I was very skeptical to use this cream as I have been on every retinoid cream out there with minimal success. I was recently prescribed this cream to treat adult acne (due to hormonal issues) along with a 2 month round of doxy. Prior to using the cream and antibiotics, I was already taking spirinolactone and a low estrogen birth control for acne treatment. I have been using the cream for approx...

I began taking the Veltin gel about 3 months ago and have never been so happy with the results. Even though the side effects were awful in the beginning, it was well worth the wait. I am still taking gut medicine with the gel now, and plan on using it until my skin fully clears. I don't get any bad side effects now, but they were bad the first month I was using the gel. I use a gentle face wash, C...

I have been using Veltin combined with Finacea for about 4 months now. The first month was AWFUL! My skin felt so dry, irritated and red. I was peeling everywhere. Unfortunately, my doctor did not give me much direction. After adjusting my skincare routine to include moisturizer before I put the Veltin on my skin helped immensely. I am not at a point that I can tolerate it much better and my skin feels so much better. I don't break out as much and when I do, it clears up very quickly. Overall, my skin feels much smoother and healthier. I do recommend the drug highly, but you have to be patient for it to work. For more guidance, look up Dr. Dray on YouTube, she has a video on her nightly routine with retin-A. It helped me immensely!Read More Read Less

So I did not read the instruction as supposed to and I Put the gel all over my face and touched my lips. Now my lips burned and are extremely dried. It works well with my skin and was prescribed this to dry my skin since I'm oily and easily to attract acne. So far so good. Tip: Don't let it touch your lips!

This is drying and irritates the skin even with small uses. Results take time.

It took a couple months for it to really start seeing results, but I sure am seeing them. I never had much acne to begin with, granted, but this medicine makes it so I have near-zero acne almost all the time. The side effects aren't terrible. Some peeling, but that's generally only right after I apply it (at night). And a constantly reddish face at times, but it's not super-noticeable enough for it not to be worth it.

I was first prescribed Veltin when my generally mild but persistent acne (I'm 26) got worse 2 years ago. I had a facial, extraction and light peel and after my face healed from this treatment I started using the Veltin. My acne cleared up completely and I was really impressed at how luminous/glowy it made my face. It evened out my skin tone, calmed inflammation/redness and even reduced or eliminated blackheads. I really wasn't expecting my skin to look so good. The downside is that it does make your skin more sensitive to sunlight so you have to make sure you only use at night as with all retinoid products and stay out of the sun, use sunscreen and wear a hat for extra protection. The sensitivity to sunlight is the only downside to this product and any product with Vitamin A. After my initial breakout and treatment, I actually stopped using it because I didn't want to be continuously more sensitive to the sun... I figured my acne was mild and manageable enough and I didn't need to be on the medication constantly. Recently I started getting more blackheads and pimples on my chin and started re-using it; again I'm getting very good results. It does induce purging at first, so bear that in mind. In 4-6 weeks (or even earlier) your skin should clear. Some general tips: Use as directed, only at night. Protect yourself from the sun. When I started, I used it every other day, increasing to every day and I would recommend this approach to help prevent dryness/peeling. Use a mild cleanser, not a drying sulfate one. I'm using CeraVe Hydrating which I really like but perhaps you can consult your dermatologist about an appropriate mild cleanser for your skin. Everyone's skin is different and effectiveness can vary from individual to individual but overall I have acne/blackhead-prone skin on the dry and sensitive side and I had very good results with Veltin. I started using Veltin about 3 weeks ago and I can see a hugh improvement in my skin. The peeling is acting to shed the dead layers of skin and a nice soft complextion is starting to show. The only thing that bothers me is the extreme dryness and burning. That's horrible! It hurts to eat and talk because my face is so tight. However, I plan to stick this out until the dark spots are gone. Oveall Veltin is working.

I was very skeptical to use this cream as I have been on every retinoid cream out there with minimal success. Prior to using the cream and antibiotics, I was already taking spirinolactone and a low estrogen birth control for acne treatment. I have been using the cream for approximately 3 weeks and have seen phenomenal results. It cleared up my skin rapidly and I now have maybe one pimple at a time which is not something I have been able to say for a long while. Additionally the discoloration/hyper pigmentation from both acne scarring and clogged pores around the Perioral area are gone and my skin is very soft and smooth. When starting this cream,I eased into the full "pea size" application dose by using only half that to start and lots of moisturizer. I increased the dose gradually and have experienced minimal side effects. I use cerave face wash and cetaphil moisturizing cream also. I have extremely sensitive skin and have had no issues with these products. I do recommend giving this cream a shot. I was appalled at the price but desperate and will end up recovering the cost of the cream with savings in make up not to mention a self-confidence boost. Good luck.Read More Read Less

