I used Depo Sub-Q Provera for 2 yrs. I did not some of the side effects i.e. hair growth, and acne, but it did stop my periods, which kept me from cramping and heavy bleeding. Furthermore, I had my last shot April 2009, and it is now Dec 2009, and still no period...this is weird to me, but according to side effects ,it may take 6-18 mo. after stopping the shot for your period to return... I am not...

I have used this medication for many years specifically to STOP having periods. It’s what it does. I was a very heavy bleeder with terrible cramping and do not intend on having more children. My period would last for weeks and come along after only a 2 week break. It takes a few months to take effect. I didn’t think I would need to take it at one time and regretted it. After a few months the period was back with a vengeance. This is just a temporary fix until I have a hysterectomy. My doctor told me that I would have a period and be fertile for a very long time, I’m 41 my long time partner had a vasectomy years ago. A woman shouldn’t have to go through terrible long periods if not going to breed again. I am 41 now and have had no issues with this medication. If I’m really stressed I do have small spotting. The benefit outweighs all the risks with my body and health conditions. Only complaint is the acne. But I’m also constipated and that can cause built up bacteria. No weight changes or mood changes for me. My life is better when I’m not chained to an over active uterus. Highly recommend. Read More Read Less

I am not complaining, but I just want my body to readjust back to it's normal cycle, without the cramps, and heavy bleeding of course. Read More Read Less

I have been off the medication for almost a month now and still have not gotten it fully it says it doesnt take long to work but maybe that was the period for that month. If something does happen I will definately have to change this review but for now this is how I feel. If I dont get it I will probably look into getting on it again cuz it seemed like it light have been starting to work, maybe I just needed to take it for a little longer Read More Read Less
