I lost my right kidney to Renal Cell Carcinoma in 2000. Had to have a total hip replacementon the left hip in 2007 and when addressing the hip problem we found a tumor in the hip and on the left kidney. Sunitinib has stopped the tumors from growing. Side effect that have been tough to handle has been the constent fatique and thing don't taste right.

I have been on it for 3 months after imatinib failed one. 1 at month l had severe backache,2 nd month had serious diarrhoeal and 3 rd month had foot sores all these mainly occuring the 3rd and 4 th week of treatment .These side effects normally subside during the two week resting period. So l just keep hoping my body will get over it .

I have been on this medicine for 3 months, I take it every day, I feel good. the side effect that gets me the most is loss of taste. everything tastes salty and/or like metal. my dr. prescribed me a mouthwash that will help with that. I am on day 3 of mouth wash so not sure if that is working yet or not. and I notice I am "shedding" more hair. my last PET scan showed that this medicine is killing the cancer! so.......... so far so good.
