At age 55, no periods for 3 years, hot flashes for 3 years (day and noc), I began Premphase (highest dosage prescribed by physician). Within 24hr I experienced cessation of hot flashes, however 3 weeks later I started menstruating and super pads and super tampons can't provide adequate protection for me. I don't feel comfortable with physician's advice that my body will "adjust" after 2-3 months...

I have been taking this medication since 1996. Suddenly my pharmacist can no longer get it, says it is on backorder, and I am given 14 days of Premarin and 14 days of medroxyprogesterone. This combination is not a satisfactory substitute.

I began taking Premphase in January after my insurance wouldn't cover another HRT drug. (The other one worked fine with no side effects). I agreed to try Premphase but the side effects are not for me. My legs and joints hurt soooo bad. I have leg cramps at night and have to get up and walk around. I also started having stomach cramps that had gone away a long time ago. This past month I started cramping and bleeding quite heavily. I don't want this to start again. I'm calling my doctor to schedule an appointment. Read More Read Less

I gained over 20 pounds during the approximately 3 years I was taking this. I stopped taking this (Premphase) in November 2007. My decision. Amazingly enough, my periods stopped( I am 54) and my hot flashes actually lessened in frequency and intensity.

I have never taken prescribed medications in the past, consequently I am not comfortable taking pills that are burgundy and pill that are blue. Only Premphase .625 have these colors.Read More Read Less
