Read More Read Less

Not effective. You’re better off not taking it. Does nothing. FDA approved this and in my opinion it puts them is question.

Vyvanse 70 MG for about 16 months (50 and 60 MGs when 70 MGs was not available). Vyvanse has assisted with managing focus and balance for work/life. I do not recall ever having started with a brand name medication and then taking the generic equivalent. I have always taken generic medication, happily, because of price, believing it was the exact same product. My own experience (2 weeks) on lisdexamfetamine 70MG has been a noticble difference. My focus and concentration levels are challenged and my energy and sleep patern in the evening is out of alignment. I do not believe the FDA allows the ingredients of a brand and generic to differ. I have put in a script request for the brand and will pay the extra $15. I am very curious as to why, how, and causation for the difference in the generic, as I am not a brand champ/advocate. I really want the cheapest version that works. Read More Read Less
