It seemed to make me hold water. My water consumption was reduced, my urine volume was reduced, I gained a couple pounds and my skin became very dry. I stopped the medicqation after about 2 weeks and all of these symptoms went away.

Even on a statin (Lipitor), my triglyceride level had topped 900 and my total cholesterol was around 350. After some genetic testing for medication metabolism markers, my doctor switched me to Fenofibric Acid and Pravastatin. Combining Fenofibric Acid with Pravastatin dropped my triglycerides to about 150 and my total cholesterol to just over 200 in a period of three months. I have been on the new drug regimen for about 6 months with no problems.

Trilipix (135 mg/day) has been extremely effective for me. I have a very bad reaction to statins -- my thigh muscles become very tight, and pressure on my thighs becomes extremely painful. Without any intervention, my total cholesterol level is about 250, and every doctor I have seen in the past 10 years tell me that fenofibric acid will not be effective -- so we do an ABA test. In the last test, my cholesterol levels went from 150s (with fenofibric acid), to 250s (without any medical intervention), and finally, after 3 months of being on fenofibric acid, 180s. Why do many MDs believe that fenofibric acid is not effective for improving cholesterol outcomes? It is very effective for me.Read More Read Less

I didn't know that sleeping problems are a side effect of this medication. After taking it for a month I started having pretty severe insomnia. I did some research that told me it is a possible side effect but not very common. I have stopped the medication and the insomnia is gone.

I took this medicine for a month along with atorvastin and noticed nausea that continued to get worst as well increased hot flashes like my hormones were messed up. I have been off for about a week and both side effects are gone.
