I have had several surgeries (both knees replaced, hip replaced, shoulders with bone chips & calcium deposits) and suffer from arthritis of the joints. Several times I caught up in the addition of narcotics for both pain & pleasure. What have significantly helped me was a mix of percoset and methadose. I no longer have the desire to over-medicate and it takes some of constant pain away. This combin...

Since changing from the old Methadone to this the supposed 24 effectiveness has never once been attained. Most of the time I take my does at 10am and the effect is entirely gone plunging me into withdrawal anywhere from 3:30am to 5am. That's 19 to 17.5 hours of coverage from this drug. Not good enough.

Methdaone is a great alternative to opiates of any kind. It is a lot less expensive and no stress of where will I get my next prescription. Clinics will prescribe higher doses that pain doctors but clinics have strict rules about using anything else with the methadone that is not prescribed. Example - if you take ANY benzo. (Xanax, valium, etc.) the clinic will drop your dose way way down and make you report every day (even if it is a first offense and you have been faithful for 12 years!). So be careful, and know the rules and repercussions for breaking the rules. Otherwise, methadone has saved my life - 100%. You may not get super high but you will not get withdrawal sick or broke!Read More Read Less

After my back surgery, I got much worse with constant pain and Sciatica. For ten years I suffered, lost all form of a life. Tried every drug to get relief. My DR. wanted to put in a morphine pump or a spinal cord stimulator and told me he could do no more for me. I wanted to DIE, and I mean it. Went to one more DR. She asked if I tried Methadone. Within two weeks I was riding my bike. That Doctor and that drug gave me my life back. I bought another boat and am out almost every day, I still hurt sometimes when I really overdo it but it's tolerable. I just wish the DEA would keep there UNEDUCATED decisions out of good Americans Business. !Read More Read Less

The 40 Mg. Dispersable tabs should still be used for chronic pain.

Several times I caught up in the addition of narcotics for both pain & pleasure. What have significantly helped me was a mix of percoset and methadose. I no longer have the desire to over-medicate and it takes some of constant pain away. This combination works great. I can live with the current level of pain and stay on my prescribe dosage. It is rediculus that methadone/methadose is so controlled and the hassle to have monthly screenings just because of the methadone/dose. Doctors, clinics and the FDA need to see the benefits for people like myself. Read More Read Less

I have been taking 10mg Methadose 4 times a day for over 10 years, it replaced Vicodin . The Vicodin had become non effective for pain relief and I no longer experienced the euphoria of the drug as well. The key reasons I like Methadose is I don’t received a euphoric high that could cause addiction, and it helps control the pain (chronic low back and degenerative disc in my neck as well). I also have Crohns and many side effects that cause pain that feels like Fibromyalgia but isn’t. I also take Gabitril an anti seizure med at the same time I take my Methadose. I also take Pamelor an anti seizure med just before bedtime. Only once did I run out (I found them a week later in a pillbox I misplaced) and the 2nd day I experienced all the typical symptoms of withdraw. One other time I had a major problem was when a nurse, without doctor’s permission, gave me Narcan. I woke up in ICU hours later. I realize my physical being is ‘hooked’; I am sure psychological I could do well without the medication, but I prefer it over other Pharmacological therapies for pain relief. I also take several other medications and they all work well with the Methadose. At this time I am happy with the results at this time.Read More Read Less

Takes care of pain as long as you take it as prescibed. Don't add and don't take away without Doc's approval. Only side effect is hot flashes

I had been having severe pain because of my withdrawal from heroin and methadone eased my body and gave me new hope.It made me feel totally normal again.I absolutely would recommend methadone to anyone in recovery from opiod abuse. It gradually makes you feel good enough to where you don't feel the urge to use and it supresses it, and makes you gain your healthy appetite back.I love methadone its a great medicine.

I have been in pain mgt. for 12yrs. Tried every and I mean every pain med made. My surgeon had a disagreement with pain dr., called him inconsidered because surgeon not happy with pain mgt. dr.'s treatment after surgery. My "caring" dr. felt I should find new dr.. Yea better chance flying. So, I started methadone clinic and I'm better now than ever. pain is controlled, appetite is better, and I'm not chasing the pain with pills. Thank "God" for methadone 1 dose last 24hrs.

Im a 22 yr old male taking 5 10mg Methadose diskets daily for both the prevention and control of opioid cravings and treatment for chronic migraine pain due to multiple brain injuries. I first got addicted to opiates at 16 when prescribed hydro and oxy -codone for brain injury #5 of 18. After taking them for 8months straight I was cut cold turkey and left with permanent pain along with a craving for opiates. After taking Suboxone for 3.5 yrs and Subutex for 8 months- I found myself clean for over 2 years but still challenging migraine headaches after trying all sorts of non-narcotic therapies. Some have been accupuncture, biofeedback, chiropraction, homeopathic medicine, electronic stimulation----all having failed. Methadone has been my last try in defeating these and i find it to take care of cravings but that 50mgs daily is completely unsatisfactory to control current headache pain.Read More Read Less

didn't know that it is impossible and might take up to a year for this drug to leave your body. didn't know that withdrawing even slowly could cause severe problems. think people need more education before prescribing it, so they can make an informed decision before using this medication.

One day I started getting spasms as if i were being shocked by electricity. The spasms became worse and about a week later I could not walk. I was bent almost at a 90 degree angle and the quad cane was at it's shrtest setting. Promary care put me on Vicodin, then Percocet. Nurologist sent me to pain management. He did another MRI with an injection for "Higher Definition" and gave me injection of cortosone whyich brough little relief. Finally he gave me 5mg methadone every 4 hours. It was increased to 10 mgrms and now i'm on 40 MGS daily and the pain doesn't cause me to cry out when it shoots down my leg or similar shooting pain. I can walk but carefully but the razor sharp pain is very dulled, thank GodRead More Read Less