My experience with this has been so good. I've been on it and doryx for two months and my face feels so much suppler. I use it at night, once a day. I was getting super big and red pimples every morning (like 3+ every day)and after a week of using this and doryx I hardly ever wake up with a pimple. When I do they heal faster and hurt a lot less. I wish more people who have had positive experiences with this would review it, because it is one of the most wonderful things ever haha. Still on the first tube after two months, and I probably have two more months until I need to get more. WONDERFUL STUFF.Read More Read Less

A lot of peeling and severe burning when I eat. I have only been using it for 9 days and my face is so much better.the medication seems to cause the most pain where my acne is the worse. I will see it through because my skin looks healthier than I could ever remember and it is working just maybe a little painful. I can deal with that vs. not wanting to leave the Ouse because I am 36 with ace.

It's too soon to really see any effects of this drug yet or know if it's working, but I have some useful info: I've been using Veltin for about a week and a half now, and I have not had any more redness or burning like others. I had previously used a tretinoin gel (so I think that's why Veltin wasn't as much of a peeling, painful shock to my skin) and dermatologist gave me samples and these STRICT instructions: 1. At bedtime, measure out a small pea-sized amount 2. dab the whole portion onto the center of my forehead 3. split the Veltin on my forehead with my finger into quarters and dabing 1 quarter onto my right cheek/jaw area, 1 quarter onto my left cheek/jaw area, 1 quarter on my chin, and the last quarter stays on the forehead. 4. Rub the quarters into the areas of your face evenly. ALSO tretinoin, which is in Veltin, makes the skin extra susceptible to sun damage, so stay out of the sun. When I used 0.025% tretinoin gel on a daily basis as part of a previous prescription regimen, I'd get the painful, sunburn sensation when I overdid the medicine application. You gotta start off with small amounts and GRADUALLY increase the amount of gel used with anything that contains tretinoin or the area you're treating is gonna feel sunburned. Hope this helps!Read More Read Less

My derm Has me on Veltin & Doryx (oral antibiotic)And Cere Ve Facial cleanser. At firstI thought my skin was gonna fall off. My Skin was peeling around my lips & nose. My face felt sun-burned. I went back to my derm & she said to go get hydra-cortizone (over-the-counter) & I put it on the areas that peeled & It really helped! She also said that I should take it every other day. I have been seeing results It really helps heal my acne & reduce bumps. Its really thick and Heavy but definately worth it. Keep taking it, the longer you use it the better!Read More Read Less

This medication is lethal and should not be on anyone face or anywhere. Its very expensive way for the doctors to help the pharmacy make money. After 4 weeks my face nearly burned off. Breakouts got worse than when I began. Lots of itching, redness and Im dark. Burning so bad you cant wash your face and the end result for me is dark bloches in my face like the thing. And lots of inflamation in my face. Please dont use this medication, it will probably be lethal to pregnant women as well. Beware

I was given veltin gel due to severe acne. I hardly ever had acne in my teens but in my 40's it exploded. Like some of the other reviews, my face got extremely red, peeled most all the time, felt like a severe sunburn. The only moisturizer I could use on my face was pure Vaseline. but I realized the better I moisturized after I applied, the less it burned and peeled. I stuck with it because my face was awful with acne. After a couple of weeks it got where the burning and redness was not so bad. It's going to peel some no matter what because it is a heavy exfoliater besides antibiotic. But after a few weeks of getting used to it, I apply it at night, wait 30 to 45 min then do my moisterizer routine, then in the morning, I use a facial scrub (clinique 7 day) and do my normal moisturizing routine and my face has not looked this good in a long time. If you guys just stick with it, the burning and peeling do get better and it really works.Read More Read Less

I can't really give a review about the effectiveness of veltin as I've only been using it about two weeks. But what I will say is that my face burns like crazy. It burns to wash my face after using it and when I wake up in the morning and wash my face it is very sore and extremely sensitive. Even applying moisturizer is painful. I was prescribed veltin for bedtime use and finacea for the morning but my face burns so bad after washing it that I can't even put the finacea on and that never burned my skin until I began using the veltin at night. Also, I've noticed my skin does look worse now but I was told by several that that is to be expected in the beginning. Overall not too excited about this medication but I've had acne for 12 years so I'm ready for something to work therefore, I will try and stick it out with this for a while longer. That is, as long as my skin can tolerate it. Hope this helps as far as what to expect.Read More Read Less

I have used Veltin for approx 6 weeks and have gotten fabulous results. My skin is so clear, complexion has evened out and my skin is so soft. I use Veltin nightly after washing my face. I then use Cervae pm first then dap my forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose with the Veltin then rub it in. I have a few white heads which I never had before but the cystic acne is completely gone!
