How the interaction occurs:

Aprepitant may speed up how quickly your liver processes hormonal contraceptives.

What might happen:

The amount of contraceptive in your blood may decrease and it may not prevent pregnancy. You may or may not experience breakthrough bleeding and spotting.

What you should do about this interaction:

While you are taking aprepitant and for one month after you finish taking aprepitant, you should use a backup form of birth control (such as condoms) to prevent pregnancy. If you have any questions, contact your healthcare professional (e.g. doctor or pharmacist).Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
